Here is the final breakdown of their views according to the average of all of their scores: 1) OP S4.pt2 (10) Rumbling 2) ED S4.pt2 (9.86) Akuma no Ko 3) OP S3.pt1(8.74) 4) OP S1.pt2 (8.66) 5) OP S2 (8.04) 6) ED S1.pt1 (7.96) 7) OP S1.pt1 (7.9) 8) OP S4.pt1 (7.78) 9) OP S3.pt2 (7.36) 10) ED S1.pt2 (7.16) 11) ED S4.pt1 (6.8) 12) ED S2 (6.7) 13) ED S3.pt1(6.66) 14) ED S3.pt2 (6.16) I used Brig's absolute values, not his rankings in the ED's. There is a clear bias towards the Openings (OP) [8.35 average ranking across the board] rather than Endings (ED) [7.32 average across the board]. To break that down further by averages....Carter liked the ED's the most (8.28 ave) and Brig the least (6.32); Carter and Jack tied for liking the OP's the most (8.57 ave), and Cannon liked the OP's the least (7.82). The most generous giver of points (by average) to the least generous is in this order: Carter (8.425), Jack (8.02), Cannon (7.965), Mckay (7.645), and last, Brig (7.4).
@@CarterAndrus Thanks! Glad to help. By the way, the numbers seem to indicate the battle for anime has not only been decided, but embraced by you and Cannon even more - if it is possible - than its original defenders Mckay and Brig. :) Anways, thanks for your thoughtful interaction with a story that wrestles with some of the deeper questions of human life; y'all have kept it real. Also, I cannot agree more with others that Akuma No Ko - even if only considered through lyrics - is equal with The Rumbling.
The opening really grows on me the more I listen to it. For me, It blasted the transitioning experience from Season 3 ending to a whole new level season 4 . Seeing Eren getting fked up mentally and the last big jigsaw piece at final episode of season 3, I was thinking "Things are about to go crazy on the other side of the sea" with opening. And yep the song is weird, but it gives the precise message and feels for Season 4.
i was so shocked when i found out that shinsei kamattechan made that opening. ALL the vocals including the high pitched chorus is by a single male singer. the same group also made roro chands suicide show which is one of my favourite songs.
@@sutayabe Im rewatching aot rn and Im actually listening to the openings now because I regretted skipping over them the first time so much, and I realized how much I missed out on, im currently on season 4 and everytime the opening starts I put my volume to the max, it just goes so hard
@@trinh1223 SPOILERS; It would be better if they got more moments in the show instead of songs. I know that this is a tragedy, but even in this case I am not satisfied, and these moments that will be in the final are not enough. Also, the fact that she and Jean have a family disgusts me. I understand that Eren wanted her to have a happy life, lala lala. But when I think that Eren died when she was 19 and she was in bed with Jean until old age, I want to throw myself out the window. I didn't ship her and Eren for this almost from the very beginning of the manga. Thank you at least that they didn't show her family life with Jean and the whole focus was always on Eremika and the scarf, even in the extra pages. But the very thought of it infuriates me.
But so far in the anime he showed no feelings for her. There was more chemistry with him and historia in almost every scene they were alone together. It's a beautiful song but i don't see it as romantic.
@@nightwishisthegreatestband6355 Well there are actually a lot of moments where you can see that Eren loves Mikasa. The first one being when he wrapped the scarf around her. If you watch the scene again, you can see that he was blushing. Then when him and Mikasa were about to die in 2x12, Eren was about to give up until Mikasa told him her true feelings and gave him the will to fight again. Mikasa gave him a reason to continue living. His entire view on their relationship changed in that moment. He promised to wrap the scarf around her FOREVER. He even punched Dina's titan as a desperate attempt to save Mikasa. Mikasa was also in the first memory he saw when he got his head blown off. She's clearly the most important person to him, more than anyone else. The reason why he never expressed these feelings is because he didn't understand why Mikasa liked him. It's why he asked her "What am I to you?" and asked Zeke about her feelings as well. Then in paths, he rewatched the memory of him wrapping the scarf around Mikasa and looked sad, cause it was one of his most cherished moments. Isayama had this planned from the beginning.
I’m so happy you guys recognize Akuma no Ko for how good it is. Everything about it but especially the lyrics and meaning hit home so hard. In case you guys didn’t already know, the title translates to “A Child of Evil”
@@mantra7552 One of the best parts of AOT in my opinion is that they are no 'good guys', they say it themselves in the show so many times. Everyone is the good guy to themselves and the bad guy to the world. Eren is committing an unspeakably evil act- global genocide -to protect his side from the evil the other side would commit. Everyone commits evil in the name of good and thats one of the main messages of the show.
I'll just say it but no one will believe me, and yes ive read the manga. Historia has Eren's child, the whole song is a pov of Mikasa Eren and Historia all mixed. Wait till Fall till the truth is revealed lol
Under the Tree not being counted as an OP or ED is a travesty. The lyrics are totally Mikasa begging Eren to stop and how sad she is with what he's doing. I practically cry when the "WHY OH WHY" part starts. It's heartbreaking. You guys have to do an amendment to the rankings to add it.
I had to lower my rating for every op and ed just for under the tree to be an 11/10. I also cried. As a manga reader, the foreshadowing in one of the lines is f*cking INSANE, it has made me cry multiple times. Such a perfect ending to a perfect piece of art.
"This world is cruel but i still love you" 😭😭😭 the best ending song all visually, lyrically and musically it's on TOP! I'm so happy carter knew it was eren's response to the first ed. It makes me soo emotional too. And yes the rumbling is the best op! I didn't see any lyrics on for the rumbling here but i recommend reading the lyrics for that too! I was waiting for this video and it finally came thank you guys for the journey!
Man, Akuma no Ko will never fail to make me emotional. Also, Name of Love were all training regiment moments because S3 second half pretty much makes it clear how the kids are enemies now. So it's like a throwback to the happy times.
I love how every time there is a mention of Erwin either Jack or Carter always say something or do something to kinda comfort Canon ever since Erwin’s death it’s amazing to see just how close you guys are Erwin was truly one of the greatest characters in the show and I love how you guys still remember him
The fact that there is forshadowing of the future even when the manga wasnt out for that part is absolutely mindblowing. This goes to show truly a genius Isayama really is
One comment I read thst I have no idea if true or not is the first panel and final panel of the manga were drawn at the same time. So the author knew where he wanted to go it was just a matter of getting there. Like I said though it's literally just something I saw in a comment so could be fake as hell but if true is cool as shit
As a manga reader, I remember watching the endings and watching as the fandom dissected and analyzed everything to figure out what would probably happen later in the manga. The fandom was going crazy over the visuals and lyrics and all the secret meanings. Rewatching them now after having finished everything, it’s crazy who much they foreshadowed since the beginning. I also remember listening to Akuma no ko for the first time as it first aired and how much I teared up over it. Truly one of the best endings
Akuma no ko is a beautiful song that it's so fitting for the beautiful side of the world in AOT despite all the cruelty we all have seen, just like what Mikasa said "The world is cruel and merciless, but it is also very beautiful".
"This world is cruel but I still love you" calls back to when Mikasa says "This world is cruel... and beautiful" in season 1 when she ran out of gas and was about to be eaten by a titan. So poetic and sad 😢
The reason why I like this particular scene so much is because when she says "beautiful," it showed him wrapping the scarf around her, and with Akuma no Ko it was like he was saying I love you back to her. Was not expecting a heartbreaking love story from this series but they sure did deliver.
I need to say that genuinely I’m so impressed that they enjoy the songs enough to listen to or think about in daily life considering they started off as anime haters! It just makes me really appreciate how far they’ve come and shows how much they truly love the series! Same thing with familiarizing themselves with the studios and voice actors.. 👏🏻👏🏻 Btw I enjoyed this reaction so much on Patreon I’ve watched it several times now! Lol.
I loved the ED for season 2. The song is meant to make you feel uncomfortable, and with the images it tells the entire history of the eldians without giving you the context since by then we didn't know anything about eldians yet.
i love all the intros but season 1 holds a special place in my heart😭 that was the first piece of anime i ever watched back in middle school- crazy to think i would still be watching it 7 years later
I love how much y'all appreciate Akuma no ko. The Rumbling is obviously a banger, but that ending is so emotional it gets me everytime. I hope y'all will react to Under The Tree soon. It's so good!
Whoever sees this if you wouldn’t mind liking this comment so it gets farther up so more people see it, I just have a question about Under the Tree!! If we reacted to Under the Tree will it spoil the end of the show for us???
Under the tree tells the tale through Mikasa's eyes, it doesn't spoil anything new. The visuals are also scenes from the episode so, No spoilers.(Just don't go to the comments section of the video) Also love your reactions. Just a suggestion. If you like complicated dark themed stories, you must check *Monster* (by Naoki Urasawa, considered one of the greatest mangaka). It wouldn't attract much audience and views in youtube, but you can watch it on your own. It's beyond good.
I don’t think so, the opening doesn’t have an official video to it yet, they use imagery from the 3rd part. Its just Mikasa’s perspective, her feelings on what is going on.
Red Swan and The Rumbling are number 1 opening. The English cover of Red Swan by GoldenBoys is incredible. The endings are awesome. Yuugure no tori is beautiful if you listen to the cover by Dok Sergio (the lyrics are english), Name of Love by Cinema Staff is incredible (it plays during the Owl Mikasa and Armin line as well) and the English cover by Mew makes it even better, Shock is incredible and the English cover by GoldenBoys is awesome. Akuma no Ko is gorgeous. The endings and the in anime songs are incredible, but I always thought the openings were weak (except Red Swan and The Rumbling).
Might be a hot take but S2's first ending is actually my top 3 favs, not just cuz of the insane foreshadow, but the horror visualization it was going for suits the series' theme really well, and the song radiates tragic historical events flashing before our eyes, like war. But the song still chooses to have a cheerful, nostalgic vibe to it. It slaps.
The planning that went into this story is incredible. Eren looking like a slave in the second ending of season 1 is such a dope feature. Just goes to show how great this story is.
Why didn’t y’all rank Under the Tree it’s so gooooood! Also the disrespect to My War the part where the soldiers are marching and the drop hits gives me chills and gets me hyped every time.
The best part about the Season 2 Ending? It came out in 2017 and the manga was far from Season 4 Arc at the time, so no one knows WTF they were looking at and Isayama directed it.
“悪魔の子 (Akuma no Ko),” also known as “Child of Evil' is a song by ヒグチアイ (Ai Higuchi) that is being used as the ending song for 進撃の巨人 (Attack on Titan) Final season part 2. Through Higuchi’s deep yet penetrating voice, the song is written from the perspective of Eren Yeager which are reflected throughout the MV as well as the lyrics. It depicts Eren’s personal growth, inner battle, and the philosophy behind his actions and perfectly echos the first ED of AoT “美しき残酷な世界 (Utsukushiki Zankokuna Sekai)” where it was sung from the perspective of Mikasa Ackerman. Also, on Ai Higuchi's same album, there is a song called まっさらな大地 (Massarana Daichi / "Brand New Land") with lyrics about Mikasa's feelings for Eren. ** Lyrics ** "Hey As long as you smile by my side That’s enough for me So please, lower your arm For just how long Have you been protecting? It’s only now I’ve noticed I’m sorry I can’t apologize Children cry For their parents Just how far will we go before we make it? Is this the freedom you spoke of? When my scars ache and my friends’ faces come to mind Then I wonder if I’ll be able to say That the flowers blooming in a brand-new land are beautiful Hey If the words you once chose were wrong Then I wonder If the future would change I’m the only one who understands you With nothing more than that thought I could live strong I’m sorry, I want to forgive you But with things like this I know I’ll end up alone Just how far will we go before we’re connected? Your heart is so far in the distance Just how far will we go before we make it? Is this the freedom you spoke of? When my scars ache and my friends’ faces come to mind Then I wonder if I have the right to say That the flowers blooming in a brand-new land are beautiful I won’t be able to smile Until that brand-new land overflows with life once more Source: www.lyrical-nonsense.com/global/lyrics/higuchi-ai/massara-na-daichi/english/ Music: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DX-wZ8bco7E.html"
Season 2 ending is probably one of my favorite endings. Its so creepy and the visuals are beautiful. The thing is it doesnt have a full verion at least not one ive been able to find.
Nahh 'cause standing up to salute during the intro of Jiyuu no Tsubasa is a MOOD. I'm not sure if I can call it my favorite, but it's definitely underrated and has a very special place in my heart. It's THE anthem of Scouts, not everyone else. THE. SCOUTS. That whole song (yes, all five minutes) is literally the essence of wearing the Wings of Freedom on your back and _brb I'm about to cry-_
I like the season 4 part 1 ending during the very first episode where Marley defeats the other Nation. That's when you see our very first Scout in the final season. I know someone yelled out "hey that looks like and Ackerman" lol. That scout reading the newspaper and walking away is a harbinger of death and destruction to the then celebrating Marleyans - as to say - celebrate now but you'll see soon what's coming to you.
its funny how so many people seem to dislike my war because it was the only opening i liked from the get go, except for the first one it goes so hard and i love the explosive / war theme. im somewhat of an anime hater myself and the other openings can feel a bit juvenile imo (sasageyo lol)
@@CarterAndrus back when it first came out i was a bit taken aback by the screaming parts. i also remember thinking that the pacing was a little slow? not sure why because now i think its fantastic. still prefer my war but objectively the rumbling is probably a better opening
i've been looking for the "my war" love in the comments. I adore "rumbling", its my 2nd fave, but "my war" SLAPPED. I loved it from the very first note I heard lmao. I still have it on my shower/cruise playlist.
I’m so glad you guys, especially Carter, like Akuma no Ko this much! It’s my favorite song as well because it’s so beautifully sung and the lyrics hit hard. And of course, you all gave The Rumbling a 10. I mean, it’s probably the hardest anime opening of all time.
Season 4 part 2 I don’t know what they smoked in the studio but they just popped off😂😂 and akuma no ko I literally STILL listen to every day months later
S4 op & ed really nailed it for me. May I recommend the Hiroyuki Sawano / Project【emU】 “Attack on Titan” suite? Noticed you guys loved the score multiple times and I think listening to it alone would be such an experience!
I love that Carter liked Red Swan so much, i think that might be my favorite opening its definitely underrated, made me cry when i rewatched it after seeing season 4. Also been here since episode 1, love seeing your guys reactions😊
In this particular scene, 14:39 it is not the Great Titan War; it is the Fall of Lago, an event that happened approximately 1,200 years ago. Lago was a large Marleyan coastal city that was destroyed by the Eldian Empire in a single day. After what happened to Lago, the Eldian Empire also attacked the cities of Monte and Valle. These events are known in AOT lore as the Devastation of Monte and the Ravaging of Valle. Hundreds and thousands of Marleyans were killed. In the anime, Zeke's grandparents discussed this event. The title of the episode is Sole Salvation.
I LOVE HOW THE ENDING OF THAT EPISODE TIES IN TO THE END CREDIT IT WAS A MASTERPIECE I REMEMBER JUST HAVING THAT ENDING CUT AND REWATCHING IT OVER AND OVER
@@CarterAndrus interesting fact in case you forget there is another one bro. Even this one better considering this one is painful lol Yeah im talking about 4x11 ending when Kaya explaining to Falco and Gabi about how she survived the Ragako Village incident, the beginning of sasha's legacy arc 😭 The first time i watch that scene i almost tear up ngl
I really like Linked Horizon songs for this series. If you try read and listen to the lyrics of songs in order of season, the songs basically explained the feelings the characters had in those seasons. Truly one of the best experience of the series for me.
Akumo no ko is a masterpiece. The singing, the visuals, the vibrance, the foreshadowing, I feel like it's in everyone's playlist, rumbling is also in my playlist for the gym
Manga SPOILER: 11:45 That’s actually a very good observation! “It’s interesting how it’s all about mikasa”. If you have read the manga, you would know 😉
I actually cried when i saw the last ED for the first time. it means a lot and explain so much what Eren is really thinking about whole his life. Its simple, but also deep and omg it just means a lot. Its really interesting how this 2 minutes got me so well, and it is only for the people who continued watching this show from the beginning, could got this emotional feeling. i cant explain but so good.
Although it was your least favorite OP, I actually really like OP S3.pt2. To me its cool that if you listen closely it contains parts that refer to the past few OPs. Also I feel like My War is the OP that you actually need to be watching/listening to as you follow the show in order to appreciate haha. I think many of us started out finding it weird but later noticed how it perfectly matches the show.
I'm honestly shocked that most people don't like S3 PT2 OP, because that's my favorite one by a mile. It's true it's flooding with spoilers, but when I watched the Shiganshina arc I was so freaking HYPED with everything that was happening, and every time I listen to that song, somehow those feelings come crashing down at me all at once. Those shots with Levi unsheathing his swords, Reiner and Bertholt's fist bump, Eren smashing Reiner's face, MAN, those visuals give me chills every time... I love that arc SO much! Also, because I'm usually so clueless when watching, those spoilers didn't actually impact me, because I don't think I caught on anything at the time lol.
Yes! I love the song and the visuals. And the spoilers are out of context so I thought it was fun to finally be able to point them out every time I started a new episode and realize what they've included in the op.
Akuma no Ko is genuinely one of my favorite endings ever, if not my favorite. The emotions that song brings with its lyrics is unreal. I teared up the first time I saw it. I can't wait to see what the final theme will be for the last episode!
My War is my favorite op, it's different from other op songs, it gives that "back to reality, war has started/no hope for peace" vibe. and Requiem der Morgenröte is my favorite ending, especially in S3 part 1 in that final creepy scene with Levi, Mikasa and Eren, damn, that scared the shit out of me 😂
Popular: the rumbling Fan fav: shinzou Sasageyo The best: red swan Masterpiece: my war Iconic: guren no Miya Underated: jiyuu no tsubasa No one really care: s3 p2(it's a good one tho)
I love how no matter where we’re from in the world, we can all come together for having listened to the same hype song in the gym :) thank you for all the quality videos. Gonna miss starting my day with your AOT reactions ❤️
I am Japanese. Season 4 part 2 is both OP and ED. They look good. Especially, the OP is very popular in the music scene right now, Loud rock, and the tie-up with a band that is very popular in Japan made it more exciting!
The rumbling is so good. But you guys gotta listen to Under the Tree!! The band said that The Rumbling was Eren's song and Under the Tree is Mikasa's response to it and to the rumbling in general
"Why is Christa there?" Because the Royal Family is technically not on the side of the people of the Walls, remember? They hid the truth. Also, Great Escape will always be a bop. And the lyrics, "If we say that I am not me, then how can you be sure that you are you?" And now we know that Eren is literally an amalgamation of all the other Attack Titans. And then the camera panning from one side of the wall (Sasha, Jean, Connie and E.M.A trio) and then to the other side (Ymir, Historia, and Annie, Bert and Reiner) is an absolute masterpiece. One side who is honest, and one who are hiding something.
Rumbling, Rumbling, it's coming! Rumbling, Rumbling! Beware! Coming for you! All I ever wanted to do was do right things I never wanted to be the king, I swear All I ever wanted to do was save your life I never wanted to grab a knife, I swear
Am I the only one who ranked Opening 2 as my number 1 song? Jiyuu no Tsubasa "Wings of Freedom". The military anthem intro to sudden guitar riff, the eargasmic chorus, the hype. All of it is 10/10.
I think it'd be a great idea for you guys to do a video rewatching and commenting on your top AOT moments, like Reiner/Bertholt's reveal, Levi vs Kenny, Erwin's speech/march, Levi vs Beast Titan, Declaration of war, Eren starting the rumbling... I mean, I rewatch those moments at least once a week and I love them SO much lol.
Can y’all please react to my type-moon all openings playlist it’s the strongest franchise in anime with their base abilities giving them immeasurable speed. & my power scaling subscriptions r all the proof we need, my other subs prove it also has the best written characters in anime.(which I made playlists for) Like generic anime channel’s shirou vid, it’s billion$ budget & ufotable even come together to give us peak animation of any year they drop or period.
15:52 SAME. S3 1st ed always makes me feel some kinda way, like I lost someone in the Battle of Trost now they're one of the reasons I'm living for (ehem, marco, ehem)
