Hello friends and thanks again for stopping by. I don't think I messed anything up this time around, but feel free to correct me if you find an error. This was a bit late, but all the footage is from the stable version of Android 13, and not the beta. Yes, most of the features looked the same either way, but Google did fix 150 bugs on the stable release and I'd rather take the extra 12-14 hours to use stable Android 13. It's silly, but it makes me feel better. In any case, I hope you all enjoyed the video. Thank you! -Joe Hindy
@@TheJoeHindy when I saw this video, I kept my fingers crossed that it would be the annual Joseph Hindy Android recap and was relieved when it was. You've built a name for yourself, dude! Own it 😃
Just got mine. The animations are significantly faster. Some of the animations are subtly different and discernible by the naked eye. But the differences between 12 and 13 are almost unidentifiable. Thanks for the super-fast update! 🙌 N.B. The 13 has drastically reduced the battery drain of the Pixel while connected to the wi-fi. It is a good development.
I noticed that as well on the Pixel 6. It was noticeably smoother and I think it looks smoother in the video than the beta or dev preview did. Definitely felt nicer to use.
3:19 QR code scanner is part of Google camera app for quite a while, this is just another toggle for someone who does not want to double tap power on button for some reason :)
@@rick-deckard I wasn't implying that at all, all I said was there was a QR code scanner quick toggle and that some OEMs already have it integrated into the camera app. Google counts as "some OEMs" lol.
How is it an eye sore? It's literally the smallest it can be and you won't even notice it. Personally I think it's better than an under display camera with disgusting image quality, or just no selfie camera at all.
I love to see how the Android is evolving every year. I still remember when i first saw Android lolipop i was amazed by it's cool icons and theme and still Android is amusing me with it's new Android 13....
i havent seen an AA video in approx. 5+yrs. i was actually thinking about how everyone was doing, especially Joe Hindy ,since i used to reeeeally enjoy those weekly/monthly Play Store videos where he would showcase the newest games and apps of the time. nice to see Joe is doing good!
Yeah still around and kicking. Fwiw, I still do Android Apps Weekly, every Saturday at noon, and I still haven't missed a week since I started 8+ years ago. I just don't do the video anymore :)
@@TheJoeHindy Joe! wow its crazy to think youve played a big role in my childhood! great to see you doing well, and so awesome to see this channel still here too man!
@@sluice2015 I'm happy that you've enjoyed my work :) crazy to think I've been around long enough that people remember me as kids who are now grown up.
Thank you! I've been on an In Flames kick ever since they released their newer single (Great Deceiver), which means I gotta listen to all those other excellent 90s and early 2000s metal bands too :D
I don't know if this is a bug with my phone or not, but this is really annoying. You can't search your contacts through the "search all" in the app drawer anymore. Like I try to start typing in my buddies name and it just says search on Google. I know it's dumb but it was still a handy feature Edit: I'm on a pixel 4xl Edit again: I see that this is a known bug now
Yeah, I mention that a lot of OEMs already have it integrated into the camera. I know Samsung does for sure. There's a reason I didn't spend longer than 3 sentences on it lol, I don't think it's that big a deal :)
@@Lazysloth85 indeed. I'm a Sammy user and I know Samsung has it. I honestly never tested it with the Pixel but I know it's not the most unique feature.
@@metalmaniacx79 😂 But for serious, that era of metal was so good. I still like the newer stuff coming out and I appreciate the polish, but there's something about those older, more raw recordings that just sound so good.
@@TheJoeHindy I can do this all day man xD. Seriously though, yeah. I like In Flames' latest single State of slow decay, cause the sound reminds of those first albums but yeah In Flames old stuff is way better. Those melodies are amazing!
Just got a new phone with android 13. Only issue I am having is while typing with the keyboard I can't just click above the keyboard to exit the keyboard to make corrections. I have to manually close the keyboard and then click on the screen. This doesn't happen with every app.
@@dragonwake Android updates didn't used to be every like year. Some were, but sometimes we went 2 years without an update, and those were always biggest updates (going from ICS to Jelly Bean, for example).
Please can you tell me how to turn on the task manager that allows you to turn off some apps running in the background ? I updated my Nokia G11 android 11 to Android 13 and I do not have this option. It does not show me the media player too Thank you.
Upgraded my Pixel 4 5G overnight to Android 13 and today I was not able to use Google Pay. It did not work in 4 places I tried to use it. I thought it was that the NFC was disabled but no. I looked for an upgrade of the app and there was none. I rebooted the phone and nothing. For now Google Pay is broken in my phone and it is very frustrating.
This should be just Pixel U.I cause I don't think any other phone is stock like this and if it is, it looks different or does it's own thing. I've never seen another phone that matches this exactly so they act as if it is every phone when it's just the pixel and some phones as far as features, but none look just like this. If I'm wrong let me know what phones use it.
Because the YT algorithm said so. We're not dead though, we're just having trouble getting YT to show our subscribers that we still make videos. It's a complicated thing, but YT kinda put us in algorithm jail and won't give us the tools to help us get out of it.
I would consider any update to be wonderful if it let me take at a glance off my god damn home screen... The Pixel is perfect except for that annoying thing.
It took Google about 3 hours to actually push the update to mine. That's why this video was done and uploaded at 5am EST instead of 2am EST like normal. I think they're rollout was a bit slower this year.
@@hisworkmanship7258 I've used iOS before. Not a fan of the restrictions 🙂. It's like a walled garden. Maybe in the next 5 yrs I'd switch to iOS again, if and only if there's a good reason.
@@hisworkmanship7258 only if iphones became a lot more repairable. If you think the repair program that apple brought helped well it didn't and it was just for PR for people like you.
preventing apps from using accessibility settings unless installed from google play store is horrible. blocking apps from looking in /android is awful, and blocking call recording in countries where call recording is legal is just insane been an android user since 2008, getting to a point where i struggle to see why i should pick android over apple now if it's being crippled so much.
No talk about Pixel 6 hideous auto rotate, adaptive brightness, radio reception performance, unbalanced speaker audio, random display activation, camera performance... So all we care about now is cosmetic stuff, pathetic.
Sir, this is Wendy's. Joke's aside, I am talking about the operating system update, not the phone it's on. I would've done this exact video on a Pixel 6a or a Pixel 5.
