I would love to know the thought process that goes behind how these guys wrote some of this incredible music on these albums...like the way this stuff is composed is just mind bendingly beautiful
I appreciate you keeping the mixes relevant to the early incarnation versions of the songs from the '05 / '06 tours but when I finally heard them play Derek live it was absolute bliss at the 9:30 Club.
Have they really never performed Winter Wonderland live? That's a shame, one of my favorites off of the album and an extremely underrated one in their catalog
What I Do is the early version of Bros. The sample is from Red Roses and a Sky of Blue (top of my head may be slightly off about the title) by The Tornadoes
Though they use the same sample I wouldn’t say that What I Do is an early version of Bros, as the first recording of Bros predates What I Do by over a year, being from September of 2004 (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RHrefc-VvcE.html)
i personally think this is and isn't related to Bros in some way. Like the poster of this video stated that this song doesn't predate Bros as a song, however this song was played way before the actual song came out and Bros went through some changes before it became the version that we know and love . And so i think this song was him trying a different approach to the song and maybe trying to make it an Anco song but i think he ultimately decided to go back to the original version of the song. Or it could just be a jam using the same sample as Bros.
Interesting, I thought he was saying "more mellow" because the electronic chirping noise sounded like it was getting louder and louder before that point, and then toned down after that. As if it were a suggested live adjustment in real-time.
