One thing though that pisses me off, no one gave her permission to use those pictures, I guarantee if anyone used a picture she didn't want used on twitter, it'd been reported and pulled. I am a female gamer, and I'm strong enough to be able to speak loud and proud for myself. I dont need Anita Sarkeesian to speak for me. I watch male and female youtubers for entertainment. I dont need Anita Sarkeesian to tell me what I can and cannot enjoy playing. Do I play games with scantily clad women characters? YES. Do I give 2 shits what they're wearing? NOPE. I care about the gameplay, I care about the GAME. Do I need a special controller layout for my delicate female hands because I'm too stupid to be able to push 8 or 12 buttons? Guess Anita would make for a piss poor PC gamer. Have I received rape and death threats? Nope. Because I dont have a podium to speak from. I'm too busy GAMING to need that podium. I'm a female gamer, who went to a feminist all womens college, who went to a feminist all womens high school. By all rights I should be this rancid anti male feminist. But rather than hate... I embrace love and tolerance. Rather than blaming a gender for my problems, I improve myself and take some self fucking responsibility.

Kind of an interesting point you make, actually: Because now that I think about it? Anita Sarkeesian, and virtually _all_ of her supporters, are almost without exception completely dependent on scripts and teleprompters. Anita herself, Jim Sterling, MovieBob, even the script-reader extraordinaire Yahtzee has expressed sympathy for her viewpoints. That might not seem like a big deal at face value, but in a deeper sense, it's an outlier of intellectual insincerity.

I love how Anita completely ignores the female youtubers and gamers that have also criticized her points and whatnot. I realized the day I cried giving a speech about how important gaming is to me I needed to change the social climate. I created a RU-vid channel which is devoted to looking at video games through a psychological and sociological lense. What Anita does isn't research. It disturbs me greatly when she draws these conclusions in her videos without doing any research on the people who play the games. How can she evaluate the way women are portrayed in games affects how men treat women in the real world? She makes glittering generalities with out proper research to prove it. I may be small now, but I intend to take my channel to great lengths. Eventually, I will obtain my masters and dedicate my efforts to researching video game cultures. It's my goal people like Anita get the proper grilling they deserve as fact after fact gets thrown in her face. They may sound arrogant, but I would love it to be research I do that puts people like her in her place. I end this rant with a thank you. Videos like this drive home to me the importance of the work I'm doing. I have hope what I am doing will help end this "gamers are evil" stereotype.

I'm a female gamer and I don't understand half the things Anita is complaining about most of the time...i only recently heard about her a few months ago through Mr. Repzion and I don't agree with anything she says. She is not preaching real/true feminism. The actual definition is equality for both men and women...all she ever does is hate on men and thinks the backlash against her is unreasonable!? Really????

I got your back Alpha! I'm glad you are speaking about this issue, I was kinda worried that none of the big gaming channels seemed to be talking about this because Anita is a huge problem right now. It's Jack Thompson 2.0, the only difference is, during the Jack-era, the industry shot-back accordingly but with Anita, you have people inside of this industry who are stupidly siding with her and her anti-men, anti-gamer outlook, its absolute insanity. People within the industry should be able to spot her blatant lies from a mile away but they don't and that's a fucking problem.

I used to support Anita myself but then I actually watched one of her videos and absolutely hated her afterwards. I am a woman and after her video I watched for the very first time I became an Anti Feminist I was always annoyed with Feminist but never gave myself a title till I realized I really was lol. A lot of her arguments were the dumbest thing I ever heard I am a Hardcore Gamer not a streamer or youtuber tho so I am pretty much a no body but every where I go I always post shit against her. But what she claims in games that I have played many times over and over I have seen that she has lied about most of the games to fit her and her so called followers. I also never deal with sexist crap when playing or whenever I do Martial arts I am treated the same among my brothers. I had one guy that was a friend hated the fact I was a better gamer and tried to prove it. But when he went to prove it he failed miserably but I found it funny and we laughed it off. He never said another word ether after seeing me game with him. I am by far not the best but I can hold my own just fine and as well as anyone else. And I don't mind the title Female Gamer but little does she know then men get a title to and it is Male Gamer but they haven't bitched about that.

Arnita frustrates me because of this kind of stuff that she's doing. I'm a girl gamer, and I can't fully agree with her arguments, especially since she herself has not played most (if not all) of the games that she's critiquing. I'm also an English major, and the one thing that was most important when it came to criticism was ALLOWING other critics to put in their two cents and critique you as well. Because she doesn't allow this, it makes her look kinda sexist, all while trying to prove the opposite. I myself have a blog where I talk about games, but I would not feel comfortable explaining something in a game if I haven't played it for myself. I try to look at everything, as much as I can, and try to give an unbiased analysis as best as I possibly can (even though I'm still just starting out). So when it comes to an issue as serious as women's rights in games, I'd have to play a SHIT TON of games from many different genres and many different decades. If I just jump the gun (kinda Ike what Arnita's doing), I would steadily lose all credibility of myself as a gamer and as a critic. However, while she definitely doesn't speak for me as a gamer or a girl, I wouldn't go so far as to say she's scamming. She's a narratologist, and is looking at these games through a feminist's eyes only, which limits herself in her criticisms and doesn't allow her to look at the more positive aspects of gaming. When I move from blogs to video, I'll be sure to bring that up in the future. Yes, she is picking on male gamers (which I don't like), but to call her a scammer... I don't know; I feel like you may be pushing a bit too far on that (though I do believe that your anger is highly justified). Thanks for your video, man. Och...I am wondering whats up lately with me getting more and more annoyed with Annita Sarkeesian. First of all as female who plays video games I am constantly annoyed about her videos that attacks/criticizes and so on games that has nothing to do with gender. At least she would have decency to actually play those games fully and than would pick games that truly could be showed as better examples. For example she chooses Hitman yet ignores such game as 7 sins (ehemm...don't ask me how I know about it :D) so one is as neutral as it can get and other one is literary depicting women as items that can be achieved. Yet she chooses the neutral one. Why? Because she doesn't play games and she doesn't do any research. So not only she talks about what she doesnt know at all but also doesnt have enough mental capacity to understand that true critics doesnt pick just stuff that agrees with them. They collect all eveidence, goes through it and only than decides whether their intial idea was right or not and if it wasn't than they move on and showcase the final results (even if they contradict their initial idea). And talking about criticizing (or more about how she denies any criticue). I am sure that if someone who has under 100 subs (like me) will say something to her she will say that mehhh that person is just one person not worth listening to, if someone who has over 100k subs will say something to her she will say ohhh nooo...I am being bullied... So what the hell is a perfect ratio of subs that person needs to have so that when he/she would talk Annita would listen? If a man gamer speaks out - he is a man so obviously any type of opinion that doesn't match hers is just trying to oppress her, if a women speaks out - ohh no...she is just too far under mans thumb. So who the hell can criticize her? I am so annoyed with this. I am so tired of her and other "feminist" like her talking about issues that are not existent. For example lets be honest for one minute. If I am a female and I have enough time, resources and so on to play video games on daily basis (to the point where I actually care about story lines and all characters) chances are I live in a country where my rights are protected. Which means I am more than capable of choosing the games that I like and ignoring the ones I don't. If I play online I am more than capable of telling some ass hole to back off if I truly do feel like he is crossing the line, and if he doesn't well there is that magic button that lets you mute people or disconnect (though honestly I didn't had to do that once through like 10 years of me playing video games). I am so freaking tired of her sharing her opinion (and yes what she says is opinion not a fact) by saying it's a fact. And she is definitely not a spokes person for females. In real life (not her fantasy life) representatives are elected, so the titles are given not self appointed. On internet every individual speaks for himself unless people do actually vote or asks to speak for them. If she truly wants to do something good maybe she should use her platform to talk about real issues - like women being stoned to death in some countries, or girls being killed before reaching teen years. And yet instead she chooses to talk about female NPcs in video games being used in a wrong manner. Hrr....sorry... I am just kinda raging all over the place today about this, but I really wanted to share my opinion (and sorry about my English it's not my native language). And as individual female player (because I am not Annita and I don't claim to represent all females) I want to say thank you for speaking up for me and I hope that you wont stop. The more people will talk about it the less influence she will have and less people will be poisoned by her one sided opinion. Because all that she says is just her own opinion nothing more.

Say what you like about video games but if anything they are actually sexist towards men. In no game are women the actual mission targets, it is never an objective to torture women as it has been constantly in games like GTA or saints row, it is never an objective to kill mass amount of women like it is in any war style game, it is not common practice to humiliate female protagonists like in the monkey island series with Guybrush as well as just about every comedy style game, Everything that is done to women in video games is also done to men, but half the shit that men go through will never be applied to women.

i'm going to level here. i'm a feminist and an equal opportunist. I believe people should have the same chances on things regardless of sex or race. I think things should go to the most qualified person for the job. I think people should do what they love, assuming they have the skill and the merit to benefit the field. I think your work, personality and skill should speak louder than your physical appearance or sex. that being said, all I've seen from anita is that she's a closeminded individual who attacks and oppresses those who think differently from her like some kind of dictator, using everything in her power to get the job done, including propaganda and scare tactics to name a couple. i'm not going to attack her for anything, but I think she's being very unfair about all of this and that she should feel ashamed for her actions. if you're going to do anything, practice what you preach. otherwise, don't be surprised when people call you a hypocrite for doing the opposite or regurgitating the same stock phrase without having a true understanding of what it means.

A friend of mine recently told me about Anita and her channel. In order to really know what she's all about I decided to watch a few videos. They were some of the hardest videos to get through, personally, because of the way she portrays developers and their games. Then the male privilege video happened. Then I wanted to post a comment on the video. Well that certainly didn't happen. Obviously. But it really made me feel like she didn't want to hear my opinion-which is funny because you'd think that she wants to empower women and their opinions. Weird.
