Angels Ridge - Cairngorms - Angels Peak, Carn Toul and Braeriach
A fantastic long day in the Cairngorms National Park to take in the third, fourth and fifth highest Munros in Scotland. We walked in through the Chalamain Gap and onto the Larig Ghru up to the Pools of Dee. From here we left the Lairig Ghru and contoured into An Garbh Choire, visiting the tiny Garbh Coire Bothy enroute. Next up was a steep pull to Lochan Uaine and the start of Angels Ridge. An easy scramble but in an awesome location, nice grippy granite too:)
Once on the Cairngorm plateau we went out and back to Carn Toul then walked around the rim of the huge Corries to Scotlands third highest mountain - Braeriach.
took us just over ten hours - a great day out in the Cairngorms :)

Looks a great day and vid. My first time ever doing a long walk in the Cairngorms was the round of the White Mounth Munros a few years ago after getting washed out from the west coast. Was blown away by the sense of scale. Your walk is definately on my bucket list for some point.

Great stuff and the joys of filmmaking at the end. Looked a great walk and haven't really been back to the Cairngorms for ages, but as you say the walks in can be a killer. Have to say I love exploring them more in the winter. Great photographs as well. Atb

From the wee bothy did you take a direct line up to the Green Lochan?? I went past the bothy a bit, then upwards and it was quite a sketchy route (not recommended!)

Very easy scramble 😅😁 (your definition of "easy" is different from mine 😋) Spectacular and awe inspiring views 😮😍 I have 2 questions for you- hope you don't mind: 1) could a non mountaineer person do the easy hikes that you do (this one for example)? and 2) would you have a recommendation for a book (or books) about Scotland's mountains for a beginner "mountains in Scotland" lover? Hi Astrid, thanks for the message. Afraid I cannot really give advice as there are so many variables, As you say, one persons easy scramble is another hardest climb. This video for example , I class as an easer scramble but the hike in is very long and to a rathr remote region which brings its own risks. My best advice would be to hire a mountin guide for a day or two and try some out with the knowledge that you are with someone who can help and look after your safety . That way you will get a feel for it under good safe conditions :) ATB Murray

I am heading over to Scotland next week on a trip up to Orkney and I am making a point of going via Glencoe just because of watching your videos ! What drone do you use ? I'm guessing it's a mavic ? I’m heading to the Cairngorms this summer and am tempted by this route. Wondering if it’s feasible to add Devils Point after Cairn Toul. Adds a lot of up and down to an already long day…

Hi Bob. Its over ten years ago now and route I took from Linn of Dee was cycle in to Derry Lodge then through the Ghru to Angels ridge and return over Cairn Toul and Devil's point. It was a very enjoyable day out.

Belter of a film Murray! How was the scramble? Just like Curved Ridge? I've been waiting all summer for the right conditions to walk they Munro's plus Devils Point< Still waiting :( Loved the outakes too! PS Please stop using green lettering, I find it hard to see LOL!

Hi - I personally found the ridge at grade 1 and in my opinion a good bit less technical than Curved Ridge, but it all depend on your personal preferences and weather I suppose :) Its worth it purely for its remote location though :) Not sure about the green - tried black and white and it really depends on what I put it over - us take more time editing ;) haha Thanks for watching ATB Murray Angels Ridge - A scramble up the NE Ridge of Angels Peak - The Cairngorms National Park
