I am 3 weeks in and love watching your videos cause my doctor did not really explain anything about 97% of what was going to happen. So thanks so much for your ankle videos.😎💕

Love your sharing….getting wrapped remove this Monday after 2 weeks. I’m 64 my first broken bones ankle surgery similar to yours with one exception I have a rod in my heel. I suspect it will be a pain to walk on. Well I hope you got your shoulder, hip, and elbow address by now. I just wanted to thank you for sharing and providing insights on what’s to come. You took it all like a champion.

Hey thanks for posting these. I’m right at 4 weeks with my Brostrom. I DIED at the bit about the dead skin rubbing off. Relatable 💀 Right now my biggest pain areas are my achilles and calf. Glad to see you doing the glute exercises too. Reassured me I’m on the right track and a bit ahead of PT 😆

I will be 4 weeks recovery this Friday. It is a long process and is very frustrating at times. Thanks for doing these videos, it makes me realize that my bad days are normal. I have 3 months where I cannot put any weight on the foot. 😢. But I am happy with my decision since I will stop falling all the time and can get back to running. Heal fast! ❤

I am 7 weeks out from Brostom, gastoc lengthening, tibial tendon repair/transfer, calcaneal osteotomy (he cut my heel bone off and moved it 8mm to the right to re-align my ankle with my leg) and cunieform osteotomy (top of my foot, removed wedge piece of bone and replaced it w/ cadaver bone, to give me an arch on the bottom of my foot.) all of these procedures because of multiple ankle sprains my whole life. The inside of my left ankle was caving inward. Do not repeatedly sprain your ankle or you'll be in the shape I was in. I am in a walking air boot with crutches, weight bearing as tolerated for 5 weeks. hope to ditch crutches in a few weeks and walk normally with the boot. Then in February I'll start PT. It is a long process. Thanks for your videos! They are very helpful, especially the exercises!

I know this is old but I am 5 days post surgery -same one but also including posterior tibial tendon repair. This video series is saving me bc this sucks and I’ve gone through all the wondering if I’ve made the right decision. I am in the miserable stage right now but it helps to know it gets better. So thanks.

A year since I watched these when I had my lateral brostrom done and here I am 2 days in from medial/ deltoid repair. Did you have both done at the same time? I think yes. Knucklehead move on my part for not going with the surgeon who proposed this 1 year ago.

I am 6 weeks post op tomorrow. I'm wearing the boot 24/7. I can't start ROM_PT til after 8 weeks, for a total of 16-20 weeks. 😮. I'm still having pain, across top of my foot around to heel and at site of repair. During the day? Tolerable. Evening and overnight? Some nights I can't sleep and it feels likecweek one. I have another ortho appt this week and will discuss my pain with them again. Thanks for the video and your perspective.

4 wks out today- thanks for the insight, I have not gotten much info from the surgeon (haven’t even seen him) I’m a rn and I think they think I know it all. This is surgery #9 (overall body…knees, shoulder, wrist, ankle). So I get the surgery but dam what did u do about sleep? I cannot even wear the hard plastic brace at night cuz it hits the surgical site and malleolus bones bilaterally. Any tips on sleep?

I'm a month post-surgery today for ankle stabilization surgery. Your videos have been really helpful, even though I am making progress much slower than you did. Today I got my cast off and the boot on and am just starting slooooowly moving my ankle. How long did it take you for the pain to decrease on the "gas pedal" motion? Mine is very stiff right now and does not want to move. Any tips as I move into month two?
@denalimarie939
@denalimarie939 3 года назад
I'm still working on that motion to be honest. I would say that movement didn't stop "hurting" until I a couple days of walking. the range and improvement that just walking normal makes is incredible. so keep pushing through the pain but nothing that would make you want to cry or anything that painful. When you are able to walk the dorsiflexion will come back easy but you will have to keep working on the plantarflexion (toe pointing)- also for this I like to assist my foot by simply applying some top down pressure with my hands. hope this helps! good luck with your recovery!

Girl. You have CRPS II now. You and I are the same. I'm so sorry! You need to talk to a neurosurgeon because you have been injured by the surgeries. I would love to connect with you and tell you a story of what's happening to you. The total reconstruction of my shoulder labrum ruined me and now total ankle foot reconstruction on both feet starting May 10th. All my careers are over due to a work accident and I tore everything in my bilateral feet, spine, shoulders, hips, neck, and arms... To the point, the stress took my vision and pancreas out from the stress. You have got to stay strong and no doctor you had worked with will ever admit you developed CRPS II ! Find me. 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

@@jinju8650 Nope. He made me walk barefoot. It was hurting so much on the heel part but it would heal by time. I am now 17 weeks and 1 day in and my flexibility on my feet has improved. It doesn't hurt anymore unless it is really used. (I play basketball) but everuthing feels great. Still recovering because my doctor said I needed to rest for 6 months before I can go play competitive basketball again. For now i'm just doing foot rehab.

Hi! Did u feel like ur ankle was like shakyyy like it moved involuntarily side to side a bit ( not too much) whenever u touched ur foot. Especially on the surgical side of the leg. Is it normalll?? 😭😭😭 like idkkkk does it mean my ankle is unstable but then i did surgery already its been 4 weeks post op 😭 pls replyy

I understand your fear, it happens to mee too. It seems like it's just normal movement of muscles and the foot but it doesn't mean your ankle is unstable. In any case talk about it with your surgeon, i may be wrong

100% it’s a nerve sensation and it may take a long time to go away. It’s most likely nothing to be concerned about. Long lasting nerve sensations is normal from my experiences and what doctors have told me. Hope this helps.
