@Kofi Arkaah Every decent villain is a hero by their own perspective. The best villains are ones that can almost convince you that despite their methods they are doing the correct choice. Ainz, imho, falls squarely into this category.

The "isekai world" for Overlord happens when Momonga (skeleton king) is staying online for the last moments of Yggdrasil, the worlds biggest MMORPG. When the clock hits midnight he finds himself to still be in the game, only it's not a game, he's become his avatar, and all the NPCs his guild mates left him are actual living beings now. His goal is to scour the world to find anyone else who may have been sucked into the new world, and he thinks "Hmm, I might as well conquer this new world"

Overlord is definately one of the modern cult classics. Didn't get mainstream appeal but the people it did catch are FANATICAL (That's me). It's an amazing story in the book format, and it's all an accident from author getting publishing deal after doing the prototype for this story in a web novel format. I'd actually put Maruyama's books on the pedestal of best fantasy works.

Exactly ! Overlord is the only Light Novel I've bought, and because the publication is slower in my country, a lot of fans here are craving for the next books (the 10th just got published in France)

Man do i agree with this statement, something about the world really pulls you in. Im not a big anime fan, by all means i would never buy a manga willingly, but the time i got my hands in one book of overlord, i bought them all immediately and read them like 5 times each

to specifiy, skeleton dude is the main character. the story is basically how he is rising to become the Big Bad. mostly because he is stuck there and he roleplayed an evil character while in the game. as such the npc's of his guilds homebase worship him and he is afraid that if he's NOT evil they would turn on him. also him actually becoming his avatar, which is an undead lich, means that THAT is also influencing him making him less and less human. it really is an interesting show

@@AnubisReactsTo just prepare for the following: Bad CGI in later seasons (they did my mans DIRTY) and a Highly intertwined Plot, that often only HINTS at connections. This is because the anime tries to push about 2 Volumes of light novel BOOKS into every season. So lots of the surrounding, explaining exposition is either left out, or only communicated by very quick and almost unnoticable lines/visual story elements. Thankfully, Overlord has a DEDICATED fanbase that almost inevitably will end up posting ALL surrounding information in the comment section (They are also very good about not spoiling things you are not supposed to know yet) So it will be good to read through it after every reaction you do.

@@deusvermiculus1072 Tbh I thought the cgi worked in favor of the anime. In some anime it makes watching it unbearable but for Overlord I actually kinda liked how it made them pop out.

@@Good_Hot_Chocolate the CGI worked in its favor until the second part of the third season. And i really can't blame them. They had a short interval between season 2 to 3. As well as having "war" scenes that consist of many soldiers to be implemented.

basically this dude, his servants and his guild base got transferred from a game to an actual alternate real world with a vague magic system similar to the game he came from. He and all his minions are basically LVL 60-100s and the strongest people in this world where he transferred are typically LVL 1-5s while the strongest recorded people are probably LVL 30-40s. The secret beings are estimated to be 60-70s.

Overlord is a very interesting anime. Momonga/Ains is the skeleton who is slowly taking over a new world he got sucked into while he was playing his favorite MMO and the NPC's he and his guild mates made all came to life and worship him as a living god. The first season focuses on him a lot and the season 2 starts focusing on the world's reaction to his presence and what he and the NPC's are doing to the world and season 3 is Ains and his servants now making bold moves to establish themselves in the world. It has a very, very large supporting cast, most of them are very well developed and could potentially be characters in their own anime. This show is also very dark and is not afraid to kill people. Permanently.

5:29 he is the main character. He was playing the game and was transported into another world and he basically became his character, all npc became alive. The world is not the world of the game he was playing.

Everyone always calls him a villain but what defines a villain someone who doesn’t risk there lives for humans and doesn’t really care for us because humans are pretty trash he’s a protagonist who protects those who are close to him like every protagonist he doesn’t have to like humans and he only kills when he haves too and has a reason too

Not really I see good as the protagonist I’m a very neutral person all I see is a guy fighting his enemies to save and help his allies what he does in the the show is perfectly justified he had no malicious intent and instead of killing some monster it’s humans I don’t think of humans always being good the kingdom is way more corrupt but his allies for example demiurge is evil I swear but I’m getting off topic ainz is good
