For electricians, having a handy temporary power source is really useful. This enables them to recharge power tools, brew a cuppa, or keep a customer's WiFi up and running. In our review, we evaluate the Anker Solix F2000 against a conventional petrol generator. The crucial question remains: can a battery deliver sufficient power for a full day on the job?

I have both a portable battery bank and a small petrol generator. It's horses for courses: if I need two hours of power I use the battery bank, if I need power for a day I use the petrol generator.

You definitely did miss something; the fuel tank! Try a funnel and a spill kit next time 😂

A good use of a battery backup is as an additional customer service. I did a switchboard replacement (consumer unit replacement for you), but the customer works from home. The customer was thrilled they could keep their internet router up and they could continue working on their laptop while I could be left alone :)

I have an smaller Anker 555 unit bought from their refurb shop on eBay. Don't think its actually a refurb but a customer return who sent it back under distance selling as the app says it only had one charge cycle. They have this large unit for £1190, although the F1200 seems better value at £659.

I’ve found myself buying more and more Anker products, they’re becoming my default and for what it’s worth the solar panels for those power packs really are great and work very very well..

Used both, petrol generator had be outside and have chain it up stop it running away. Yes can get a petrol gene for £400 that price they're either old or noisy and drink lots fuel even on light load, also have keep stopping staring it when needed. not forgetting can charge the power pack with upto 1000w of PV, now daylight is longer it's self sustainable all day, PV panels are now below £100 for 425w. No need for extension leads and multiplugs.

They each have there pros and cons so really it depends on needs and conditions of the job

It’s an interesting concept and appears to function well. Bit on the pricy side though

There are a number of theories on electricity but it's not a miracle. You should be using a honda eu10/20 series as they provide sine wave electrical signal.

£1.7k for the battery, how much to buy the generator? £400? Cost to recharge versus price to refill the generator with petrol? Ah yes, a paid promotion.
@efixx
@efixx Месяц назад
Honda EU10 generator sells for £1000 - and runs on petrol which costs 96p per kilowatt hour versus grid electricity price to recharge the battery. Battery costs £1400 - the price difference is recovered after a thousand kilowatts of use.
@SmokyFrosty

Not to mention silent/indoor running, electricity can be clean/renewable, and very low cost at certain times depending on grid production.

@@efixx I'd argue that it would be closer to 500kwh at the current price of £1500 if you are on a cheap overnight tariff. Also, I'm willing to bet that happy customers would gladly let you recharge after the power is back on, doubt any customers will be nipping to the petrol station to buy you a gallon of petrol.

@@efixxOk Genius, how do I recharge it in the middle of nowhere without access to AC on a cloudy day? Had this problem in work recently. Think I'll stick with the diesel generator thanks

Yes you did wast your money on all that Mikita junk. A complete waste of money. But that power bank is a fairly good bit of kit but overpriced. At over a £1000 Six or seven hundred pound maybe be worth it. Great video though Rick as always 👍

@@efixxnot really ... Can get a small Genny for a couple of hundred quid. Versus almost 2 grand....Are you really going to be using a tenners worth of petrol every day? .The video didn't show how much fuel used for the same cook up that reduced the battery to 44%.. ,. .Payback time for normal usage would be several years ... Now IF it was available in the hire shop and they were better able to pay for the "payback" time..only then would it take preference, although are they going to be renting it out at 4 times the cost of the generator??
@efixx
@efixx 23 дня назад
Quite a few battery options are starting to gain traction in Hire Centres as alternatives to generators. We've seen shipping container sized packaged solar as alternatives to bigger generators on site.
