I think Animals as Leaders are way too focused on the rhythm element, most of their melodies don’t stick with me now in the same way those first 3 records do. Literally zero melodic hook for half this song which okay fine, but it is more boring because of it

Okay this was interesting to read in relation to the title of this song - To quote Merriam-webster, "According to Greek mythology, when the peasant Gordius became king of Gordium in Phrygia, he dedicated his wagon to Jupiter and fastened its yoke to a beam with a very complex knot. Centuries later, when Alexander the Great arrived on the scene, he was told that he couldn't conquer and rule Asia unless he proved himself worthy by untying the knot. Alexander quickly solved his problem - and gained a new kingdom - by slicing the knot in half with his sword. Since then, "Gordian knot" has become a term for a difficult problem, and the phrase "cut the Gordian knot" has become a popular way to describe a neat solution for an apparently insurmountable difficulty." Damn!

this is the epitome of metal almost being non-metal, AAL is one of the few bands that still sound fresh in this genre, jaw lost somewhere

I am the biggest AAL fanboy but the last 3 songs they released from their latest album haven't given me that 'wow' factor yet . I want to hear something super experimental like the 'Brain Dance ' or the Self titled album .

@@thetheoristtranscriptions pity, since I discovered AAL (weightless period) - every time they drop new material I’m blown away, the latest being no exception

@@thetheoristtranscriptions, I don’t know what you are expecting, but Monomyth and this song blew me the heck away. The Problem of Other Minds, the weakest single in my opinion, is still a track that other bands would be proud to have written.

It took me awhile to truly hear what this album offers. I have deep into this album for 2 months. Parrhesia is a masterpiece and one of my favourite records of all time. Supported the band by buying an AAL Parrhesia jumper and I think streaming AAL, mostly this album, probably 1,000 times. Lmao, my Tidal account shows almost played AAL 900 times last month. Lmao, I am utterly obsessed. I love Tosin and Javier, but there is something about Matt's jazz fusion background on the drums on this record that brings AAL to new heights. Saw them live in Melbourne, Australia last month. Incredible!!!!

Going to be honest. While I like parts of this song, I don't know if I'm vibing with it completely. It might just take time for it to grow on me. I really like the other two though that have been released.

A Gordion Knot is a metaphor for an intractable problem. A Gordion Naught is an intractable beat that you can't get out of your head.
