I am 63 years old I love Andy Williams even sent I was 8 years old I never stop loving this man I love Danny boy there are lots of songs by him and Christmas to
@@TysheenOrane I have to say it’s kind of sad that all the old crooners have gone away. What happened to the heartwarming music that many of us grew up with? This kind of music always tugged at my heartstrings. Thank God we have the recordings saved for posterity. Cheers!
I just love this man's voice!! This performance was from 1962. He sang this song for the last time in 2011 before he died of cancer. Truce class personified!
Andy Williams was one of the great crooners - a vestige of the early 1950s that eventually centered around the Vegas strip. He had his own TV show which featured many guest musical groups and solo artists.
You're very perceptive, much moreso than many people. The dawn of the talent show seems to have bred a large crop of screamers and shrill belters. Andy Williams just emits the high notes and also has an effortless vibrato. He was one of the best crooners. And you get that!
I've been a fan of Andy for over 50 years, such an amazing talent. He was up there with the best, Sinatra, Dean Martin, Tony Bennet and AL Martino. His covers of movie themes put him in a class by himself. The love themes from The Godfather, Speak Softly Love, and from the movie Love Story, Where Do I Begin ... Andy owns them. Would love to see you reacting to them; a little Sinatra and Dean Martin would be nice too.
My Mom loved Andy Williams. He hosted his own network TV show for some years where all kinds of different singers guested and sometimes sang with Andy. Mostly known for his Christmas Songs. His honey voice was perfect for Christmas music. Also sang The Godfather Theme.
You should watch Donny Osmond sing it in concert as a tribute to Andy Williams. He gave him his start in show business and with this song and the old clips combined, it's a very touching tribute.
Andy sang a lot of movie theme stuff and lounge lizard stuff, and two or three of his songs made a strong showing on the pop music charts - like this one: "Can't Get Used to Losing You."
This was the theme song for the classic, iconic, movie Breakfast At Tiffany’s starring Audrey Hepburn. BTY, if you’ve reacted to The Righteous Brothers Unchained Melody, it was recorded live on The Andy Williams Show.
A Henry Mancini classic and one of my favorite songs ever penned. Sublime. Andy’s version is my favorite. If you want to her a more different and modern take, check out Morrissey’s version.
You do know that Andy Williams didn't record the song until 1962 ?? Not 1961..Everyone thinks Andy Williams recorded Moon River first...Henry Mancini wrote the song for the movie Breakfast At Tiffany's in 1961. Audrey Hepburn sang it in the movie. Jerry Butler was the very first to record the song in 1961 and it became a hit. Andy Williams sang the song on his TV show and did record it on an album in 1962 but he never released a solo recording. It just became his theme song. If you want to hear an absolutely beautiful song please listen to Jerry Butler Moon River 1961.
Folks and I watched Andy's show regularly. He was great, but my favorite Christmas crooner was Johnny Mathis. A tremendous Bay Area high school athlete, he turned down an Olympic trials spot in the high jump to go pro with his singing, for which we were very grateful. I suggest you check him out. I imagine he was a guest of Andy's, too.
Andy Williams was part of what I call the Era of the Singers. That period between the Big Bands and Rock n Roll eras (from the late 40s through the early 60s), when singers emerged to be stars. Johnny Mathis is just about the last of them still around. Compared to the recordings from those days, the hit songs of the last few decades can seem terribly over-produced. It seems they don't just let them sing anymore. More's the pity.
