I legit gasped when I saw your name! I really admire the content you make and how open you are with your process. Thank you for the kind words, genuinely ^^
@@akiani that's true for sure but i assure you that her progress is still impressive. I've also been animating for two years and i have an artistic background but i dont think i reached her level yet
I've always wondered what abstract(ish) forms would look like animated, you answered that question masterfully! Thank you for another one of these absolutely stunning videos. I am (once again) inspired to oblivion by you and your art!
@@lemoncholy No thank YOU for this beauty of a video xD but for real you are probably one of the best things I've seen come out of the art-world of youtube! And if you must know, you have the privilege to be the first person I've felt the need to comment on (I've done it twice now, what's happening to me??) Anyways, uhhh, have a nice day!
May I ask how you make your drawings look like they're dancing and alive? Not just on this one, but when I look at your other artworks (especially your character design of song of achilles, that's my favourite) I feel like everything is moving even if it's just an illustration.
This is a great question but also one that's difficult to answer. Here are a few notes: - I find that doing 1-3 min gesture drawings help me loosen up, in addition to studying models in motion (usually from video/photo references but sometimes in real life). If I don't feel like life drawing, sometimes I'll break down / trace drawings from artists I admire for practice, to help me observe all the decisions they're making. - Focusing on silhouette and contour (as opposed to volume). Contour drawing is a little unpredictable, but it's this approach that helps me create more interesting drawings. It can also help you focus on design, rather than getting bogged down with all the complexities of human anatomy. - Understanding the mechanics of contrapposto - Drawing a line of action through my characters helps me focus the movement in their poses. (@Mofe Dawodu I think this may be what you're referring to?) - Focusing on line quality (thick vs. thin, straight vs. curved, concave vs. convex) - You might also want to try listening to emotionally intense music or acting out your poses out before you draw them - anything to get you in the mood.
@@lemoncholy omg thank you for answering, I was actually tracing one of your drawing just now, trying to figure out how you do your lines haha. I'm just gonna screenshot your reply so I can look back into it in case I forget. I hope you make a tutorial about this one day though, everybody would love that (I would!). Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge.
@@hilalfauzi7634 there are three versions I think, Pro allows you to make ultra short animation (literally 1 second?) and EX version doesn't have any limitations when it comes to animation
I honestly was completely oblivious to the fact that Clip Studio Paint had an animation suite in it until I stumbled across your video while looking into how to use CSP better as a newcomer to digital art and my god, you've opened my eyes to some wonderful future projects I can work on now! Also I have to say seeing some of your other content your style is simply beautiful and to me bridges the borders between classical art and modern in a very wholesome and aesthetic way.
I literally could watch your videos for hours. It’s all so well made and the way you’re thinking through every little detail just blows my mind. How is it possible to learn so much from a 9min video?
holy moly, I'm absolutely blown away from your animation! AMAZINGGGG! I can't begin to describe my first impressions of this channel. Just so... INCREDIBLE! Very nice job
Iv been trying animation my self and this video made me realize that I'm starting to look at it more technically, this will definitely changed how I do animations
your videos are always SO well edited and visually beautiful. This was such a joy to see, I always love watching how artists bring the process of their creations and this was so well done! Thank you for making them available for everyone, im a big fan of your art and videos
I really needed this. A while back, I had a creative assignment and I decided to make a gif. I feel more comfortable doing digital paintings and finish them more quickly, so naturally I painted. I fucked up the humans but the rhino I drew looked cool
Oh, I’m so glad this was recommended to me!! As a student who’s studied Film Studies and who has _just_ finished my (undergrad) thesis on Chinese animation and the history of Chinese animation, the more painterly style of art you showed really reminded me of Chinese ink-wash animation! The aesthetics of such minimalistic art is really cool. Very reminiscent of the philosophy behind ink-wash paintings: to capture the feeling of something, rather than the real look of something. For anyone curious about animation history and stuff, the examples of ink-wash animation I can think of are: Little Tadpoles Look for Mama: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GbuUjbVuqQw.html The Herd Boy’s Flute: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-t3mX0fVkFpM.html Feelings from Mountain and Water: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SKyy89cqhaE.html Ink-wash didn’t become a dominant style of animation within China for various reasons, despite their biggest advocate, Te Wei, really pushing for it initially as a uniquely Chinese animation style, but it’s also been cool seeing it kind of return with new animations such as _Fog Hill of Five Elements:_ ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SBPiekqafY4.html Sorry to suddenly barge in here and dump all this ahaha. I just got really excited by the connections that can be drawn with animation! But it’s just also really cool watching your process and exploration of a new animation style. The end result looks stunning!
No worries at all, this is wonderful! I took guo hua lessons when I visited China a few years back and that style has since influenced my art. As an animation student, the philosophy behind it resonated with me (which as you say, emphasized a stronger focus on impression than accurate representation). I'm unfamiliar with animation in China, so thank you for sharing resources!
That’s fun how you explain onion layers, hitting every last detail for a general audience. You really pulled all the stops in this video! No stone left unturned! Congratulations on making content videos while at school Was this actually your first experience with CSP? That’s crazy
Aaa, glad you think so! I'm actually taking a leave of absence from college this year, but trying to find a balance between personal stuff and work has still been rough. I let myself get acquainted with the software for a week (made those sketches you see in the brush section). Gotta say, once you get over the learning curve of one software, picking up new software gets easier every time.
I feel like it's Christmas every time you upload, I love how much insight you always give about your process, I've learned so so much! Thank you so much for doing such high quality content
This is so detailed and thorough, how you always explain the thought process and technical aspects is very insightful. Love to see your work and the process
this so soo epic omg, not only are you great at animating, but you’re great at presenting it! even though it’s just a process video, i feel like it grabbed me by the heart if that makes sense??? Can’t wait to see more :P
This is gorgeous in every way! Not only your chosen style of illustration and animation but the choice of styling the video clip sections and your narration, music selection, honestly 10/10!
More videos like this please!!!!, you are so talented and i am so glad i found your videos. I can’t go to an art school so i would really appreciate it of you kept posting animation and drawing tips videos 😊
Im always so enamored with the way you edit your videos and the fresh quality of info i get among a sea of sameness. Your work ethic and art inspires me so much, and i always look forward to your videos 😍😍
Im just sitting here gasping and saying WTF every 2 minutes because Im so flabbergasted by this professionalism and how asthetic the video itself is. AFGHAGAJDHGAJGSJ
i've used clip studio paint for 4 years and had no idea the animation tools were this good! especially the ability to use multiple layers to paint each cell! this has got me all inspired, your video is very clear and well explained and the finished animation is stunning :)
When you talked about the three dimensional quality produced by the concave and convex detail something clicked for me. I thought, OHHH so there ARE things that can be figured out with this art stuff. Its not all “feel”. Dang, you got my sub.
Love this, the quality of your videos are chef's kiss. You really have a way of simplifying and breaking down your processes in a understandable fashion
Oh wow! I learnt more from this video than i ever did in class. They tell you to read the book and experiment with walk cycles. But even after reading it and trying to make the walk unique i never knew what i was missing or lacking. Thank you! This helped me understand the movements, line of action, contracts n timing more than i could in the book. Also I love the style of your animation.

I usually dont watch step by step processes of animation beacause though it interests me they dont rlly get to the point but this video was so informative and interesting, love it!!
Yoooo ! I've been in the animation industry for nearly 20 years, now (studies included), and been working on TVpaint for 13 years, now, and I still learned some new stuff from your video ! That was a very impressive breakdown (and I love the way you structured-layouted it, with all the list besides your animation) ! Fantastic work, young lady ! That's an instant sub from me. Now I got to learn Clip Studio !
I find it fascinating that not one person out of 5,200+ people (at the time that I watched it) has given your video a dislike. Of course their will be a dislike eventually for any random of reasons but regardless of that you have made an amazing video packed with a lot of useful information. Great job!
That's the most inspiring, educational, and entertaining video about animation out there. Everything is smooth here, from the soothing sound of your voice to the classy animation cycle. There's nothing to say, except, Thank YOU!
i absolutely love your voice and how well-made your video is. a lot of animating videos i came across werent... super interesting to me but this really managed to catch my attention and made me want to animate. thank you so much!
i’m always waiting for your next work, although I’m not really good at drawing I enjoy painting with watercolours sometimes. What I do like to do a lot is write, and you cannot imagine how much your art inspires me building my writing style, to think in depth about how to describe things... I admire you so much, hope you’re well!
it's really cool to hear that you find these videos useful even when you primarily write! thank you for your kind words, and I hope you're well as well :)
