They weren’t “ahead" of their time, in fact they were very "of" the time, songs like this were only able to get popular in the 2000s and kind of the early 2010s, if this song was made today nobody would really care about it because now rap and stuff is mainstream
In my opinion, Tom's voice started to change in 2002 when he started doing box car racer, trying to take off that strange but originally and amazingly perfect tone that stands out to tom in the beginning of his career. Medications didnt do anything in his voice, dont be silly.
the painkillers did do that to his voice, but he also did try to sing differently, personally i've always loved toms singing, sure he's bad sometimes, I saw blink 2 days ago and he sounded amazing, was the best night of my life, they were really amazing live
@MirrorevO Dude he has always sang like this live. I saw start the machine and i know he was abusing his pain medication but he was still making amazing music, and he wanted to change the way he MADE music. He would have made AVA even if he wasnt abusing his meds
