I think he did do this to honor his brother, but he clearly isnt andy, their moles are in slightly different places, go back and watch the fridays apology video and compare it to this.
Imagine one year Jimmy Kimmel or some late night show host is retiring, and then the next host is all a big mystery. Then on the big premiere night, Andy Kaufman is there sitting down.

He can be seen on stage WITH Andy at the Kutchers Catskills performance with the rest of the family as well as in Bill Zehme's bio. He even played Tony Clifton at Carnegie Hall! He has a sister too just FYI. And a real daughter named Maria Colonna, not the lady at the awards show.

The morning I heard Kaufman was dead, I was listening to the news for proof and found it when reporters put the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center spokesman on mic who confirmed it. Kaufman didn’t have the kind of money to get a major hospital to lie to the media for him. My brother lived in L.A. and saw him at the premiere of the My Breakfast With Blassie movie shortly before and said he’d looked genuinely really sick, and I later saw a photo of him at that time and he definitely looked like someone with cancer, in a way I doubt you could fake with exterior makeup because people with cancer, it looks like they’re being eaten from the inside. Also I heard Tony Danza later say he was in the same hospital for something minor and was told his friend Andy was there, and he went to see him and says there’s no way it was a hoax, he looked really really sick. This was a few years ago, Danza has nothing to gain by lying about it in an interview thirty years later.
All of Andy's family does this, obviously on his behave. Andy's friends and co-workers, like Danny Devito, say that they know 100% he is dead. So yeah, this is just Andy pranking us from his grave. I love it!

Nope, moles are in different places. Brothers have similar mannerisms because they grow up in the exact same environment. When my younger brother and I worked together, people thought we were twins even though hes 3 inches taller than me, he has different colored hair, and hes 3 years younger. They look a lot alike but if you know what to look for you can tell it's not Andy. Though I do believe he is responsible for the entire hoax to honor his brother's memory.

I'm almost positive Michael wanted to do something "Andy-esque" in his honor. It's harder to pull these hoaxes in the internet age, but I think this is just a stunt in the avant-garde way that Andy used to do. Andy was a performance artist. Not really a comedian. And this is his style to a T. I bet Zamuda and Michael came up with this and decided to go with it. I dig it.
I do think Andy is alive. He would sure be someone that could pull it off. No doubt it is possible with his talent ... He got tired of Stardom and wanted to disappear ...

Andy is dead and its a shame Bob Zmuda and Any's brother keep creating these hoaxes to get media attention, book deals and other things of financial gain. one minute one of them is saying hes dead, then the next minute he's alive again and as soon as they have a new book deal they change their stories again. They are not doing this as part of a prank for Andy, they are doing it to make money from the dead and these producers and publishers that keep giving them deals to do so are just as bad.
I see your point, but this seems like something Kaufman would have asked his family to do. He lived for this kind of stuff. If anything, I feel like these hoaxes are sort of a tribute to him and what he stood for.
I don't think Bob Zmuda and Andy's brother Michael are in kahoots together in this to garner publicity. I haven't seen Bob Zmuda or Andy's brother on T. V. or any other media for many, many years. if it's only for publicity, they failed miserably.
Perhaps it is Andy's way of keeping his family financially secure, it keeps his name in the limelight. It keeps people watching his film and looking up his name. That's what I think it is. I think he told his family to do this to keep them secure.

the brother is actually Andy- #1) even if this were his identical twin, the chance of them both having the exact raised mole on left cheek is slim to none. #2) doa google search on Andy and Michael Kaufman and see if u can find any photos of them together as children (didn't find any) and even if there is a 'brother', this is not him, and Andy is using his identity. Any facial recognition software can confirm / this is Andy Kaufman 30 years later/older.
If Andy Kaufman faked his death what job has he been doing all these years? Wouldn't it make more sense to continue working as a tv actor, and try to get into movies. Why sabotage his career with a fake death? Maybe if he became a really successful movie star you could imagine it but Kaufman never found that level of fame.
To me, the two plausible scenarios are that the brother was trolling us to honor Andy or that Andy actually made arrangements for the restaurant meet in 1999 and the "daughter's" subsequent appearance.

He’s lying. There is clear deceptive behavior here in his speech, movements, and expressions. Terrible liar lol. However, I do think it’s funny and clever how he put this whole thing together in honor of his prankster brother.
The actress lives in Manhattan. Her last name is Tatarsky and her REAL father is a substance abuse psychologist. Michael Kaufman hired her after he met her in early 2013 at a benefit. It's also almost certain, according to people who know him, that he lied about the letters "he found" and the entire story about going to the restaurant. He is trying to ride the coattails of his brother, and has crashed and burned.
Had anybody else watched the movie 'Man on the Moon'? I suggest watching it. This is a complete fabrication. Both Andy's brother and his real daughter are in the movie. This actress looks nothing like Andy's daughter. His own brother came up with this story and I believe it was to capitalize on Andy's death. He should be ashamed of himself. He should be in prison for fraud. LET ANDY REST IN PEACE!
