On 9 Feb 1964, the Beatles gave one of the most significant performances of their career - their first appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show. It went down in history as a record-breaking TV spectacle and cemented their position as a legendary band in the USA. The marvellous Tessie O'Shea appeared on the same show and played her Gibson UB3 ukulele-banjo, which makes it one of the most famous instruments of its kind, having been seen by 73 million viewers on that first transmission alone. It was also used by Tessie in films, stage shows, recordings and many television appearances throughout her life. Now Andy Eastwood uses it on special occasions...

Wow. Of course they played it! Yes, I'm the only one interested, but the interior if the case is gorgeous.

I can’t remember the details, but a magician called Fred Kaps once had to follow the Beatles on a tv show, I think it was another of their appearances on the Ed Sullivan Show. Fred Kaps was mainly a silent act and was really great. Worth looking up.
