I think it is the first pre-competition audition to see who will be in the official competition. After this all the kids go out. The judges decide who to keep. Next the children are brought back in, some names are called and they leave the ones who will be contestants.
Thank you! The song is an old jazz classic. Angelina sang it beautifully, & acapella, no less, which is not easy to do well, even for an accomplished adult. It was not another audition, but rather the next stage on her way to winning Norway's Got Talent. This video was cut short, so you don't get to see the delayed reactions of the judges, who were only momentarily speechless. I once saw a silly comment, where someone wrote, "She needs to get her teeth fixed." They must not have remembered their own childhood enough to realize that permanent teeth don't just pop up fully formed, & all she needed was time. At that stage, one might get a little whistle through the teeth, but I don't think there was much, if any, effect on her voice. Anything you react to from Angelina will be fabulous, but it might be interesting to do the songs in chronological order, to track her progress as a vocalist. I really appreciate your reactions.
The form of the teeth is playing a role when you sing opera and similar music and forming those big vowels that fill a concert hall, but in this style of music, as you say, it's mostly affecting the consonants T, F & S

This is the first the judges saw her, Gloomy Sunday was the first in front of audience. She also sings I'm a fool to want you, at Oslo , when she is 12, wonderful !!! Please REACT to that one !
The other contestants were thinking about how bad their chance's were when she started to sing , some of them looked pretty sad :( . One of my favorite audition video's .
Yes as mentioned by some peepz here this acapella perfirmance came next after her gloomy Sunday audition. So the judges already knew her here but still the looks on their faces are just priceless. And yes this round is to determine who will go to the semifinals I guess. Coz after this she will perform Bang Bang by Nancy Sinatra and I think it was in the semifinals. The look in other contestants faces says it all. They knew there is already a winner in Angelina. And everything after this round is just to formalize her crowning.
This was the very first audition. She was 7. When she sang Gloomy Sunday, she was also 7. At some point when she sang, "Bang Bang: and "Summertime" the Gershwin tune, she had turned 8.
This is one of the very few performances by Angelina in which it is obvious that English is not her primary language,still,she kills it! A capella at seven years old usually consists of Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer and is not memorable unless you are a parent of the child singing it! There are a couple of earlier videos of her singing at home and in a music store but there is one that really stands out,. and I believe it was her first studio recording. The song is I Who Have Nothing and at 6 years old she smashes it! I try to know as much as I can about these songs but the only thing I can recall about I Who Have Nothing is that Tom Jones sang it in the late 60s.
Douglas Howser I was the one who fortunately was able to get that 6 year old performance. There is some dispute whether she was actually 7. One of the most famous versions is by Shirley Bassey. And she of course went on to provide James Bond title music. (Hint)

As mentioned here, this is a second audition to cut down the contestants to a more manageble number. They "audition' in larger groups here, and the judges don't say anything, just takes notes. But you can read them clearly when it vones to Angelina, in there kinds she was already the winner. We all knew that already... She was and is one of a kind and her raw talent shined brigthly here. Others were of course good, but against here there were no chance. When she was 7, it was all about her raw talent, her mimicking those old jazz Legends, already found her prefered music style. Now she is evolving, learning.
One year later / my second comment : Enjoyed your summary at 8:54 , ' Very Disturbing Video ' ! ! ! An interesting choice of words , yet as you pointed out ' everything was standing still ' and ' shell - shocked ' and 'mesmerized' . I would say it seemed the auditorium was ' paralyzed ' . I think She was attending a public cultural school of art and music like many other kids do both in Norway and here in Sweden, but I don't think she had a personal vocal coach as such. Your review of her a capella singing is spot on, singing like this is usually extremely difficult, and so much more in a song like this. As Lawrence Karpman allready commented, this is a second review by the judges so they had already heard her sing Gloomy Sunday, but I suppose they got a second chock from her ability to sing such a difficult song without any instrumental backing. The 'Judges Cut' is done without any audience to influence their decisions, much like auditions to a classical music conservatory, and after the performances each judge make their personal notes without discussing it. Once they heard all the contestants they confer and decide who should stay for the next round. p.s. Looking forward to viewing your reaction to Angelina's continued journey in this TV show :)
I think the issue might have been that her performance of Gloomy Sunday so precisely matched Billie Holiday's that one judge, at least, said in an interview that he had to be sure Angelina's true voice was on show, not just her imitating. Her rendition of I'm a Fool to Want You left absolutely no doubt she is an authentic singer -- of course, as we know now after a hundred or so cover songs of everything from jazz to rock to blues etc etc, Angelina has the vocal ability and the musicality to do it all brilliantly, always bringing her own interpretation to the performance so that people feel she does them better than the originals!
They were all mesmerized : the Judges 'cause they are thinking, " Yes, she IS for real ! ! " and her fellow contestants behind her are realizing ' We just lost this competition ! ' ( someone commented that one of them was crying for this reason ! ) On a side note : If a little girl with disheveled hair in a white dress and barefoot comes walking out of the moon-lit mist from the woods in a horror movie . . . . . .
It was the audition to see if she even qualified to compete for Norway got talent. Then as you lisrened, the next three songs you played in order, Gloomy Sunday, Bang Bang, then Summer time. Fantasrtic! It's like she is bringing all the artists of old to a re-awakening, but she does it better, she is definitely so special. This was the first auditions to weed out contestants, that’s why there are a bunch of kids, and there’s no music. for sure Angelina had a prior audition with unknown judges, this is the first time the judges heard her face to face but for sure the first audition gave these judges a heads up about her talent. From this audition she passed to the next one with people in the theater where she sang Gloomy Sunday.
The judges listens to everyone without comments to after hearing everyone deciding of ones to send home or keep. No one knows until then if they made the cut or not.
They were trying not to show favoritism at the auditions but if you watch full clip they give away how impressed they were. The song was by Billie Holliday about her battle with drugs and alcohol.

That's right, you'd be wrong to think she was singing a capella. The music was there... in her head. About teeth, all children suffer from it, but even more so when a child is born in winter in a very cold country. The mother and the child did not have much sun or vitamin D, despite fish food. And the child often suffers a lot with his teeth. Angelina had a slightly distorted mouth for over a year because of her teeth. She obviously had trouble with that. But she still sang beautifully. Because the talent is not in the mouth. Remember : Auguste Renoir painted without using his fingers at the end of his life. Beethoven was deaf. Angelina has genius too !

The teeth tell the tale of the timeline... If you look at the teeth, it is clear that "gloomy sunday" came before "I'm a fool". The judges first saw her on gloomy sunday. This was a cut round that happened between the initial audition and the live 'public vote' rounds.

You are right. Billy Holiday did do a cover of this song, which is why Angelina sings it. She does a surprisingly good imitation of the sultry Ms Holiday. "I'm a Fool to Want You" is a 1951 song composed by Frank Sinatra together with Jack Wolf, and Joel Herron. Frank Sinatra co-wrote the lyrics and released the song as a Columbia Records single. The ballad is considered a pop and jazz standard. I don’t believe this extremely talented girl does this particular song justice. It’s possibly a bit to mature for her.
