Sleeper Factory (0:00) Doggy (3:37) Covered in Frogs (8:04) Polly (11:40) Winters Love (16:20) Animal Collective live on BBC Radio 1. This is not my music, don't sue.
Best recording of Covered in Frogs imo Also I kinda love how Doggy is a bit slowed down in this recording. I won't go so far as to say I like it better than the studio release but it has a special place in my heart. This entire recording does. Must have found this when I was like 16. I'm 32 now and I've never forgotten it.
Aly Daly I did as well. I was on a high dose of acid. My dog had been attacked and killed by another dog recently. It was unbearable for me. I thought they wrote it for me when i first heard this song. Unreal!
@@stanjohnson6371 Its not even hocketing there. Hocketing is the back and forth of melodic note changes or rhythmic hits in more than one instrument or singer. What they are doing there is Oblique harmony where one note stays the same while the other one changes
This is my all time favorite version of Winters Love that they've ever recorded with all the ooo's and aah's. I sing them even on the album version now.
I remember downloading this recording on kazaa and falling in love with sleeper factory/Doggy. So then when I got tickets to see them in Iowa and they opened with their Merriweather rendition of Doggy, I about lost my mind.
@@longbutt51 Type in Animal Collective 18/07/07 Paris, Maroquinerie. They open with Doggy and transition it into Hey Light and then into Who Could Win a Rabbit. It's very good.
Should I tell you where I wanna be? At the Sleeper Factory Where people sleep in tiny rooms They sleep upon their fronts and on their toes Should I tell you where I wanna go? To a sleepy undertow Drifting away off in the deep I wish there was a place I’d like to sleep Should I tell you what I wanna do? Find a bed and sleep with you ‘Cause two can sleep, much more than one And sleepin’ with another is so much fun And we’re gone they’ll leave us be We’re at the sleeping factory And we’ll be back in a week They’ll find us by the lake or by the creek
Covered in frogs Until there in't any water Oh we're plastic It drops my wet body And I become attentive to the day My body starts drying Hey friends I got to go I'm sorry I can't stay I wish I had more time I wish I had all day but, hey, friend Time goes fast!
I thought it said "Oh, we're nasty" / "Then I become intelligent" / "My body's not right" from other versions (all of which I like better than the actual lines). Ignorance is bliss.
Remains of a poor dog that once was crumbles through my grasp yet again….dearest friend rest gently into the never Stulychna I’m sorry we never came back. Love you. Miss you.
I accidentally listened to this once with Polly first, and it completely changed the vibe. Sleeper Factory ends with him talking about them finding them "by the lake or by the creek". Which kind of makes it sound like they're found dead, I know the rest of the song is really sweet sounding, but if the whole thing is about them dying together... well. Then there's the heartbreaking Doggy. It's just a real buzzkill.
Nirvana, whaa. This shit's elite. Amazes me how many different genres they're capable of championing. We know they grew up on Pavement...dreaming of an AnCo indie rock record. No keyboards. Shit'd be whack.
After being an obsessive fan for a few years in the late 00s, then having a long cooling off period (thanks to the execrable Painting With) and kind of getting back into them a bit thru Reset, I can safely say that this is the best thing they ever did, along with Strawberry Jam and the live shows they did as a 3-piece garage band comprised of Deakin, Panda and Avey, playing Feels songs and best captured in the 'Live at the old market' recordings on youtube. U can argue with me but I'm just telling the facts.
