Locusts, Grasshoppers, and Katydids have strong mandibles for a reason. If it truly felt threatened, it would indeed bite. Don't do this at home people.
@@reeno5296 I was one time as a kid. I never fucked with them after that. I had no idea they could do that. ... So with my new rage and hate for all grasshoppers. I found a pet praying mantis and fed it grasshoppers.
I still think it's fascinating at how many different forms of life have learned how to communicate not just with each other, but cross species as well. This one isnt necessarily angry, but definitely annoyed.
It really drives home the idea that we all evolved from a common ancestor. We can recognize that a bug is "upset" - maybe we're not sure if it's angry, annoyed, fearful, frustrated, etc. But the bug is clearly displeased, as most animals, from arthopods to mammals exhibit very similar behavior and vocalization when agitated.
@@koutosaryy well kinda but sponges were literally one of the first things to branch off of all of life’s common ancestor theyre literally 700 million years old
He’s probably been bitten countless times by insects with even stronger bites and is completely used to it. I’ve had my parrot for my entire life. She only bites me once in a blue moon when she gets startled. It barely bothers me, although tbf her bites aren’t very sharp, she just kind of clamps on my forearm, ear, hand, or fingers like a vice grip. I rarely bleed from her bites, almost always just bruising and an dent. It sucks, but after 20 years it starts becoming annoying more than anything. I feel like that’s where he’s at with painful insect bites/stings
Why does it piss people off. You don't have to rotate the phone in full screen. It's not that this is the kind of video you would want to watch in hd fullscreen anyway.
Plot twist: the little clicks aren't coming from the insect, the dude just has a geiger counter in his pocket, and it's picking up on whatever caused this creature to exist
He seems mildly annoyed, but in the most human way. His chirping is kind of adorable. For such an intimidating bug, it's actually quite cute in personality. It's like a high pitched cartoon character talking super fast, saying 'hey, leave me alone'. He even moves and reacts like a chill person who's hot and bothered lol. What a funny looking guy. It's like, he knows your his friend, and doesn't want to harm you. So he moves out the way, and expresses his frustrations.
At least he didn't just IKIKIKIKIKIKIKI REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEIKIKIKI.
Thanks for your description! I didn’t know a Katydid could have such character. Looks like it was giving a good warning, but seems it would never bite. Interesting.
These kind of insects are known for biting people sometimes. But not a single time has one bitten me. And I've handled thousands of them and I normally even put my finger on their mouth
Small animals definitely have emotions, things like anger (to defend itself like in this video) happiness (when it eats/finds food) fear (from scary animals) surprise (when something scares it or makes it confused) tho it's all downsized because there's only so much that their cute little brains can process
Perceptox The visitor I'm more likely to sting your gut till you burst than that innocent little critter is. So be careful what you SAY ABOUT INSECTS.... There's only one of you, and there's only one of me. But there are around 10 quintillion of them, AND I'M ON THEIR SIDE. SO YOU'LL BE FACING AN ARMY 10,000,000,000,000,000,001 STRONG.
That vein of animals (grasshoppers, katydids, etc.) Have VERY strong mandibles that could definitely sink into your finger if it's truly threatened. But most times they'll just make a cute little uniquely "annoyed" sound.
Imagine you're just chillin on the side of a plastic box and all of a sudden Jack the giant is trying to fondle your feet with his finger... Weeeeeeiiiiiiirrrrrd😑...
Honestly that is the least you need to be afraid off. Wasps n stuff like that, STAY AWAY FROM THOSE. especially the type that flies up to you to Land on your face.
