My Drill Sarn’ts were mostly super awesome and professional when we were being good soldiers. When ANYONE fucked up, even if was small, it was almost an immediate 180 into Drill mode. There were signs no IET or AET soldiers are allowed to shop at Hospital Shopette.... we got a sideways stare from a senior medical NCO and a Dr./Nurse, however we had Drill Sgt "Permission", medic explained the situation and they were like "Oh".... afterwards when we were back at the Company the Drills and 1SG spoke to us like people asked how kid was then made us laugh by asking did he eat anything colorful! 😆 🤣

“When you watch everyone clear their weapon and hear a bang.” Had something like this happen to a soldier in my platoon at basic. She walked off of a still live range with a MAGAZINE STILL IN HER WEAPON, and her weapon STILL HAD A LIVE ROUND IN IT. My DS saw this, made a B line to her, grabbed her weapon, and pulled back the charging handle. When the live round popped out of her weapon, the amount of anger and obscenities that came out of his mouth brought the entire range to a halt and she was smoked the rest of the day. So not only did she leave a range before being properly cleared, she left the range with a loaded weapon and her weapon was also not on safe. There were so many things she could have done wrong, and she did every one of them.

We were on bivouac during basic, and I set my rifle down while I was doing something else and walked away. From out of the blue, we all heard; "Whose mother-blanking rifle is this??". I was the only one not holding my rifle. Drill came running out of the woods and threw my rifle at me so hard, it knocked me on my rear. I spent the next 40 mins doing burpees in the mud while each drill took turns telling me things I didn't know about my mother. I can still see his face as he was running at me. The clearing rifle meme hits a little too close to home. I remember when I was in basic at FLW, we got back from a simulation day where we were using blanks and those laser tag harnesses, and when we got back to the battalion we were in formation when some private in second platoon's rifle went off right in front of the battalion HQ. All 4 of the other companies were outside of their barracks training either in PIT or were in formation and the entire battalion just froze and in seconds everyone was locking their bolts back on their M4s and putting them in the air and yelling "no brass, no ammo, weapon on safe!" Guy got an Article 15 and extra duty and he had a LOOOOONG private talk with the Company Commander and the Senior Drill Sgt.
@chrislaws4785
@chrislaws4785 2 года назад
Dude the low crawling shit I HAVE DONE. When I was in AIT, I come down the barracks hallway while on fireguard and one of my DS looks at me and in a quite voice goes "Get down" and points to the ground. He and I both get on the ground in a low crawl and he points into one of the rooms, and that's when I see IT....a private laying in bed ON HIS PHONE. DS tells me to go left and he goes right, we low crawl in the pitch black room up to the bed, DA at the head of the bed and me at the foot. The private has no idea we are there as the light from his phone is killing his night vision. The DS comes up from the head of the bed behind the private, moves his head right beside his and stays there for a second, looking at what's on the private's phone before he says in a soft tone, but horrifying manner, "What are you doing PRIVATE?". That's when he finally notices the DS's face less then 2 inches from his own and when I see the color drain from this private's face and to this day I swear I saw his soul leave his body. The private jumps up, scared to death, slams his head into the bunk above him and me laughing so hard I started crying. The DA smoked that kid SO badly I would have felt bad for him, if only I could have stopped laughing long enough to that is.

Good DS story for ya about "Polished Turd". Getting ready for inspection towards the later part of basic; We couldn't find a good way to get our uniforms set up in the wall lockers without it draping over the drawers inside. I came up with a good way to organize it, but was too afraid to be singled out so I started to undo it the way the DS wanted it to be done, JUST as he walks by me. He sees what I did, and said he wish he'd seen it earlier so we would have time to adjust everyone's lockers. FFW to later, we're all sitting on the drill pad and the DS promoted me to PG for my "ingenuity that could have landed us the perfect inspection", followed by an immediate demotion 2 seconds later for "keeping a good idea to myself and not telling anyone about it". So yeah.. Standing out in basic or not keeping your head down - not always a bad thing lol.

Not gonna lie the excess paperwork is one of the reasons I didn't sign that reenlistment for the 4th time. Spent 3 years in Japan and we got shit DONE, came back state side and everyone and their civilian counterpart wanted a form. Want to get rid of an old broken radio? In Japan you make sure it's scrubbed easy quick check with commo boys, and 1 document for the PBO chief. State Side, Commo needs the CO and 1st SGT blessing, then their CO and 1st SGT has to bless off cause they fall under motor pool?? Then PBO chief needs you to get S-4 NCOIC to bless your form, then he wants an Original..but wait..you also need the headquarters PBO to bless off and he/she also gets an Original... Needless to say, I got out and enjoy a lovely new career as a Logistics Manager in cargo pants and a T-shirt making 5X what I did as a Supply Sergeant. RE: Unsecured Weapon Gollum. I was staff on a Leadership course (Canadian Army) during which one of the other instructors scaled the outside of a 20 foot tower and successfully snatched the GPMG without waking the two sleeping troops inside. I guess they were napping in shifts with the sleeper on the exit hatch so they couldn't get caught, only the second troop also fell asleep and fucked their system. Watching four troops (the two idiots and their relief) looking for a "misplaced" 26lb gun but trying to look like everything is fine was a highlight of my career.

When I was in Ft. Hood we had a new private in our commo shop and it was his first field exercise with the unit. Having just come out of AIT, he was super worried about securing his weapon at all times; but the other guys in our shop told him that active duty was really lax and nobody was going to freak out about him leaving his weapon laying around. So he went to sleep with the rifle just laying on the ground next to his cot. Obviously, I took it and hid it and he had a complete panic attack the next morning. It was beautiful.

I GUARANTEE someone else has this story as well. In basic training, at around 1 in the morning, for some reason I woke up and looked over to my right and see the rim of death bobbing between the rack, not making a sound My D.I. pops his head up(apparently he could smell my fear). He just stared at me, never blinking. Reached up behind him and grabbed an unsecured weapon from the rack next to mine. He put his finger over his mouth and then crawled away, once again never making sound. Things got very interesting very shortly after that.

Every one of our 998's with add on armor had broken door latches, wheels cambered out to about a 45 degree angle, and worn out 300 mile brake pads. It only took about 5 years for the powers that be to realize that adding 5000 pounds of armor to a 5000 pound vehicle probably isn't a good idea. We had to change our brake pads more often than our butthuggers.

As a mechanic Sgt, making shit work is my domain. Comes from my time as a civilian mechanic. I have a soldier that's more experienced than me working on these trucks, but when it comes to rigging shit and getting it to work, I'm your man. We had a problem with an M915 where for whatever reason, the headlight panel wouldn't come on.....unless you pulled the fuse and put it back in. So, I just drilled a hole in the dash, wired an in-line fuse to a toggle switch, and put a sign that said, "when headlights don't come on, flip switch down and back to up position." And we haven't had a 5988 with the headlights not working on it since.

I always tell civilians that HMMWV's are the most durable pieces of shit you can buy. They will break all the time for no reason whatsoever, but they are impossible to kill. I had one in Iraq that would have something break on just about every mission, not enough to warrant getting a new one, but enough to be an absolute pain in the ass. In order to get a new vehicle in country, you have to completely deadline the one you have, which means either destroying the engine or the frame. Everything else they'll fix or replace. I met with the maintenance chief and we devised a plan to kill my vehicle, and I swear to basement Jesus I never put more effort into anything else in my military career. You could put sand in the oil and water in the fuel tank, and those things will keep running like nothing was wrong.
