Most people find themselves growing impatient at times in life and sometimes even feeling anger welling up. If this leads us to strike out at someone in a rage, we have crossed a line. The sages of the Talmud go so far as to say that someone who gives in to a fit of anger is as if they are worshiping idols. Judaism believes that we have the ability to control our expression of frustrating and infuriating feelings. This program explores the issue of impatience and anger and shares some approaches to how we can succeed in keeping our cool.

Even if you don't have a problem with anger, this lecture is chock full of practical character-refining ideas which can be applied to any character defect we may have. Add it to your "must listen" list!

Rabbi, THANK YOU! I have been working on my anger for years also and have reaped the benefits of gaining more control, but know I still have work to do. I will probably put this lecture on a loop! I’m looking forward to your next lecture.

At about min 2 you described the reason "we" are here. We are to "perfect our character traits" as our "personal life mission". Then you said, "We are not looking for C- Jews but A+ Jews." I believe the largest issue I face is where non-Jews fit in to that plan, if at all (being a D- non-Jew) Having left christianity, I feel like I wander in a bit of no-man's land. Some say the Torah (and therefore this path to being "A+") is for "the Jews". Others say, Noahides can be righteous. Others say Noahides is a false teaching. Personally, I can see how virtually everything in the Tanakh is directed at Israel or the "children of Israel' or the 2 Houses etc. Given the mission of being a light to the world, that makes sense. Israel carries an enormous burden with that calling, and so it would seem to make sense that she was specially equipped for it. But what about the rest of us Having believed a lie for so long, I find it very difficult to trust myself (or others) with matters so weighty. I fear following yet ANOTHER false system.
