What is Treetops Hospice at Home care?
A team of qualified nurses and experienced health care assistants offer nursing and emotional support for patients in their own homes. Overnight stays offer carers the chance to have a good night’s sleep. A few hours during the day gives carers a break to go shopping or have time for themselves.
Our team are all trained and experienced in caring for people who have palliative care needs. All our care is delivered in accordance with the District Nursing care plan. We work closely with the patient’s Primary Health Care team.
Hospice at Home is available 365 days per year. A nurse visit will last between 3 and 9 hours depending on your needs. Most of our care is at night, from 10pm to 7am, giving carers the much needed rest to support their loved ones during the day.
Our nurses offer both nursing and emotional support to patients and their families. We give families the opportunity to be as involved as they wish in caring for their loved one, whilst recognising and promoting both privacy and dignity at this very difficult time.
Roaming Nurse Service
Our Roaming Service team - including a Treetops registered nurse and healthcare assistant - respond to calls for assistance each night from Treetops nurses, and to patients referred to the Hospice at Home service, living across Derby city and Southern Derbyshire.
All services are provided free of charge, and are not means-tested.

About Treetops Hospice
Treetops Hospice, the leading end-of-life care charity in Derby, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, provides nursing care and emotional support for adults with life-limiting conditions, and their families, and those who've been bereaved.
The charity provides support from diagnosis onwards for patients with conditions such as cancer, motor neurone disease and heart and respiratory conditions.

Last year, a team of Treetops Hospice at Home nurses provided over 20,000 hours of care to terminally-ill patients, working day and night to give much-needed support.
Treetops team of bereavement counsellors provided over 4,500 counselling sessions - more than 900 of them to children and young people. Wellbeing team members provide valuable information and support to those who need it.

A counselling session for a bereaved child costs £34.50. An overnight Hospice at Home nursing shift for a patient at the end of life costs £108.
