"If it moves, they incense it," LOL Seriously, the symbolic language of Anglo-Catholicism speaks to something deep in the human heart. It leaps over hurdles of reason or habit.

Praying and hoping Anglicans and Anglican parishioners keep studying their Bible and ro compare it to their doctrines 2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. If you are a Anglican, know that even your ministers know that you are worshipping on the Catholic day of worship (Sunday) and not the Biblical Day of worship (Sabbath Exod 20: 8-11).⁷ “Many people think that Sunday is the Sabbath, but neither in the New Testament nor in the early church, is there anything to suggest that we have any right to transfer the observance of the seventh day of the week to the first. The Sabbath was and is Saturday and not Sunday…” Rev. Lionel Beere, Church and People, September 1, 1947. To worship on Sunday is to be under the Pope's Mark; Catholicism boldly proclaim that Sunday is the Lord's day because THEY wanted it to be (The Convert's Catechism of Catholic Doctrine (1957 p50) ; which is not based on Scripture and which breaks the 4th Commandment where God tells us to worship Him on His Day which is the Sabbath (Exo 20:8-11).l, Catholicism BOASTS that protestants have no good reason for worshipping on Sunday - they ought to keep Sabbath as Saturday if they follow their Bible (John Gilmary Shea, American Catholic Quarterly Review 1883). One cannot compromise, its either Sunday under Catholic law or Sabbath under God's law , even God warns us we cannot serve God and mammon (Luke 16:13)

It seems to me there are many, many Christians in China, Church is an all day affair on Sunday because the people l saw worked all day six days a week. I had leave at 8 am and l got back at 4 pm. I had to walk, take a bus, and walk. I went to church at the Anglican School.

"If it moves, they incense it, and in some services I wear more lace than my wife!" Brilliant! That quotation matches one I heard from a wonderful female colleague in Nursing: "For some tasks, there just isn't enough Chanel in all the world; is there, Mark!" In the UK there used to be the phenomenon of the Anglo-catholc approach to liturgy appealing to the deeply Working Class in our society. Thus, in my maternal home-Country of Scotland, the Presbyterians could never quite rid the Nation of a very Anglo-catholic version of Episcopacy. Richard Holloway (educated by the Kelham Fathers of the Sacred Mission) writes of this in his autobiography. However, the task for Anglo-catholics is to keep a certain historical, iterant, young male Jew as the object of such glorious liturgy. Yes, we worship and adore the Pantocrator (that bit is easy!); but we need to keep the "fully human" part before us, too. THIS was the man who endured all that agony.

Well-trained ordained clergy are a blessing to churches, but Iran's example shows that churches can flourish without them. That of course presumably includes the Lord's Supper. For the sake of order it's probably best generally to have ordained men (or women, if men are not available) administering the sacrament, but if you haven't got them there can be no doubt that lay people can have a "valid" Lord's Supper, or Holy Comminion, or Eucharist, or whatver we may call it. It's great to hear what's happening there.

This sounds good but I would like more details. I would like to support a ministry that is reaching this part of the world but what kind of accountability and oversight does this ministry have? I got burned in Charasmania and Pentecostalism years ago and walked away from it because of scam artists, fakery and just plain silliness. That being said I would like to hear more.

Should perhaps have said Todd still is a church planter. It was John Wimber who I heard wax lyrical about Todd's gifting in this ministry

This is certainly not the Middle East I recognize. In the 1960's. it was well known, among certain circles, that the sister of the Shah was a closet Catholic. Don't know what happened to her after the Shah's downfall. As regards church growth and religious breakdown, there was a scholarly survey a few years ago (from the University of Teheran?) in which the data suggested that most Iranians did not follow Islam, specifically Shi'a. There was also a resurgence among even Zoroastrians. It is true that the older churches have suffered terribly and are leaving in droves, especially the Assyrians, the Chaldeans, and the Palestinian Christians because of an unrelenting and brutal oppression. The Turks are a great problem and have long sought to eliminate minority groups, most especially the Kurds - the only ethnic group that stood up to ISIS. The Syrians also resisted ISIS but had a much more difficult road after the US started to bomb the Syrian positions, in spite of the fact that they and the Russians, - yes, the Russians - were only ones preventing ISIS from sweeping all the way to the Mediterranean and down to Egypt. As regards "the fastest growing", it depends on the base you start with. The English and Americans have always had the extra hurdle of overcoming centuries of Western imperialism in the area. The French and the Greeks not so much. Indeed, most of the Arab Christians in Palestine are Greek Orthodox. What is going on in the Middle East today could quickly turn into a third world war. It is that we should pray does not happen. There are so many crazies in positions of power, here and there. Do not underestimate the fighting prowess and determination of the Iranians and their clients, nor the Moslem Arabs.

@@davidsprouse151 Hello, Don't know what "truth" is but I do know what I saw and see. A quick story about the truth. Maybe 20 years ago, I was walking by a public parking lot in Cambridge (MA), run by Somali immigrants. I caught a snippet of a question that a driver asked the Somali attendant: "What is truth anyway? This is one reason why I avoid Cambridge whenever possible.

@@davidsprouse151 Hello again, Another true story from the People's Republic of Cambridge. One evening, I was leaving a CVS store in Porter Square and could see a couple engaged in a very intense conversation. I went out of my way to avoid coming near them but not so for another of the Cambridge hoi aristoi. He interrupted the conversation by asking the couple if this was a private conversation or could anyone join in. The male gave him a cold stare and went back to the discussion with his partner. Cambridge is full of such people. These are the same guys who will tell you what to do with a political mess 6000 miles away. They end up being advisors to think tanks. We've all seen the results of that. Beware of happy talk.

What makes me sceptical about this is the casual way in which he says that people are healed when they are prayed for, as if of course obviously that’s what happens. Not in my experience. And Kevin doesn’t say “What really? That’s amazing!”. It suggests that there’s a conspiracy of mutual delusion, (just as there is in charismatic spirituality when everyone mutters, “Mmm thankyou Jesus” as if they are experiencing something. A conspiracy of delusion and self-delusion.) So I wonder how much of the rest of the analysis is fantasy. Honestly no idea about that.

You are welcome to visit us anytime and see for yourself. Yes, it does happen. All the time. Come and see. I would just ask you to be intellectually honest. Don't let your personal experience determine reality. Globally, 80% of the time when someone accepts Jesus it comes from healing and deliverance. That's sheer fact. You are most welcome. Fly into Erbil, Iraq. I'll pick you up. We have plenty of room.
