Thanks Matt. Definitely has to be a solution that works for everyone. Been hearing horror stories of kayakers having shotguns pointed at them in places 😱
Right but there is respect too, often clueless city slicker goobers will come through fishing areas on kayaks or whatever and with zero regard for fishermen, they probably don't even consider it, and so yeah, in that case, the little bastards end up ruining the fishing and will even sit there in the hole you were just fishing talking nonsense while you respectfully wait for them to pass so you yourself do not pop their floats or blow up kayaks etc...just remember, if you do not fish, if you mess with a fishermen, we will just mess with you back, we try hard to not ruin the river for you with hooks, but if you are straight up dicks about it, then you might find some hooks right where your floating vessel is destined to ford.
I thoroughly second this notion. When I’m fly fishing, I pause for the rafts to go by, when I’m paddling, I stay way out of the way of a cast or line in the water. The fish don’t care either way, they’ll reset from being caught in 13 seconds, they certainly don’t mind a quick raft flyover.
the only time i asked paddleboarders to go out a little is when i caught a 6 or 7 lb bass right when they were about to come by me and i didnt want to lose her. but ya ive had boats spool my fishing rod because they drove super close to shore. thats the only time i get mad really. but i dont mind boats either.. one trick is if you cast behind a boat or even people throwing rocks ect you can still catch a fish. sometimes i think they follow boats and when people make noise ect it makes the fish more active.
@@StephenJReid It's cus many others will blatently disrespect the fishermen, I have many times hiked through miles of trail to get to the water finally, having limited access, and people in boats or w/e will just completely blow out the area for no good reason, and then effortlessly float off or boat off...utterly disrespectful a lot of the time. People like you are why I still give the benefit of a doubt, but I sadly get proven wrong most of the time these days...so I get why they were already having a bad opinion.
When I paddle board and I see some fishermen. I try to go as far around them as I can. Because when I fish and someone goes rite into my fishing lane witch I like to be around 30/40 feet depending we’re I’m at. I’ll be pretty pissed to. But I wouldn’t yell at them unless they started staying in the spot I’m fishing at then I would tell them if they could please move so I won’t hook them or some other excuse.
Nope, but I used to mumble a lot and people were always complaining about it so I think that may have made me a bit more deliberate. Also my parents are from quite different parts of the country
@@StephenJReidha, I'm the same when i started youtube i really had to annunciate because American's were like what part of Australia are you from? Lol. I've lived in Scotland for years so wasn't sure if maybe you had too ❤
Ah, those must have been Dutch fishermen. Most are okay, but the ones that start shouting nonsense, are kicked out of the country. Most take a ferry to good old Britain. Terribly sorry.
its not that mate youve wrecked someone elses day out for the sake of your day out, and if there legally fishing then theyve paid to be there, paddle boarding will soon be licenced in northern ireland anyway like waterways england does and then you'll have equal shares
Didn’t wreck anyone’s day out. They had finished and were walking past at the time. Also not convinced that someone paddling past over 1min would ruin an entire day.
@@StephenJReid thats not really what your video makes out does it or i wouldnt have said that, frightend fish will go off the feed for hours and i can assure you paddles threw the water does just that
That excuse doesn't wash. What happens when a log floats downstream? Do you shout at that? Besides, what's more disturbing for a fish, someone paddling by or having a metal hook rodded through their mouth and dragged from the river?
