Weirdly, even though they often worked together, Wayne didn't have a lot of time for Jimmy Stewart, at least off screen. Although their political views were very similar, Wayne thought Jimmy soft-pedalled his views and sugar coated it a bit too much. So Wayne didn't like to socialise with Jimmy off duty, because he didn't want to get into an argument.

I never heard anyone ask him why, if he was such a super patriot, he went out of his way to avoid serving in WWII. Lots of other Hollywood stars did, and it didn't affect their careers.

I loved any movie john Wayne made,there has never been anyone like him, and there never ever will be .our son in law gave my husband a picture of mr.Wayne ,it hangs in our home .🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗

I can understand a man like J W ( M . M. ) not liking Jane Fonda, she was not only beautiful, but intelligent, articulate, intellectucal and independant, not the sort of person that floated his boat. He also hated John Lennon..does it mention that? He was pro anything the US was invovled in , be it right or wrong and narrow outlook. Yes I liked the man, but honesty does judge celebritiesin time.

I love many of his movies, especially the westerns. What I find ironic though, is the fact that he dodged the draft but played several war heroes. A bit hypocritical, especially considering his hard line views.

He could stand in front of a camera and read dialog but his single opportunity at directing, "The Alamo'" was a disaster. He actually asserted that it was every American's patriotic duty to pay good money to view his boring train wreck.

He played certain characters well. But it seems he never did anything in his life like his characters. What a fraud!

I couldn't stand ole johnny wayne!!! He was a make believe hero on film only. He didn't serve one day in actual military as at the time he was becoming a star which was more important to him than serving his country. I was in Viet Nam scouting for the 5th Spercial Forces Group up in the I corps when his Special Forces movie came out and we were able to view it. Everyone laughed at his dumb ass acting especially when the helicopter crashed and he ran out, total bullshit. I was shot down a few times and never witnessed anyone running out, totally false like him.

The Alamo? This shows Wayne did NOT care about others, he was committed to getting his own way at any ones expense. This was his persona, As to The Alamo, it should have reflected the fact that terrorists took control of another sovereign country, instead of portraying it as some form of heroic defiance of tyranny, which is was not. No not a fan of his MANNERS at all.
