This cover is glorious, it lets her voice absolutely shine. Thanks to Toby for asking AJ to sing this reinvented cover of his song for his Piano Diaries album. Toby is quoted saying, “Working with Angelina has been nothing short of inspiring. Just to let you know, the other co-writer of the song, BC Jean, was the first to sing the song as well as the person the song came from. She had just broken up with the man that she loved. Per Toby, they played it for Beyonce one day and she really wanted to sing and use this song, and the rest you say is history. Angelina and Toby have been working together for a while now and are creating new music for her to sing. They teased a song at a special event called Bad Valentine and it should be coming out within a few months. This collaboration is awesome! The Piano Diaries is Toby's project of other singers singing his most famous songs. Angelina of course is singing this song made famous by Beyonce. Angelina has the official music video for this song and it sounds a bit different, more pop/commercial. It is known as the Artist Version and it's really good too! You should check it out! Toby was so smitten with Angelina’s phenomenal talent that he asked her if she would be willing to provide her interpretation, arrangement and rendition of this song as he fulfills his objective of reimagining his songs for his Piano Diaries compilation. There is this live version with Angelia, a cello player and Toby playing the piano. There is also the “official” version where Angelina walks the streets of London while mouthing the words to this song. There is a distinct difference in the musical arrangement of this official version compared to the live version. The most notable difference for me is hearing a guitar take the lead in place of the piano. IMO, the official version was created to appeal to the younger generations. I also think the live version appeals to all generations. For me, I much prefer the live version.
Hey I can't remember you guys doing any of her Las Vegas concert. If you want some great videos to react to go to James Thiels channel as he has done some fantastic editing on a number of songs from the two concerts. You freeze ... endlessly listening to her wonderful voice and admiring her fantastic musical sensitivity, even the simplest song that passes through her hands becomes fantastic. She is simply unique and with a wonderful melodic perception. This interpretation (isn't a cover for me) is curative for the your soul and the soft background accompaniment of the piano and cello give her a beautiful silky backdrop, until that wonderful whispered final phrase "... but you are just a boy". She had a concert in Vegas the end of February. Two shows on the evening of the 29th with a total of 38 songs. It was at Westgate where Elvis performed and they had her sign the wall there. Her Mom make a documentary called "10 Years in The Making" that Angelina narrates which is good. The sites where you want to go for the best video's are: James Thiel, BigAngieFan, and Joey Farr. Joey did a great video of Unchained Melody and an extended version of her opening performance "Diamonds Are Forever" With the band intro of the Bond Theme, her stage entrance, and her greeting the crowd which is heartwarming. She also introduced a new song "Princess of Ruins" about the girl she gave her shoes to.
