My father was a warrior. He died from injuries received while serving in the military. I was seven when he died. Watching Anduin dealing with the loss of his father hit me rather hard. I may be Horde and have a Blood Elf spirit but I give respect to the Alliance King, he went out like a Boss. On behalf of children everywhere who have had to watch a flag-covered coffin pass by carrying a beloved parent to their eternal rest I say this : They are our dear ones, we grieve our loss, and we will never forget them. We are all part of what they sacrificed for Honor and Duty.
You made me tear up. I never had a father by my side, he left me when I was two and a half years old, but my mother is my real hero and I don't know how will I cope once I lose her. She raised my brother and me alone from 2000s to this day, although my brother was born 9 years before me, 88' and I'm born 97'. I hope you are doing okay now and your father knows up there in the skies that you are a wonderful son/daughter.
Well that was 18 minutes of crying for me. I have been a Forsaken Mage since 2005, and I would do anything for my dark queen, but this boy, I would cast aside all my allegiances and let him lead me anywhere. May you lead your Alliance into an even brighter future and be proud of your name and what you have accomplished.
Seriously, to all the toxic players and non-players out there: Blizzard should be forever remmembered as the guys that invested more in fantasy lore, quality art, music all package.
Milk stealing, price money stealing, making old games worse, robbing price money from winners, pissing on their biggest fans at Blizzcon, turning WOW into one of the most pay to win games ever..... I mean.... This music is legendary and it should have been the soul of Blizzard, but it is not. Now even their shadow can't describe who they where.
His body may be dead, but Varian's spirit is still within us. We will not make his sacrifice vain, and we will make the Legion pay tenfold! For we are the sons and daugthers of Azeroth! We will make the demons burn in the holy light, and destroy their menace from the great dark! Forever! For our dear ones who have fallen defending this world! For our king and our people -- WE WILL PERSEVERE! FORE THE ALLIANCE!! FOR AZEROTH!!
Letting them burn in holy light isn't that bad, but also can be good simply slice them to pieces or crush them with some cool mage spells. And then let them burn. Right?
Sure, Wrathion has some blame, but Varian had a chance then and there. All he had to do was *nothing*, and Garrosh would be dead and there wouldn't be a third legion invasion. You can't dismiss Varian's mistake by simply saying there was no way he could know what would happen. Ignorance is not an excuse. Wrathion and Karioz may have set Garrosh free, but it was Varian who, inadvertently, gave them a chance to free Garrosh.
I too am a Blood Elf and i think Blood Elves do have ties to both the Horde and the Alliance, so for a blood elf to mourn the loss Varian and to rejoice at the sound of Anduin as king is right in a way, but no matter what i will always scream For the Horde, but for the legion i will scream For Azeroth!
you do realize that if Varian were to ever put on the ice crown to be lich king that the lich king would be in control, not varian, and we would be back where we stood with Arthas and eventually with Bolvard, as for the horde and alliance, at this point they should end the war and join forces to take down the legion and protect azeroth
Overhail 3 Actually, from what I can see with Bolvar, he is the dominate soul in control of the Lich King. I believe with a strong enough will, you can take possession of the Lich King. Arthas was able to usurp the power and "kill" Ner'zhul, becoming the dominate spirit. Bolvar did the same. To say Varian could do the same, possible, but we'll never know.
1407mapi The Lich King, as I see it, is a title. It's not a being. Ner'zhul was forged into the first Lich King, but needed a host. THats when Arthas came along, and in Rise of the Lich King, we see Arthas taking domination over the Lich King, becoming the dominate spirit. With Legion, we see that Bolvar is in command of the Scourge, or at least holding it back. He and Ner'zhul are both willing to work together almost to help stop the Legion.
well the lich king is a different entity all together, the only way he was able to get the attention of Arthas was by him taking up Frostmourne which essentially gave the lich king his soul, the lich king summoned Arthas to Icecrown and had him put on the crown, it was after Arthas was wearing the crown he realized that he was being used, the only reason that the scourge wasn't able to run rampant through Azeroth i because Arthas held back the lich king, without Arthas the Lich King spirit or entity would show no mercy and launch a full frontal assault on everything raising more scourge as he went, it is the same with Bolvar, he is the only thing keeping the scourge from destroying Azeroth while the lich king is in control, but eventually Bolvar will give out because it is a constant battle inside his head with the lich king and Bolvar, the Lich King can keep that fight up long enough to beat Bolvar and take full control of his body, sooner or later we will have to face off with the new lich king and after that we'd have to find a way to keep the scourge in check or crown a new lich king
peace is the noblest aspiration, but to preserve it, you must be willing to fight! Anduin changed Varian, Varian changed Anduin. The son of the wolf grew into a paladin, a warrior of the light, Varian's spirit lives within him. For the Alliance! For Azeroth!
You have my armor, my shield and my sword. You have my oath of loyalty and whatever courage I have in my heart. You have my life. Now lead me to where you wish. /slowly bows head and kneels in allegiance to the High King.
I really like how they turned a child that only wanted peace among the races and have him not budge, still not budging on that goal. But let him see some cannot be reasoned with. Like Garrosh or the Legion, and finally get's ready to pick up the mantel as a king of the people. Also Anduin and Arthas are like the same mold, but turned out differently. Arthas a peace loving child turned bitter with time, having everything handed to him and turned evil. Anduin also a peace loving child, having a rough childhood not really having things handed to him. And now is destined to most likely be the savior of the cosmos. I loved Varian despite his attitude at times, but I love Anduin more than most of the characters in WoW lore.
Arthas had everything handed to him and turned bitter with time?... Do you even Warcraft 3? Arthas became vengeful when the Scourge's plagued grain killed and turned undead countless numbers of his people. This made him vulnerable to Frostmourne's (the Lich King's) corrupting influence. His mind was overtaken, it was not evil of his own which he acted on. He was turned against his people, who he'd lost himself to avenge and protect. His story is all the more tragic than Varian's.
it breaks my heart seeing Varian and Anduin in those father-son moments after his death... it just shows how Varian was a badass father... i want to be an epik dad like him!
2 years ago I was listening to this theme when I got the call my Grandma passed away. Now when I hear it I think of her. Today, Oct 27 2019 marks 2 years she's been gone..... it was also her birthdate.
Varian will remain in our player's heart. His story was complete. He represented everything we faced and how we changed throughout wow history. as a character he died in his glorious moment leaving the alliance at its best. Now it's up to Anduin to Evolve and accept this legacy
I am a True Hearted Hordie.. And I have to admit, Varian was probubly the coolest warrior in the entire Alliance, and the most worthy leader/adversary. I did For the Horde back in Wotlk, and Varian alwasy made that super challanging and epic, he felt like an end game boss. AS a character.. I loved how strong he was, and how he put aside his differences at the end, accepting Anduins point of view. His death scene sparked one of my favourite Dialogues in all of WoW. "You will be remembered... As the King who sacrificed his life... For.... Nothing!.." ".... For the Alliance..." One of the most epic moments in Warcraft.. One of the best endings a Hero could ever get.. I'm pretty sure i speak for most hordies when i say... That was a worthy death. And one filled with honour and awesomeness :p
He died a warriors death. He didn't stop fighting, even till the end. Varian was one of the greatest warriors to be in Warcraft. He's up there with many great Orc warriors. Honestly, I see his sacrifice much like Groms. He did it for his men, his people, his world.
That's actually a very astute point to poke at, he actually did die very Grom like, with Greymane (who was representing the alliance) being the thrall, the only difference being.. His death only ment the battle had begun. I do wonder if Blizz actually thought of it like that or not, either way, it is what it is, and you're absolutely right :D
Very much so. I can say that I never had a problem honoring him as Goldrinn’s chosen even while disliking the Alliance. He was always far more than simply the leader of the enemy faction. He lived and died with honor, a worthy example to warriors of the future. May the eternal sun guide him to rest in the Earthmother’s embrace.
I compare the pace of this thematic song to a flower that is about to fully bloom. Starting with the flute, and ending with a full orchestral theme right at the end. At the start of the song you can feel Anduin's doubt to lead the Alliance, and right at the end when he meets his father that his conviction is restored.
Varian..... the best king , the best father, the best warrior in wow.And this song is sad, beautiful, imposing......... When I heard this song, I always think about he 's bad ending..... R.I.P king varian.... we are always remembering you forever..... ........for the alliance....!!! for the king varian....!
beautifull..sad..emotional..make's me cry everytime..cheers Blizz ..i know a lot well known NPC's die in legion but WHY Varian :'( i still dont give up hope that he might get rezzed later in the game by the val'kyr from halls of valor in Stormheim also home for the titan keeper Odyn .....These aren't the undead val'kyr from northrend but the pure warriors of the Light...so he wouldent become a undead like Sylvanas even i have respect for her
First Arthas, now Varian... two Great Kings are fallen.. Two best Friends are now Dead. Damnit WoW Lore... you make us Happy and Cry.. For me is the Warcraft Story one of the Best. I hope Anduin will be a good King in the next Addon for WoW!
The army of lthe light will come from argus to azeroth, uniting all races and beliefs, raising those recently deceased and bringing forth a new age, the destruction of the burning legion! In the light we are one! FOR AZEROTH - FOR THE LIGHT!
SPOILER ALERT: The Army of light is at this very momment attacking Argus as seen in the Light's heart questline. Also a regiment of the Army of Light joined forces with the Netherlight Temple and the Knights of the Silver Hand with Lothraxion, apparently an uncorrupted Nathrezim, as their commander sent by Turalyon. They most likely came from Argus, techncially.
This is years late, but WHERE did that picture of Varian and Anduin playing in the snow come from?? What a joyful and carefree picture! For two people who were often so troubled, and sometimes had a contentious relationship (even if they loved each other very much) seeing that picture makes me so happy - just looking at the smiles on their faces . . . makes me want to cry. I'd like to know the context, if there is one.
While I will die for the Alliance, I do hope for one day where the names "Horde" and "Alliance" are obsolete. Where instead of this divide, we are under a banner of what's more important, and shouting for something more important other than a petty feud, and against a true enemy, not misunderstanding. Varian was a great man who was no doubtably fighting for the same thing, and I'm sure anduin will fight for the same thing. Oh, almost forgot to mention what that banner is. We were under it when the legion attacked but, I hope, in the future we will go under it again and stay under it. Where we will all cry out, orc, human, elfs of both kind, dwarfs, yes even gnomes, etc. All from each and every factions and their sub-factions I don't have time to list today, "for Azeroth!"
