Andrew Yang's Plan For Black America 

This man does interviews with Ben Shapiro AND The Root? Whether he succeeds or not we need more people doing this in politics

The interviewer's attitude was... well, I can't really say anything positive about it. But Yang answered like a champ. What a legit dude.

Very intelligent man, he can instantly engage the interviewer on their level without talking above but to their level. That's a sign of a true leader.

I'm black and all about us, but God damn The Root, get a new interviewer. This was crap. Dude was trying too hard to sound smart(er), and probably did more of a disservice in trying too hard.

I approached this interview as a Bernie supporter and i left a Yang 2020 supporter

Andrew Yang is an absolute genious. I dont think ANY other politician that i have ever seen on the left or right would have been able to go through such a controversial interview, and still be calm, collected, and react to EVERY single question with facts, logic, a plan forward, and hope!

I'm Black and I thought the interviewer was a horrible. I want the best for my people, President has to take care of all the people.

Bahaha, this interviewer is used to nonblack people cowering and acting desperate to appear nonracist. Yang knows he's talking to a delusional person and he just sticks to the facts but doesn't stir the pot or play what essentially amounts to reverse identity politics. This is what we need in a president.

The fact that Yang was able to come out of this interview looking like a champ under such sensitive racial topics is pretty impressive. Hes prob my front runner on the left and against Trump? I'd opt for Yang

He makes decisions based on data - something we can all agree on. Can we just elect him already?

I'm a die hard conservative but I really like him. Hes the only democrate that will debate his views with anyone.

"Not people of colour, black people." Well, to what end. I'm a progressive. Pretty into identity politics myself, if I may put it that way. But this guy just comes across as trying to "catch" Andrew out. It's annoying and unproductive. He literally just said that he agrees with the moral case for reparations but the best way forward for society that materialistically help people (INCLUDING BLACK PEOPLE) is the freedom dividend. Goddamn it. Learn to listen.

My vote was going to Bernie , but after watching a few of this mans interviews, it's going to Yang.

I’m a black viewer and this interviewer made me feel uncomfortable FOR Yang. From him cocking his head up to him right from the start of him talking, to pressing him about reparations for black people, to correcting the man for saying people of color. 🤦🏽‍♂️ And what was that he said at the start of the interview? Mhm 👀🙄 I don’t think Yang should even have to feel pressured to believe in this idea of black reparation. He’s absolutely right. No financial means is going to make the situation okay. Not a dollar, not a trillion, not even a number so high the word hasn’t been thought of. The means of white people making anything better is simply promoting policies that help the black community. Attack the wage gap is definitely a significant part of that. By having programs like the freedom dividend you’re able to close that gap for all without causing racial tensions. Black people of today aren’t owed anything for their ancestors being enslaved. We’re simply owed equality that includes financially that has pushed us back from the years throughout history even beyond slavery that have made us worse off in large numbers. Let’s talk about governments making communities that were predominantly black attractive by overhauling neighborhoods for rich people who are predominantly white to have that downtown living in expensive condos. Let’s talk about how schools that are predominantly black are still more underfunded to this day. There is so much wrong that’s going on, but telling a man to get the government to write us a fat check because we’re black is not the way. What really is a single check just provided to black people is going to do? Will a significant amount of black people start businesses and get together to make our communities significantly better. Can that even be sustained in the future for our children’s children? Reality is that black people can manage to do that with consistent UBI coming in year after year. We also need to learn to stick close together like a lot of foreign cultures tend to do. Y’all know the stereotypes people like to use. You see a whole extended family of foreigners grouped together in a house to be able to afford to live comfortably, but you have black families scattered throughout the projects turning to gang and criminal activity to support a family. Meanwhile if every adult got $12,000 and grandma, grandpa, mom, dad all stuck together to really help their children that’d be a collective household of around $48,000/yr on top of the income they receive from working. A whole block could collectively work together to multiply that to make necessary house improvements, create a legitimate housing community with security system. Then this could catch on to several blocks and they could all pitch in to make improvements to the park a recreational center or create one if it doesn’t exist there. I’m sure if this UBI actually makes it through legislation so many black neighborhoods won’t do this. But that is ultimately the necessity for our people that the government can only provide the initial seed. We have to nourish that seed and allow our collection of trees to grow healthy.

Yang: "Resources will reflect the most disproportionately affected population". Interviewer: "But what would that look like?" I don't know? It'll look like allocating resources to the most disproportionately affected population? Such empty questions.

You can feel the passion and sincerity in Yang's voice. This guy's a breath of fresh air.

I became a Yang supporter after his Joe Rogan interview, and I’ve been thoroughly impressed with him as a candidate, and how he is more than willing to tackle both conservatives and liberals on their own territory and bring them together.

Interviewer was terrible. I'm black and I like how he wanted get Yang to speak to black people specifically but it came of as a very unbalanced interview since he kept the questions on that. He is the President so he must think about everyone naturally

The goal is to choose the best for 2020 and it just may be Andrew Yang. His logic is clear and his intellect is refreshing.

Make America Think Harder

This interviewer guy kept trying to make it about race when it’s not, and I could sense the hesitancy in Yang’s voice, trying to appeal to him while also addressing the very real class problem, and not being divisive. Running for president is hard!

Finally, someone who is clear-minded, articulated and NOT a political hack... Good job Mr. Yang

Extremely straight forward. Clearly says no or yes. Then EXPLAINS why he feels that way. Then backs up his perspective with statistics, history, and personal experience.

I can't tell if i should like for Yang or dislike for the interviewer

This interviewers attitude is what is wrong with the world. Yang handled it well and honestly.

Interviewer: It's nice that you're trying to help everyone but what are you going to do for people who specifically looked like me? Yang: You know that you are part of everyone right?

Yang was awesome at answering and being careful not to offend this tool of a interviewer. Only reason I watched the whole video is I enjoy watching him interact with all types of people with different opinions and he still gets his message across. He has had interviews with Joe Rogan, Ben Shapiro, Bill Maher, and many others. Easily the best candidate, that people don’t know enough about. I tend to agree more with republican views, but I’d easily vote Yang over a republican 2020

When I started seeing more of Andrew Yang's and his plans, policies and priorities I actually switched from being a Bernie support to Andrew Yang's. I think he's a step above what Bernie is for

The more I see of Andrew Yang the more I like him, he would make a very fine President and is surely by now at least in the top 3 for the nomination.

Yang responded well to a bad interviewer. Policies aside, it’s refreshing to see someone who keeps their cool and thinks rationally.

When one is running for President, they must handle and finesse all kinds of characters. I’m watching Andrew Yang very closely; seems like a cool and composed guy so far.

So I been reading up on mr Yang and this cat 1. Does not attack anyone 2. Addresses the issue and suggest a solid plan and solution 3. Shows compassion 4. Knows how to debate 5. Is a unifier 6. Truly cares for all US citizens 7. Is thinking of our future 8. Wants money in our pocket not the governments I think we are dumb, blind and stupid if we don’t elect this man. We need to put people that are cable to carry us forward in right jobs. We need to watch his back because many of the elite would not like him to reach the next round.

The most important thing I learned from this interview is Yang's ability to sustain civil conversation in the midst of race baiting. What resilience!

I clicked on this video expecting to watch a 5 minute video. I decided I'd stop watching once I got bored and ended up staying for the full 30 minutes.

Andrew Yang played it well but the interview crossed the line many times

I was a Bernie supporter entering this election cycle and have shifted towards Yang/Tulsi 2020

Rethinking GDP and economic value vs human value. His handling of the Flint questions was very logical.

“What makes you different from Bernie Sanders because both of y’all talk about giving everybody free stuff?” This is such a poorly worded and poorly researched question. The answer is so apparent and it is a gross oversimplification of what each candidate wants to do. Also, this guy WANTS this free stuff.

"we are all human beings, we have equal value" - who said this, Jesus? no a modern a politician, Andrew Yang.

The interviewer was really bad. Yang handled all these questions well.

Yang: Our well-being is important, our children's well-being is impor... Interviewer: But black children's well-being... Yang: So Universal Basic Income works because... Interviewer: But black people's income... I can't with this interviewer. Idk if he personally holds this attitude or he's just doing it for the interview, but this is NOT a productive way to interview a politician! Stop making it about skin color or you won't progress!

I thought that this was one of the best interviews of Andrew Yang. You can tell that he was out of his comfort zone on many thought provoking questions. It's obvious that Yang is a authentic human being and speaks from the heart. Wonderful interview!

This is one of the most compelling interviews that I have seen! If Yang does not become President the American people have truly lost their way.

To everyone who comes on here complaining that the interviewer only talked about Black people... duh. It's an interview with The Root, a publication for Black people. To everyone crying that he was hard on Yang, boo hoo, Yang wasn't phased. Why are you? When Yang says, "...we'll look at "what more can we do,'" (in reference to reparations), I believe him. The interviewer was tough, on purpose, and I appreciate that. After the $1,000 a month, we may be able to tell him (as president) what should be next to repair Black people.

Yang will make a fantastic president! Can’t wait for the debates!
