I'm crying, man. This is how this guy's intense and haunting music always resonated in me, even as a child. Thank you dear Maestro, for all that Darkness and Light - your music will forever be a major part of my sonic landscape. RIP Angelo
@@positivegradient I think even if one had never seen the show, they would be able to understand the emotions of the music. I'm not sure how, but some chords and chord progressions can sound inherently sad, or hopeful, etc.
@@positivegradient this does seem to be the most logical answer, however as you can see here, others as well as myself have never seen the TV show yet I come back to themes very often
Billy Pop I don’t know if this was a true story...but this whole moment of explaining and expressing all the feelings was so poetic. Really amazing work itself.
@@jakegevorgian Lol why wouldn't it be? So hard to imagine 2 artists creating new work of art? Ugh, there are so much ignorant comments on RU-vid and internet in general... For clueless, here's David Lynch explaining how he does music for his movies with Angelo B.(surprise: he told the same thing Angelo told.): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0hVlRi4lbw0.html
@@charliebrown3001 same.. I got into it about a few months ago and words can't describe all of what it makes me feel. Part of the reason being the hauntingly beautiful music creating such an eerie atmosphere. Also, thank you!! Inspired by Lana (:
It's 8:35 in the morning on December 23, 2022. The sky is blue and the sun is slowly rising over a Norwegian winter landscape. And here I am, down with the flu, balling my eyes out listening to this. My wife introduced me to Twin Peaks, and we have a tradition of rewatching it every year now. For those that haven't watched it yet, or for those who are rewatching it, make sure to stay extra present during "episode 14" (Lonely Souls) - I think this is the single most powerful TV experience I've had.
Jokes aside these are the sickest composition skills I've ever encountered. True genius. No wonder when he and David Lynch sat together a masterpiece named Twin Peaks got created.
Yeah I would have figured it was more purposeful and nerdy and dry music-theory kind of composition but I guess he's on a level where that's baked in naturally. Also it's funny that David said "That's Twin Peaks" because that sad-then-bright-then-sad is sort of the way you feel across it.
You can clearly see that he is telling the words in the exact same way that Lynch spoke it to him. He's so to say back in that moment. It's coming from his own audiovisual "memory", like it would come from an audio recorder.
I love how this song represents the duality of Laura. In the begining we can feel the mood of Laura in the woods at night and perceive the darkness from her soul, later we get closer to the climax and we understand where all the pain and sorrow comes from, then the climax resolves beautifully, just like Laura, because after all she was just a beautiful girl whose life was tacken away.
My favorite video in the entire world. I've always been scared of this day coming, now it's here. May he rest in peace and may his music live on forever.
If you don't get goosebumps listening to this, picturing David describing it and reacting to it, then you are missing something important in your life.
Angelo's storytelling hability is as impressive as his composition skills, because obviously this didn't happen in 4 plus minutes, but he sums it in a fascinating matter for the video purpose.
Personally, I won't be surprised if it did happen in that span of time. What people don't usually see is the decades of education and experience behind those four minutes.
Rest in Peace Angelo. Your music was the perfect soundtrack for David's brilliant ideas. You will be missed, one of the most underrated composers of our time ❤️
The music is amazing, but what gets me each time is the way Angelo describes David talking. The way he talks -- his phrasing and cadence -- really resembles the conversation style he wrote for some of his characters. I just keep hearing Gordon...
This masterpiece tells the whole story itself. The moment it would play on the show, an image of Laura would come to your mind and make you feel both terrified and sad but at the same time kind of hopeful. This sort of feeling that made you wish the horror you/she witnessed was just a dark nightmare.
It brings me back to my childhood. I was going across my parents badroom, curious hearing this theme, trying to take a look at tv and then my mom said: keep goin to your room, it's not for you :P
Rest easy, Angelo. My mother never had the stomach to be able to sit through Twin Peaks. But as a classical cellist, she is always more than happy to sit down and listen through the original soundtrack with me. Your work has given me some of the most crucial bonding experiences with my mother. Anytime I watch this video with her we’re both in tears by the end. I can’t thank you enough for your work.
For the last few years, I’ve been constantly rewatching this video. Anytime I felt like everything is getting worse I was able to somehow get support from this beautiful man, explaining his art in such a beautiful way. Rest in peace, master
When you hear the song before knowing the story, and you just want to cry and run with fear, and you dont know why... That, that is talent, is professionalism, sensitivity, feeling, that's art!
Watching this now is so emotional, not just because of the Laura Palmer story and the music itself, but the nostalgia we get of watching Twin Peaks for the first time, so long ago, and how special that time of our lives was.
Не умер, а ушел в вигвам. Спасибо за вечную музыку к шедеврам Линча. Falling в сердце на всю жизнь, правда там пела Джулия Круз, которая тоже не так давно ушла от нас. На той стороне играет отличная музыка.
No fucking way. He's gone? I just discovered his genius, what a robbery of life. I can't believe I missed this beautiful man's passing. I hope I might draw near his talent someday.
Apparently, Twin-Peaks-related RU-vid comment threads are the good part of the internet (or maybe Twin Peaks fanatics are just the good part of humanity). I love seeing all of this heartfelt appreciation for two of my favorite artists, Lynch and Badalamenti. 🏔🏔❤️
