Angelspit are fantastic for their lyrical satire on religions, society and corporations; their lyrics are riddled. I'm not goth, but I love how they slap the hypocrisy of religion and politics with the most ironic band image.
I love the "the devil made me do it!" bits. it sounds like some little kid in the 17hundreds pleading with a priest, blaming the devil for her wrondoings.
In the beginning there's a woman that whispers "I made a copy" and I was just watching The Ring and when Rachel discovers the copy of the tape lying on the floor she says the exact same the in the exact same way. They used the sound clip from the movie. I think that's really cool. :)
Back in the early 90s, I used to say "The Devil made me do it" ALL the time, lol. Instantly fell in love with this song and its Strom remix. DestroyX is a Dark Goddess of Death in all her cold and beautiful brutality; like the bastard daughter of Glenn Danzig on acid. Wish they made this and 100% into videos. (its gothic industrial punk with an evil anime loli twist; i.e. the embodiment of seductive brutailty - what my dad calls "Devil Music", to which I always reply "DEMON! ...not Devil")
Just so people don't get the wrong idea from that, don't forget that anti-christian does not equal satanic necessarily. Much evil has been done in the name of all religions, my strong dislike of christianity does not push me towards satanism, in fact my overall dislike of religion pushes me away from all of them and I have my own set of personal values, I don't need an organisation or guide to tell me what is moral to me..
No wonder why I like songs like this because they have a lot of meaning. And my parents say it's 'bad' to listen to this type of music. I convince them that I could listen to what I want because of who I am. They let me listen to their gangster rap music about sex and money and parties and stuff but they don't want me to listen to this? I don't understand, but I still listen to it anyways.
This is about the timing of disruptive sounds and requires that there be no tonal shifts. It is the nature of industrial to have well-timed disruptive sounds.
I remember when the movie The Rite first came out, i watched a trailer for it and shortly afterward had a killer urge to listen to this song. I hope that's not a bad thing.
@TheAshleyAdorable Still the bomb? No no honey, goths came before scene. Without the goths your type would not exist. Scene and emo have us to bow down to, we paved the way for your easy street hot topic ways.
Saw them in LA with Lords of Acid. Relationship with the sound guy is so NECESSARY for electric. I had to look up their stuff to see if they were any good.
Completely irrelevant to your comment, but holy shit I've been trying to remember the name of that band for the past 2 years...... Lords of Acid - Sit on My Face, that's the bloody song I've had in my head that I couldn't remember the bloody name of the artist! Thank you random internet person.
S4R1N Happy I could be of assistance. Actually "I sit on Acid" (The song youre thinking about) is one of my least favorite ones. BUT if you dig their style they have some AWESOME ones. Here is a list, basically if you like that one you like you'll dig the rest. Pussy Rover Take Over Out comes the evil lover the Power is mine gimme gimme scrud bi u Their new/er stuff: Sole Sucker Mighty Rabbit Long Johns
Ah that's right, thought I might have had the name wrong. I remember a few of those, Rover Take Over, Gimmie Gimmie, Scrud bi u and also Lucy's f*ck*ng Sky. Haven't checked our the last few you mentioned but I will now, cheers!
valid, still believe than the combined voices is what adds depth to this song and yes, its supposed to be cathartic excercise so it sounds more like a ranting than a song
Dont hate me for saying this, this is just what comes to mind when i hear this. I wouldn't mind hearing this band on the radio, its 20 times better than britney spears, and im quite sure if hese types of bands made it to the radio i would actually start listening to the radio, but its not quite good enough for me to actually want to listen to on a regular basis.
Riot now! Saw them live on M'era Luna. You would believe how cute she was, when she was broadly smiling and hurrying to get her camera to take a photo of the crowd.
"the devil made me do it".... next time i get in trouble in R.E i'm going to say that just to mess with my teachers head , he's just too much fun to tease!!!

and just a personal note I always took the song (and a lot of their others) to be more anti human than anti religion, and just seeing religion as a symptom of the disease that humans are.
@Serapherus runswithscissors's comment is very old, but I hope he sees your reply. The Kovenant's transhuman topics are indeed similar to this song's topic, and I would recommend them to anyone who likes this song as well.
@AKAMECHI there's a diff between demonic and satanic. and, don't you think she's just saying we're only human? seems that way, human's aren't as strong as God, you have to ask Him for help, right? ^.^
@bgtbvc3 This is not suppose to be Industrial neither is Blood on the Dance floor. Angelspit is Agrotech and it`s still in part of the Industrial culture. BOTDF has nothing to do with the industrial culture at all. They are more like an emo band. It suprises me the have bin on tour with Angelspit
ACTUALLY if you listen to other song by them you get the picture of them being Satanists.Having done my research, this song sounds like a Satanist's Pride Anthem or something. Another of their songs "Head Kult" is clearly anti-christian: "Pious vermin, Incarceration. Spineless minions, flesh for the lions." Enjoyable song to listen to, both of them actually, if you don't think to hard on what you're listening to. :P
JigsawSith I mean this is very easily a demon's monologue. I can just hear the devil screaming this at God... fuck your plans for redemption. Very strong words. yet i still cant help enjoying the music.
i don't understand :| (sorry i'm a 13 yearold who can't understand certain things, but is she like, a satanist or is this just sorta like the ozzy osborne thing but better music?)
