That Masaaki Yuasa set is so nice. I don't normally go for boxsets like that since he'll make more films in the future but I only own one of these films at the moment so it'd be a great purchase to finally get the films in the collection. I own Dive myself. It's definitely a mid tier show that seemed to want to capitalize on the craze of Free and Haikyuu. I wasn't a huge fan of it but I've watched enough platform diving in my time that I think I would definitely rewatch it also. Land of the Lustrous is an all time favourite of mine. Not read the manga and I've been dying to see a second season, the show was really well recieved at the time. But it's been soooo long now I feel that ship might've sailed. Big O is one of those shows I have never made time for despite being aware of it and actually owning it for along time. I've heard nothing but amazing things and I suspect this year will be the year I finally watch it. The artstyle looks incredible, sorta similar to the Batman Animated Series of the 90s. Reminds me abit of Deco-punk. Moribito is a great show, I saw it along time ago but I loved it. The art throughout is great and the lead character is really cool. RahXephon is yet another all time favourite of mine. I also own it multiple times so your not alone. I have the artbox and the Japanese Blu Ray as well as the Sentai Steelbook. This show was my Evangelion, while I've come to appreciate Eva more in recent times my first exposure to this sort of mecha show was the heavily inspired by Eva 'RahXphon' and it's a show I have so much nostaligia for. Like you I also have the artbooks for this series, Akihiro Yamada's paintings are just incredible. Oh Oh! I love Patema Inverted and Time of Eve and had ZERO idea that he made Sing a Bit of Harmony...that'll definitely be going into the to get list. You really have picked up an insane amount of amazing shows, Haibane Renmei is yet another one. Glad you liked it. It's yet another favourite lol. ABe should've got more oppurtunities to adapt some more of his creations to Anime. He has way too few credits as a Character Designer for his talent. Great Haul Video :D
SO many great thoughts here, thank you Blaize 🥹 I’m always holding out for a Lustrous S2, even if I agree with you there. My memories with DIVE!! are so lucid and funny, and I’m interested in how that rewatch will go. And that might make two of us for The Big O-2024 will be THE year. Glad I could get someone to verify that Moribito purchase for me! As for RahXephon, I’m fond of it for the exact reason that it evokes so much of what I love about Eva but also does its own creative things with how relate to others sonically. It seems that every edition comes with gorgeous art, so the temptation to double-dip is real. Times like this make those art books handy, especially for RahXephon!
