Great reaction. This is a song Angelina wrote herself. It is to those who 'protect' her from dangers, they are her 'fire'. And she realized what an imposition it has been on her family and the sacrifices they made so she can chase her dream, therefore she asks them to 'forgive me for all that i am'. Deep lyrics and masterful song writing. From a 12 year old at the time!!!!
Love the interpretation. Some think god, I can't argue with that either. I think fans for sure though, you never know about 'promise you won't give up on me'. I feel like it must only apply to fans, but who knows, just an emotion, a fear, that could be family or even god right. Worries, emotions and fear hardly have to make perfect sense. But she's noted her family and her fans in her inspirations and drive. God fits like a glove too. All 3 do. In one sense it'd be cool to know exactly what was on her mind. But it's also a staple in great music, in her music, universal lyrics we all can relate to and figure out our own meaning for, and our thoughts on what the writer meant. She does really well there, sharp kid with a great team clearly. Even setting out to write a song about the loss of her grandpa, and also for everyone else who's experienced loss, well she did both perfectly clearly in one song. 12 years old though? That's crazy for this one, probably wrote it at 11 then.
Angelina said this original song is about a strong love that protects you. I love the lyric, "surround me with angels, don't let them go". Angelina calls her fans her angels. The lyric, "forgive me for all that I am" shows she understands her career has placed a huge burden on her family and management team. Bless her wonderful family for all they have done to support Angelina's career.
If you notice, this also one of the first performances where she was not wearing the white dress. Symbolically, it shows that she is growing up! There’s a music video of this song she did with her Grand Mother where it shows her entering a tunnel wearing the white dress and exiting the other side in more adult clothes. Our barefoot princess always amazes me with the depth of her talent, and I look forward to her continued growth for many more years to come.
