This collab with Dr. Phil was out of left field! Loved it! Edit: Just got done here and then saw the other video where I am late to the party. Fuck me, right?
A couple of people asked what it was like in the Marines. I told them that each task is like playing a Zelda game. You need to accomplish 6 tasks before you can even think about doing the task you set out to do.
I always say at first it’s a bit like pushing water uphill in a hurricane while blindfolded & getting kicked in the nards, but soon your soul is numb & it becomes normal, only had to vacuum one parking lot in a ice storm with a vacuum that shocks the living shit outta ya when it get humid
@@cooperclark8663 my bunk mate (waaaay pre battle buddy bs) had a mouth & I was stupid enough to not be able to keep from smiling, I lost the ability to smile for a long time around clean out, dump & belt replacement number 100 of that gd vacuum, I was broom only for a couple decades after that
@@patrickancona1193 I see. That would certainly hinder my ability to smile too. I'd just remove cleaning supplies entirely and switch to a fleet of roombas after that
Have to remember that each task Required you to do 2-3 other Tasks while Still doing the Other Tasks From the Other 2+ Drill instructors! Even If? You Did Something Correct?! You Could Have Done It Better! Laugh at it NOW! NOT while I was at Parris Island!
If you're not currently being yelled at, it's because you're being watched so you could be yelled at later... This is the basic structure of military training.
As an Italian, I can tell you that I did COUNTLESS pushups in first 2 weeks of Navy boot camp for talking with my hands. My Company Commander took great joy in breaking me of that little cultural habit.
When he mentioned that I realized if I joined the military I'd just have to never talk since I don't think I could stop talking with my hands. Hell sometimes I'm thinking in my head and my hands still need to move
This is just inhumane to Italians. It'd be like an Aussie getting banned from a game for swearing. It's just not even fair, and culturally insensitive.
I remember them trying to take my rifle in boot while sleeping. They warned us the day before about securing our weapons. So I knew something was up. I wrapped the sling around my leg twice and no matter how hard they tried, they couldn't get it.
I did the same, learned to wrap the sling around my leg when sleeping and kept doing that even after basic. Had a Major, ex-enlisted and a ranger to boot (battalion XO), try to get my rifle and I ended up kicking him in the face. Knocked him pretty good, and happy to say he actually found the humor and congratulated me on foiling him.
For mine I had mine in between my winter bag and my summer bag. My arm around it and my upper leg on the bottom. Never had my rifle taken once. Also I'm still proud that I always cleared my rifle and never had a discharge once out on the range.
When he asked "Ever wonder what keeps the military rolling?" at the 8:50 mark, I can't be the only person who thought he said, "E4's & blow." I quickly processed what he really said but for a split second I was amazed at the honesty.
Bureaucracy in the military comes down to a line from my favorite movie, "The only requisition that was filled was the requisition for more requisition paper."
Or US Army WTF Moments. I was in a unit that ended up on that 4 times in one year and another once. The one time was when one of our corporals submitted it.
love this guy... i retired from national gaurd as a staff sergent and i done a tour in baghdad iraq.its good to see that someone letting everyone know that the national gaurd IS MILITARY....LOVE YOU ANGRY COPS!!!!!!
"A Drill Sergeant speaking calmly................." *30* years ago this month and I can still remember like it was today. My Senior Drill Instructor SO pissed off, he sat down and quietly said, "boys. I'm so F**king mad right now, I don't know what to say......" The H3ll that came afterwards............
91B South Dakota National Guard here the LMTV door “repair” that style of repair was actually a days worth of training at AIT. They call it BDAR battle damage assessment and repair. Kudos to the soldier though, you rarely see vehicles get BDAR anymore!
My Drill Sarn’ts were mostly super awesome and professional when we were being good soldiers. When ANYONE fucked up, even if was small, it was almost an immediate 180 into Drill mode. Larger fuck ups had bigger consequences. Of course we made them angry, but when we had a rare good day, sometimes we’d only get smoked because we hadn’t been smoked since breakfast.
To any new leaders in the military, whether new officers or NCOs, remember the vehicle door at 8:02. Just remember that that same creative energy will be used to break every rule you ever implement when they are grumpy and/or bored. So keep your troops motivated but don't treat them like trash.
Little quote I came up with in the Army to help myself understand the BS is "if it makes sense it aint hapennin and if it's happenin it don't make sense"
Only time drill did a calm talk wasn't to me but wasn't a good thing.... We had just finished Graduation Rehearsal, 😕 me and 9 guys @ Jackson had no family coming, so we were tasked w/cleaning parade field, suddenly outa the crowd a Chaplin was there w/a kid and 4 or 5 empty pill 💊 bottles.... Me and other guy were taken with kid to Fort Jackson Hospital 🏥 and we had to Help Pump his Stomach! There were signs no IET or AET soldiers are allowed to shop at Hospital Shopette.... we got a sideways stare from a senior medical NCO and a Dr./Nurse, however we had Drill Sgt "Permission", medic explained the situation and they were like "Oh".... afterwards when we were back at the Company the Drills and 1SG spoke to us like people asked how kid was then made us laugh by asking did he eat anything colorful! 😆 🤣
My dad (army) would do that. And it was absolutely terrifying. We called it "the quiet". When you really fucked up and he was just like, calmly "come here..." I swear it was worse than those SS officers from Downfall when Hitler was chewing them out.
“When you watch everyone clear their weapon and hear a bang.” Had something like this happen to a soldier in my platoon at basic. She walked off of a still live range with a MAGAZINE STILL IN HER WEAPON, and her weapon STILL HAD A LIVE ROUND IN IT. My DS saw this, made a B line to her, grabbed her weapon, and pulled back the charging handle. When the live round popped out of her weapon, the amount of anger and obscenities that came out of his mouth brought the entire range to a halt and she was smoked the rest of the day. So not only did she leave a range before being properly cleared, she left the range with a loaded weapon and her weapon was also not on safe. There were so many things she could have done wrong, and she did every one of them.
I'm not I'm the military, nor do I own a gun, but even I know that **not fucking checking your weapon before leaving the firing position** is a bad idea.
We were on bivouac during basic, and I set my rifle down while I was doing something else and walked away. From out of the blue, we all heard; "Whose mother-blanking rifle is this??". I was the only one not holding my rifle. Drill came running out of the woods and threw my rifle at me so hard, it knocked me on my rear. I spent the next 40 mins doing burpees in the mud while each drill took turns telling me things I didn't know about my mother. I can still see his face as he was running at me. I have never set a rifle on the ground since.
Speaking of low crawling to snatch a rifle. During FTX that happened to me. but I jumped out of my fox hole tackled the snatcher and we wrestled around a bit and i ended up on tip with a firm grasp of my rifle and had it pressed across the neck of the snatcher and he tapped out. the nstcher turned out to be my Sgt Major.
Ran into my DS during AIT and he was wearing gauze on his face. Asked him what happened and he said, "The new cycle, Private shot me in the face from a negligent discharge." - I realized on that day that I was not destined to take his place >_
That hat, Oakley’s and how the sergeant acts is exactly how my SDS acted when I was in IPrep. Dude was chill and talked calm and surfer cool until he got angry. Oh my god that was terrifying like a chill down your spine every time.
The clearing rifle meme hits a little too close to home. I remember when I was in basic at FLW, we got back from a simulation day where we were using blanks and those laser tag harnesses, and when we got back to the battalion we were in formation when some private in second platoon's rifle went off right in front of the battalion HQ. All 4 of the other companies were outside of their barracks training either in PIT or were in formation and the entire battalion just froze and in seconds everyone was locking their bolts back on their M4s and putting them in the air and yelling "no brass, no ammo, weapon on safe!" Guy got an Article 15 and extra duty and he had a LOOOOONG private talk with the Company Commander and the Senior Drill Sgt.
Dude the low crawling shit I HAVE DONE. When I was in AIT, I come down the barracks hallway while on fireguard and one of my DS looks at me and in a quite voice goes "Get down" and points to the ground. He and I both get on the ground in a low crawl and he points into one of the rooms, and that's when I see IT....a private laying in bed ON HIS PHONE. DS tells me to go left and he goes right, we low crawl in the pitch black room up to the bed, DA at the head of the bed and me at the foot. The private has no idea we are there as the light from his phone is killing his night vision. The DS comes up from the head of the bed behind the private, moves his head right beside his and stays there for a second, looking at what's on the private's phone before he says in a soft tone, but horrifying manner, "What are you doing PRIVATE?". That's when he finally notices the DS's face less then 2 inches from his own and when I see the color drain from this private's face and to this day I swear I saw his soul leave his body. The private jumps up, scared to death, slams his head into the bunk above him and me laughing so hard I started crying. The DA smoked that kid SO badly I would have felt bad for him, if only I could have stopped laughing long enough to that is.
7:07 That's one of my favorite memories out of a training op actually not even in basic. Squad leader stole damn near everyone's weapon except mine, he reached down while I was sleeping... not on guard duty I was actually supposed to be asleep. I snapped awake and grabbed that rifle just before his hand got there.
@@Ghost-nj7nj He smiled, said "good job, go back to sleep" and walked over to the team leader to F him up for letting everyone elses rifle get taken. I waited till I heard him leave and wrapped the sling around my wrist before going back to my light sleep.
my most memorable ND was in Recruit School in Cerberus and a recruit ND into the garden when we eased springs on the steyr after safety check before cleaning
The outtakes get me every time! Sitting here at my desk, trying to be quiet so the office doesn’t know what I’m watching/listening to on my headphones, only to be ruined by the damn outtakes!!! Spitting coffee all over my drawings and monitors pretty much gave me away…. H.R. I’ll be there shortly to discuss the importance of a “clean” workspace.
Good DS story for ya about "Polished Turd". Getting ready for inspection towards the later part of basic; We couldn't find a good way to get our uniforms set up in the wall lockers without it draping over the drawers inside. I came up with a good way to organize it, but was too afraid to be singled out so I started to undo it the way the DS wanted it to be done, JUST as he walks by me. He sees what I did, and said he wish he'd seen it earlier so we would have time to adjust everyone's lockers. FFW to later, we're all sitting on the drill pad and the DS promoted me to PG for my "ingenuity that could have landed us the perfect inspection", followed by an immediate demotion 2 seconds later for "keeping a good idea to myself and not telling anyone about it". So yeah.. Standing out in basic or not keeping your head down - not always a bad thing lol.
@Todd Pruett Apparently you've never been to basic XD That's some of worst advice people ever gave me. The guys who stood out were promoted and left alone.
I too started my drinking career at 18, but my 18th birthday was at "A" school. I'm retired now after literally knocking some sense into my head.. You could say, that I got myself hammered.
Not gonna lie the excess paperwork is one of the reasons I didn't sign that reenlistment for the 4th time. Spent 3 years in Japan and we got shit DONE, came back state side and everyone and their civilian counterpart wanted a form. Want to get rid of an old broken radio? In Japan you make sure it's scrubbed easy quick check with commo boys, and 1 document for the PBO chief. State Side, Commo needs the CO and 1st SGT blessing, then their CO and 1st SGT has to bless off cause they fall under motor pool?? Then PBO chief needs you to get S-4 NCOIC to bless your form, then he wants an Original..but wait..you also need the headquarters PBO to bless off and he/she also gets an Original... Needless to say, I got out and enjoy a lovely new career as a Logistics Manager in cargo pants and a T-shirt making 5X what I did as a Supply Sergeant. Army needs to chill the F out if they want to retain good people.
First let me ask you...... did you know the reason for all these offices have to give their OKs for this radio equipment? Please answer..... if you can't, I'll just assume you are a poorly trained supply personnel and now you are Logistics Manager? The "big picture".
@@walrusvision7039 I know why he had to get all those signatures; I call it "institutional stupidity". Nobody in the military can justify more than maybe 10% of anything they do, but you can never get in trouble for asking for more paperwork.
One of the guys I go to church with had a story about stealing rifles when he was in the USMC, the worst one was he stole it from someone sleeping, stripped it, and buried the pieces in the dirt, in like 5 different places. And it took the guy 2+ hours to find all of it, clean it, and get it serviceable.
That's only true if the add isn't built into the video. If it pops up like a commercial with the option to skip it then yes. He already got the money from raid shadow legend ahead of time.
Even if you do something right, you’re wrong. 💯 I was promoted out of boot camp as the company high shooter and my senior made sure to forcefully tell me I was still a fuckup that needed a lot of improvement. It’s never enough, it never will be, and that’s how it should go
@@psyclopsus 40rds is basic rifle marksmanship. We have advanced marksmanship as well, but I absolutely agree the with you. The Army should put more emphasis on marksmanship. I could rant all day about it, but I’ll save that for another time. 🍻
That 550cord door opener is so E4 Mafia. I did that shit to my throttle linkage on my old ass AVLB out in the field when the bolt that was a jury rig repair fell out.
The reason your neighbors keep calling the inspector on you is because, they are selling drugs next to your house and don't want someone from the outside calling it in.
legit at 6:53 that happened to me in basic, my DS literally crawled up on us when it was pitch black and raining, one second its just nothing then the outline of his face had me shook, and in my state of surpressed panic I made the mistake of just uttering out the words "how's it going Drill Sergeant"
I heard last night that the Navy is going Woke even more. They are now making basic training two weeks longer. They are now included classes on basically peoples feelings.
RE: Unsecured Weapon Gollum. I was staff on a Leadership course (Canadian Army) during which one of the other instructors scaled the outside of a 20 foot tower and successfully snatched the GPMG without waking the two sleeping troops inside. I guess they were napping in shifts with the sleeper on the exit hatch so they couldn't get caught, only the second troop also fell asleep and fucked their system. Watching four troops (the two idiots and their relief) looking for a "misplaced" 26lb gun but trying to look like everything is fine was a highlight of my career.
Seeing a shadowy figure in your path at 1am during a field training exercise while on your patrol, knowing it's your company 1st sergeant is horrifying 😆
The ingenuity is something my boyfriend talks about most in regard to his time in. He said you get such good exposure in the army of everything being so fucked up (not working, lost, never available in the first place) but still being able to achieve the end goal that nothing will ever throw you in the civilian world.
Retired Senior Chief here, love these memes. In the Navy, it was always said that E-5s run the Navy and the ingenuity of the Sailors was always exceptional. Also, the staff would meet on Tuesday to talk about what the plan of the week was and then we would meet on Thursday to talk about the the week and get together on Friday to talk about the next week.....ridiculous And, 15 minutes early is on time, on time is late and late is unacceptable...words to live by
We had a Private pop off a blank at turn-in in the arms room at Ft. Knox. What came next from the drills was the most bloodshed I've ever seen and/or experienced without a visible, openly bleeding wound. It was brutal to a point of nightmares.
"Everywhere I go.....there's a Drill Sergeant there" :-D 1986, Fort Dix NJ. Some things never change! Just for the record though, I went active USAF and had to do 14 days in Basic for them. Imagine my shock when at 18:00 the TI's ALL seemed to disappear!
When I was in BCT at Benning in 04 we had a guy fall asleep during an FTX in his fighting position. One of our DS’s took his bolt carrier and kept it while he made him low crawl to find it. Clearly it was in his pocket but this made it even more amazing
I sincerely hope that AC ends up as the replacement for R.Lee Ermey. You know.. a guy that you can solidly count on to play a drill sergeant and be 100% confident that every single take will be fucking GOLD.
During the forge in BCT we were practicing battle drills and IMT's. All of us standing in a group while DS briefs us on what to do, this guy cooks off a blank IN THE CENTER of the group We did many lunges with rifles overhead that day
I watched an O-6 medical officer shoot 3 rounds, one after the other, into a clearing barrel in Baghdad because he forgot to drop the mag out of his M9 and couldn’t figure out how in the hell it kept shooting.
If you remember that scene in Kelly's Heroes where Carroll O'Connor was ranting at his staff about logistics & why his Army isn't advancing before suddenly speaking to his Aide in a calm voice, you know why you get nervous when that happens.
During our final FTX my battle buddy had a ND and I saw my life flash before my eyes. We figured might as well get ahead of it so we walked up to the first Drill we saw and confessed. "Yall lucky Privates, I was coming to fuck yall up." That was probably the best day of basic to be honest.
When I was in Ft. Hood we had a new private in our commo shop and it was his first field exercise with the unit. Having just come out of AIT, he was super worried about securing his weapon at all times; but the other guys in our shop told him that active duty was really lax and nobody was going to freak out about him leaving his weapon laying around. So he went to sleep with the rifle just laying on the ground next to his cot. Obviously, I took it and hid it and he had a complete panic attack the next morning. It was beautiful.
I had a negligent discharge at the arms room for turn in. This soup sandwich was standing directly behind me with the barrel of the rifle pointed just over my head. Low and behold some how a live round was in the chamber and this clown squeezed the trigger sending the round just over the top of my head. 😒. Drill Sgt then demonstrated that an M-16 can fly. This was in February of 2000. Alphabet took a smoking like I have never seen or heard about. I just stood there at attention just greatful the Drill Sgt's weren't smoking me. 😂. 🇺🇸💪👍
We had a dude with hands in his pockets, so big drill was like “oh hands in ur pockets pri? All of you have to keep your hands in your pockets now.” Then we got the shit smoked out of us with our hands in our pockets. First Sausage rolled up on us prone rowing with hands in our pockets like a bunch of worms and told us he was proud of the warriors we were becoming. Basic was a wild ride.
I GUARANTEE someone else has this story as well. In basic training, at around 1 in the morning, for some reason I woke up and looked over to my right and see the rim of death bobbing between the rack, not making a sound My D.I. pops his head up(apparently he could smell my fear). He just stared at me, never blinking. Reached up behind him and grabbed an unsecured weapon from the rack next to mine. He put his finger over his mouth and then crawled away, once again never making sound. Things got very interesting very shortly after that.
Every one of our 998's with add on armor had broken door latches, wheels cambered out to about a 45 degree angle, and worn out 300 mile brake pads. It only took about 5 years for the powers that be to realize that adding 5000 pounds of armor to a 5000 pound vehicle probably isn't a good idea. We had to change our brake pads more often than our butthuggers.
That scariest things in the world meme, holy shit. When I went through Marine Corp Boot Camp at Parris Island, the scariest DI I ever meet wasn't one who screamed all the time like all the others. It was one who I never saw raise his voice, holy shit he could fuck you up in the IT pit. That man was creative as fuck with his IT.
I know a lot of people are dying inside when they have to say "e-sports legend, bla bla blah is a champion! Yo can play bla bla blah!" It's so cringy. Sorry AC I don't even think you can make it sound good.
They dont. I want Giant RU-vidrs to shut stop shilling for shitty mobile games that nobody actually plays. I get that is it pays the bills it pays the bills, but there are so many better sponsors that im sure would love to work with most of them
thats exactly what i thought about when the soldier opened the door with a wire tied to the inside door handle! "if its stupid but it works, then it aint stupid!"
Problem with an MRAP and wiring issue always burning up solenoids causing the truck not to turn over with the ignition engaged. The fix, me and a screwdriver crammed in the wheel well of the TC side of the rig jumping the contacts on the solenoid like I was stealing an old Ferd.
8:56 I remember our WO was so goddamn adamant about having a QUEAM pole mount on his Humvee (which is not what thats used for), me and my buddy got his welder and welded the mount on the back bumper. Worked like a charm
Man AC, its been such an awesome ride watching your channel grow from 19k subs doing your first Sov Citizen Bingo to these glorious meme reviews. keep on keeping on!
Fun-Fact: In my basic training in the german military (back in 2011 when i was 17 as well :D) i barely got screamed at because it simply was not necessary... just do what they want you to do, exactly how they want it to be done.
Ah, the good ole days of sleeping with your rifle sling wrapped around your leg so the Drill Sergeants can't swipe it while you're sleep with out at least waking you up! Proceeded by catching the edge of your kevlar on your M16 carry handle to keep your head from lolling and giving away you fell asleep 3 hours in to lookout in full mop gear.
woke up one night at 0200 to my Drill with his hands on my weapon that was under my pillow. only reason i woke up is because i had the shoulder strap wrapped around my arms and my hands on the weapon. we stared at eachother for a few seconds and i said "hands off". he nodded and started creeping up on the next bunk. Good times.
As a mechanic Sgt, making shit work is my domain. Comes from my time as a civilian mechanic. I have a soldier that's more experienced than me working on these trucks, but when it comes to rigging shit and getting it to work, I'm your man. We had a problem with an M915 where for whatever reason, the headlight panel wouldn't come on.....unless you pulled the fuse and put it back in. So, I just drilled a hole in the dash, wired an in-line fuse to a toggle switch, and put a sign that said, "when headlights don't come on, flip switch down and back to up position." And we haven't had a 5988 with the headlights not working on it since.
I always tell civilians that HMMWV's are the most durable pieces of shit you can buy. They will break all the time for no reason whatsoever, but they are impossible to kill. I had one in Iraq that would have something break on just about every mission, not enough to warrant getting a new one, but enough to be an absolute pain in the ass. In order to get a new vehicle in country, you have to completely deadline the one you have, which means either destroying the engine or the frame. Everything else they'll fix or replace. I met with the maintenance chief and we devised a plan to kill my vehicle, and I swear to basement Jesus I never put more effort into anything else in my military career. You could put sand in the oil and water in the fuel tank, and those things will keep running like nothing was wrong.
Your not lying. I was a Turret gunner for both the Humvee and MRAP. I'll take the Humvee. Even though the Mrap had the V shaped hull. It was hard to maneuver and fuck was I nervous going over a bridge when I was in the Turret. I told the pvt that was driving. " you tip this motherfucker over and I'm kicking you in the head."
One of the scariest times for me in the military was when I woke up from a dream and had to go put hands on my rifle while deployed. I had dreamt that someone took my rifle by mistake and when I realized the error, in my dream I fuckin left the post I was at to go secure my weapon. Lol. Woke up in such a panic looool
4:06 Took a school trip to D.C in the 7th grade and was asked to help lay the wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, one of the tomb sentinels came up to tell us what to do and did so in a completely calm voice, scariest shit I've ever lived through.
i still remember the look in my drill's eyes when he grabbed my rifle when i set it down. Also, probably the longest minute when he said "let it go private" and i didn't...at first. it was a good time low-crawling in the assembly area. nice asphalt, great acoustics.
