"please don't go anywhere, I have thoughts." That might be the best transition from this episode to a discussion I have seen.

Heavy and emotional episode. This show is amazing and was by far the darkest thing I've seen in a long time.

Please don't apologise for getting a little teary eyed on camera, I understand not being completely comfortable with showing that to a bunch of strangers online, but as someone who loves reaction videos it's that kind of honest reaction that I'm looking for. I don't blame you if you're not willing to show that to people you don't know, but you won't be judged for it if you do. I can promise you most people who watch reactions do so because they're heavily emotionally invested in the shows they love and they're looking for other people to share that with. I loved how you kept flip-flopping on shou tucker, they definitely portray him as sympathetic but you just know something doesn't feel right. This hit even harder in the original 2003 run of the anime as we spent multiple episodes with both Shou and Nina, it seemed like they were shaping up to be recurring side characters and then *this* happens.

Thank you so much for that! My Syat Wars reactions have gotten a few tears out of me too and I was cautious about posting them. So I appreciate the kind words. Now if I would have grown to know these characters over several episodes and THEN this happened...oh it would have been full waterworks!

When I first watched this I was 14 same age as Ed, then I joined the military (I'm out now), and I currently have a 13 year old daughter, so when I say this story hits it hits hard. Boss grahn is the first person you see this episode, Bradley's full name is first name King last name Bradley his moniker is Furrer, interesting tidbit when anyone dies in the manga series the author draws them going to heaven normally, shall Tucker is the only one who is seen engulfed in flames.

Thanks for being here for this ride Michael! I should have listened to the community when they said it gets heavy. I've got a son with a little girl on the way and it's hard to see such a thing and not think about that. While my anime experience is limited I think this has a deeper story than most that I've seen

Congratulations! You've gotten through one of the most traumatic episodes in all of anime! I just had the realization the other day that my own experience of Nina's story is now old enough to drink. I first read Nina's story in the manga in 2003 and to this day I still break down crying every single time. Unfortunately, one of my favorite scenes from this chapter of the manga never made it into any of the anime or live action adaptations. After Al stops Ed from beating Shou Tucker to death, Tucker continues to try to defend his actions, and Al responds, "Mr. Tucker, if you say one more word, this time I'll be the one to snap." This is part of why Al is one of my favorite characters. Most of the time the Al we see is very kind and gentle, and many people misinterpret this as weakness or cowardice. But Al is incredibly strong and an amazing fighter. He is just as capable of violence as anyone in the military. But that makes his kindness and gentleness all the more meaningful. He chooses to be kind and gentle. And it makes his anger more meaningful as well. It emphasizes how abhorrent Shou Tucker's actions are, that Al, who always seeks a non-violent solution, would be so enraged that he might kill another person.

Thank you for being here through this. This episode was TOUGH to be my normal chipper self. When the community told me tough stuff was coming I totally didn't expect it to be to that degree. I had to go take a walk after watching just to get my head right. I also love Al! I find myself trying to figure out which brother is my favorite and I think it always leans more to Al. I identify more with the gently giant personality.

If people *don't* get teary over the horror of Nina's fate, idk how to relate to them, honestly. This episode haunts me, all these years later

I’m glad to see you’re enjoying the show! This is by far my favorite anime of all time. Also the führer is a title, his name is King Bradley. So Führer King Bradley is his full name.

I will be watching your journey from here on out. Fullmetal Alchemist is a franchise that has shaped my life. It is one of the most influential series on me personally that I have ever experienced. All I have to say, is that the feelings you are feeling now, the emotional gut punches this episode delivered to you, are not the most potent this show is going to give you. There is more coming.

Thank you and I'm happy to have you with me on this ride. I never would have expected this in only episode 4. I've told others that it hit me so hard that I had to go for a walk I'm the sunshine after.

@@PourReactions you are in for a real treat in the remainder of this series. You will come to understand the attitudes of some of the other military Alchemists, and while they may seem cold in some ways, they are preparing Edward and Alphonse for what they will have to become to do this kind of work.
