Angelina Jordan Creates A New Art Form + Spiritual Statement 

Alan, every now and then I find another, yet undiscovered clip of Angelina. Early this morning, I found her video that you reacted to here, it was so moving in many ways. The song choice, the purity of a child, the softness, that brought calmness to the hustle and bustle around her. This afternoon, and after a little scrolling through the opening RU-vid screen, I was quite surprised to find this year old reaction of yours. I read all the comments and reply’s and there is no question that many people have be moved by this short Angelina impromptu moment. Regardless of religious beliefs, she is a miracle that is his world needs. There is no question she struggled during the last few years, not being able to perform live, but she was as determined as ever not to let distractions around her, stop her from her mission to spread love and kindness. She was blessed for her endurance, as was witnessed by many during her concerts in Norway this summer. She sang better than ever, although its hard to improve on her years of near perfection. What really stood out, above her talent, was how grateful she was to be there and that she genuinely humbled by the presence of the fans that came from near and far. She truly is love in human form.

Thank you for pointing out the art in her soul. I think this was an organic event. I think Angelina and the one behind the camera had a synchronistic moment where this idea just grew out from that source in the universe that sent Angelina to us, here on earth. Angelina is so focused and such a professional and her subtle spiritual meanings are beyond belief , she lets nothing distract when she sings. She is an emissary of God in the Earth, and she just seems to know what her purpose is while she is here!!

Great insightful video as always. One thing that has really stuck with me is AJ a vid on YT when she was maybe 2 - 3yo and she's talking to and petting her bird named Jordan. It's super cute and funny but when I watched it I picked up on something that i think says so much about the beautiful person she was even at such a young age.... so she's petting and talking to Jordan and then he bites her nose.... now AJ didn't get angry or run to Mum crying like i expect most kids would... no she continues petting and give Jordan a kiss! About 10 seconds later She then slows down the petting and seems to have a deep thought that she really focuses on and says "ouch" as if Jordan was the one hurting...! I'm not sure what to make of it and I'm probably reading too much into it but like I said it has just stuck with me. Wait... it sorta looked like in that moment she maybe made the same soulful convection she makes with us with Jordan the bird! I dunno I think this girl was just made a bit different to the rest of us.. Anyway when you mentioned her spirited connection it made me think of this. Cheers

Life is a waking dream. It may originate from "out there" but it is realized "in here" - in our minds and our hearts. That's why the Angelina Jordan experience is so special. In all her songs we are privileged to have a glimpse into her internal world - and it is a beautiful one. The only better venue in Rio would have been one of the endless montainside barrios, in her bare feet, surrounded by other barefoot children.

I'm reminded of the 2nd judge on Norways got talent. She to Angelina, "You are music". I agree with you. The world races by while Angelina finds a hole in space and time to create art that can not be duplicated. What a blessing she is.

This is absolutely unbelievable. An experience of a live time. It actually moved me. For me it has something of a serene moment.

What is amazing to me is that Angelina’s voice and song comes through all the noise, maintaining her purity of tone and tune amidst all the craziness and cacophony with the wierdness of Christ’s statuary surrounded by tourists. Fly me to the moon is remarkably perfect song for this environment. Note that she sang this same song for Quincy Jones birthday concert. The fact that this little girl was singing in a spot light with just piano accompliment in front of a huge audience piercing the dark to presumably a cell phone camera in the back of the audience is truly astonishing. It reached me through the visual noise.

Alan...i totally agree with your interpretation of the EVENT of Angelina Jordan singing Fly Me To The Moon in the middle of a crowd of tourists irreverently milling around in front of an historic monument to the life and love of a prophet, saint, and/or God. However, I hope that at some time in a future video about a future Angelina performance or recording you revisit this short masterpiece.......and point out what i believe is her and Grandma's intention was to point out the sad truth that the masses of ordinary human beings are, in this video as in all of time, unaware of the true presence of God that is right in front of their eyes,(Angelina). As a spiritual being, I have feelings about the tourists/people being insensitive to the art in the background......but, for the life of me, i cannot comprehend what my appropriate reaction should be to them ignoring and UN-perceiving the sacred one in real life (Angelina) right in front of them. AND Angelina and her Grandma are totally conscious of the enigma of it all and captured the moment that a prodigy, genius, goddess, superstar, is being unseen and unheard and ignored.... So how does Angelina respond??? Her last words in the song........as she turns to the crowd........"I love you" and i will add the implied "any way". Love

This video also shows Angelina's explicit trust and immersion in her grandmother's art. The breadth of metaphor is incredible. The actions of the background actors is a perfect definition of humankind, yes? Nice analysis and great perception.

Everything she does may have or have not have any rhyme or reason but I will say this everything Angelina does, singing or just every day life, it all goes back to one thing her family she was sing this stuff when she was in her mothers womb, weather it was from hearing her mother, father, uncle, grandmother, grandfather, there talking, the music they played and listen to, when she was born she was thinking of Billy Holiday😀 I guess what I am trying to say is her family (Her SHIELD) her up brining her love for others. Always interesting! I feel sorry/sad (which isn't the best word here) for the tourists, much as I do the beach goers in "Valerie ", who are in the presence of amazing talent and are not aware of it. I think (I can't know) it was unconscious. This is a very comfortable song for Angelina and we see many versions of it as she matures. Granny may have made the suggestion or just asked Angelina to sing. Or Angelina just started singing and grandma started filming. I feel they have a very symbiotic relationship that requires little direct conversation to make things happen. Thanks for your musings. To complement 9Ballr's comment. I think the converse works as well for Angelina. "I am, therefore I sing."

Not only was Angelina singing the song perfectly in tune; she was hardly disturbed by the guy on the loudspeaker. This is a video of just a kid on vacation singing to herself; and doing an incredible job of it. Great find and a great reaction.

In this video i suspect Angelina is just practicing for an appearance later in this trip. Her Million Miles lyric video however, is filled with touch points many of us recognize from previous works, the ladder, and I think her third or fourth visual reference to the moon. The most unusual element of that video is the portrait without her face.

I do find it sad when visiting special sites and people trash it. And here we have a young princess who reminds who of what it is about.

Elsewhere I had commented that listening to any of her songs is like meditating. Her voice is magic, soothing, peaceful and when she sings very calm.I liked Angelina & her Guitar Uncle, his swaying of the head while playing the guitar.He is perhaps impressive, be at Jazz, Tom Jones,' or anyone, Angelina is at ease with him ! That is when she was 7. Over the years she has surprised many experts. 'She is just 15, confident like she was at 7. I loved her gestures, specially when she was presented with a teddy bear or something; she embraces the programme presenter, puts her arm around her & says thank you! Very touching for a kid her age. It worked for me. The contrast between the sounds, the idea of a babble of normal life going on and somewhere within it a beautiful song (which has been on my mind all day - must be something in the air) that underpins it all. Sometimes, if we listen to normal life carefully, we can hear the song.

Noise. Singing. A demonstration of meditation, in a way. Noise of the world, but sing and go to that special place, a place described very much like the realm described often in NDE's. That is what hits me more often than not. ~~

I agree, the composition is like a painting. Angelina a soft angel sitting on a branch beside Jacobs ladder blessing the people. Cut out from a painting. Contrasting a megaphone. Gordon Ramsy with a trombone just came in to the kitchen! It is comic, at the same time poetic. And a dynamic image. A setting that can linger in your mind in search of a meaning.

Given the setting, Psalm 96:1 does invite a personal response: "Oh sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth!" And while you're there, say "cheese".

Here's my view on this: Someone in an art gallery is staring at a portrait, staring intently at it. Someone comes up to the person and says, "Excuse me!. You seem very into this portrait. May I ask you, what is so moving about it?" After a couple of seconds, the person speaks. "I'm not sure. I'm trying to figure it out. But it definitely has my attention." There are so many things going on in Angelina's video I need to watch it several more times to put all the pieces together and enjoy the sum of the parts. Yes, Alan, I can understand where you're coming from. A work of art? There is no beginning, no ending. Just a period of time captured on video for us to watch and absorb it's content. Of course, the real trick here is to go directly into the video and pass by your interesting comments. Sorry, but that will work. After listening to you plant ideas in our head about what is going to happen, that messes it up if you know what I mean. Thanks, Alan. You bring provocative elements to the table and I'm sure your goal is to highlight moments in Angelina's life which bring a kind of depth to feelings of love, and joy, and sorrow.

There is something fantastic about that child.

First time I've seen this clip, and I like your interpretations very much. I see this on multiple levels. First, she sounds marvellous, of course. Then there's the contrast between her sublime vocals and the clamour of the crowd. And the odd juxtaposition during it all of the religious symbolism of the statue. Also, she appears to be practicing maintaining focus on her singing in the midst of all the distractions. That brings me to the core spiritual message this delivers to me, and that is one can achieve pure, living in the moment consciousness no matter what your surroundings. And I believe that is the essence of Angelina's music, she is fully present in every moment of every song, every phrase, every word is a gift she uses her talent, her generosity and her devotion to craft and gives it to us.

In my opinion, Angelina's new original Million Miles, with which she is finally launching her career with Republic Records, would serve as a more convincing argument concerning her new art form, even if we do not see her, but only hear her weeping voice, and a more powerful spiritual statement than that short video of her singing for herself in the midst of the touristic commotion in Brazil. I cannot wait, Alan, just cannot wait for you to comment, with your usual profound insights, on her amazing visual, literary and musical creation as she is entering the stage of her stardom.

Thank you for putting this video into a perspective that a good many viewers might have disregarded. You opened it with a comment about "Some of us take pix of us and famous landmarks - Angelina responds with song." AND HOW. I'm curious how many of that day's tourists completely missed this young girl who wasn't even at the top, singing away. "Didn't even notice", obviously. It reminds me of all those 18 million fans who claim to have been at Woodstock... or the whiny complainers around Abbey Road Studio on that January 30, 1969 day when an hour's rooftop concert was cut short. "Too much noise!!" Uh... yeah... let's not listen, eh, folks? Ah well - they have their journey, too.

Alan. Your interpretation may be correct, but from someone that is aware of being in the zone and being able to shut out everything else around ones self and concentrate on what one is doing. I see this as an exercise to be able to zone out and just do what you are doing without all the distractions stopping ones self from doing your task. Grandmah seems to be teaching AJ to zone out. Watch AJ's eyes, and you will see she is completely in her zone just like she is while on stage.

When I first saw this video, the first thing that came to my mind was "It's a shame those people in the background don't realize they are in the presence of the greatest singer in the world!" I was a jazz musician for nearly 50 years and, you are right, perception and interpretation is everything.

I like an 'artful' aspect of AJ's songs where sometimes they're clipped or truncated by the limits of media. Or perhaps her grandmother's timing instincts. Such as in the video clip you shared here. Seemingly cut off. Because of video time limits perhaps. The same for the recent upload of AJ covering "Heal the World". Again, cut off. Thoroughly demonstrating the experience of this technological moment. Assisting the context through the lack of formality. Cuts off arbitrarily. Think: I Want You (She's So Heavy) by The Beatles as another example in recorded audio cut off by choice.

Angelina Jordan is a most intriguing person. Alan I thank you very much for your interpretation of this short video. I feel neutral about it at this time. I find it interesting Angelina has no apparent ego but Norwegian culture may be a big part of that. Being void of a ego, in my thinking, allows Angelina to achieve her full potential which borders on scary. We also know Angelina is full of empathy, making it her mission to improve the quality of life for everyone, especially children. She is just approaching her 15th birthday and thanks to the pandemic is more isolated than she normally would be (she would certainly be performing concerts once her album is released but that has to be put on hold). For now, I am staying with Angelina being a music prodigy specializing in vocals who works tirelessly to improve her craft. There is much to be learned about the only (in my opinion) child vocalist who can evoke tremendous emotion to any listener who opens their hearts and minds to her.

I didn't have seen that video from your point of view, but I could say I agree. Maybe for her it's easy to add meaning to all (or almost all) the details in the things she does. It's admirable. How many people (me included) may not have realized the sense of what she does in this video...

After a lot of Jazz musicians love to perform Brazilian Bossa Nova songs, including Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Diana Krall, Jane Monheit, Laura Fygi... just to pay somekind of a tribute (hope it's written correctly). Though as you said, she may have wanted to describe her own feeling at the moment.

Angelina's grandma has an advanced degree in psychology and she was a child prodigy writing poetry and creating artwork.Then including her love of jazz and we can understand why Angelina has her as her main mentor from day 1.Grandma basically downloaded all of that to compliment and trigger Angelina's gift.Right or wrong this is what I believe.Then you add uncle Michael who has incredible work ethic and dedication to Angelina's artistic vision and everything begins to make sense.Mom Sara,sister Juliette,new baby cousin Athena,they all keep her heart open and sensitive.

I know what she is doing, she's resisting uncomfortable over stimulation. Singing to yourself helps screen out the cacophony of the crowd, which can be overwhelming to a highly sensitive, and highly empathetic person. Notice that she is looking away from the activity, towards a peaceful view, and the calming tone of the song? I suspect She will always need protection from a hectic high stress lifestyle. Interesting take, but my take is her family is doing tourist things while in Rio, Grandma is filming as always & Angelina spontaneously burst into song. The song is one of her favorites & is the closest thing to a signature song, but who knows.

The human race once existed in two layers of universe - an analogue wave spiritual layer and a quantum digital material layer. We fell from the spiritual into the material.
