Cut-Rate Commander - Episode 43 - Featuring Anje, Maid of Dishonor
Taking a break from the open bar at Oliva's wedding, Anje is looking to blow off some steam by helming our latest build - aiming to make the most out of the blood her and her brood spill to help us and hurt our opponents.
As such, we'll of course be running plenty of vampires to enable Anji's blood production, as well as give us even more with their effects, alongside a good number of ways to use that blood for value. But we'll also be running plenty of payoffs that don't care that the blood is... well, blood - but instead cares that it is an artifact, enabling us to weaponize it even further against our opponents by turning into damage as it enters play, leaves play, or even sits around on the battlefield. But its not just offense that our blood supplies are good for, as we can tap into it ourselves for a quick infusion of card advantage, ramp, and other forms of value - ensuring that the blood we collect quenches the thirst of Anje and her vampiric brethren while our opponents drown in it.

Definitely my go to RU-vid channel for budget decks. I built the Fynn deck he made and it's absolutely amazing. It's always everyone verses me when I play the Fynn deck

Neon Dynasty has so many options for Commander builds. But one in particular that I got my eye on is Kyodai, Soul of Kamigawa. I can see some wonderful interactions take place giving another creature indestructible while being inside WUBRG colors. Other than that, good boy Yoshimaru is probably another popular contender for getting a deck tech.

Kyodai can certainly make for an interesting 5 color build focusing on making some really scary threats very hard to deal with , while Yoshimaru can certainly a great build around for a Legendary Tribal build (we just need to see who he partner up for the best color combo). As much as I like Greasefang, I feel it would fly too closely to the buckle up deck, so I propose Satsuki, the Living Lore. Maybe a deck utilizing effects like Wheel of Sun and Moon to make sure that the sagas are never gone for long.

Amazing video! Your builds are always amazing. I’ll definitely mix my vampire tribal deck with this Anje strategy. For Kamigawa commanders, I suggest Ao, the Dawn Sky. There are interesting ways to combo his death trigger in standard, where all permanents in the deck are low cmc and there’s always a way to bring him back from the graveyard. I think it would be cool to make a mono-white deck that incentivizes your commander not being around for long lol

Glad to hear you enjoyed the build! Ao would certainly be an interesting one to build around - Makes me think of a low to the ground reanimator deck that lets us bring him back again and again and keep cheating more and more creatures into play as we keep reanimating him. Could be fun!

I can only assume this deck is weaker than other similar strategies (AoE lifedrain, like Dina) but god I love the theme!! :3 Innistrad Prelease was my first ever Magic event. and I got to do a blood tokeny deck. Reminds me of the cool old vampire movies, back in the days when they didn't sparkle. :B

Actually really looking forward to your Chishiro upgrades unleashed precon upgrade! I've seen cool lists that go all aura, go all counters or blend both. Eager to see what you go with. I love gruul lol. And my vote for NEO commander after that is definitely Satoru Umezawa. Please give me budget ninjutsu shenanigans, would love to step my toes into dimir. Honorable mentions to Isshin and the adorable Light Paws.

I used this list as a base for my own variation of the deck. I added my own spice to it and almost built Anje around her sac ability but I like the blood too much

Indomitable creativity could work on this deck. Replacing blood tokens with other artifacts and/or creatures and triggering disciple of the vault for burn.

I ran Indomitable creativity in testing and more often than not it kind of fell flat - just getting me a bunch of small stuff that, while useful, didn't really "do" anything for the game-plan. Ultimately it got the axe due to that, and I still feel it would be better off in a polymorph style deck were there are only a handful of creatures/artifacts that are all huge that we can cheat into play with it (and other effects like it). Still, its by no means a bad card - it just didn't work our for me is all.

@@GrazzetMTG yeah, kinda got that impression too when testing my build. Indomitable Creativity would work if you ditch the vampire tribal part and just add a bunch of big creatures like Herald of anguish for the artifact tribal part.

I think after the precon upgrade I will vote for light paws even though it's a very simple commander.

The commanders Id like to see most from NEO are: Hinata Crowned Dawn, Satoru Umezawa, Go Shintai of Lifes Origin, and Goro Goro Disciple of Ryusei

Good suggestion - it can certainly load itself up with counters quick to get rid of a decent sized threat while taking a decent chunk out of out opponents life totals as it does so!

The reality chip would a interesting builds considering it would be a mono blue value build, while Satoru Umezawa would make for good a ninjistu tribal build - either of which would be every fun to build around! Thanks for the suggestions!

Well, would you look at that, it's the Anje we have at home. Luckily, Grazzet has given her the touch, making her more test-worthy than ever before. Good job as always! My vote goes to the Go-Shintai Shrine Commander, cause you can unironically tell your opponents "pick a god and pray" before you get more pluses than a catholic church. Day 198 of waiting for the Grazzet MTG face reveal. Trans Rights?

Glad for the glad you enjoyed the build and thanks for the suggestion - though with the price that Go-Shintai of Life's Origin is currently going for, that build may need to wait until it comes down in price or we do another higher priced build. And to answer your question - of course I support them.
