One of the truly great and beautiful sopranos of the film. So sorry her voice was not used more! I feel she would have been better than Kathryn Grayson in Showboat

While Kathryn Grayson had an incredibly beautiful singing voice, I always think that Ann's singing voice is more beautiful than Kathryn's.

Ann Blyth doveva essere la partner di Mario Lanza per il film the student prince come lo era stata nel famoso Grande Caruso, grande successo di botteghino in America ed Europa. L'abbandono da parte del famoso tenore con il quale già aveva inciso la colonna sonora fece sì che la parte di Lanza venisse sostenuta da tale Edmond Purdom (famoso solo per aver sposato Linda Cristian, ex di Tyron Power) il quale finse solo di cantare perché la voce rimase quella ineguagliabile di Lanza!

È triste che il meraviglioso signor Lanza non sia mai apparso in questo film! Nel corso degli anni il signor L ha avuto problemi di peso. Penso che sia quello che l'ha ucciso. Solo voci, ma al momento si diceva che lo studio avesse problemi con il suo aspetto sullo schermo. Solo Dio ora lo sa ... Grasso o magro, adoravo la sua voce e personalità! Molto bello sentirti! Grazie ancora!

Hi catlec39 , I don't know how I could have missed your comment! I'm very sorry for this late response! Actually, Ann sang all her own parts in "The Student Prince!" The substitution was the use of the voice of Mario Lanza's voice for Edmond Purdom! The only time I know where Ann didn't sing was when she was in "The Helen Morgan Story." There, only God knows why, she was dubbed by Gogi Grant! Ann dropped Hollywood shortly thereafter. Thanks, and grateful to hear from you!

Wasn‘t she dubbed in „The Great Caruso“ as well for a rendition of „The Loveliest Night Of the Year?“ Hopefully I‘m mistaken, but I seem to remember reading something like this… I hope it’s not true!!! Unfortunately I don‘t have the chance to listen to the movie in its original language, and in the German version that I know she has definitely been dubbed - by a German-singing soprano whose name - sad for her - isn‘t even mentioned…

I love her voice.. grew up listening. She sang some beautiful roles. What a pity to take her beautiful voice away and dub in another singer... I am speakine about The Student Prince. I guess it gets complicated with movie contracts, recording contracts, etc.

Catherine Leckie That was Ann's beautiful voice you heard in the Student Prince. It's Mario Lanza's voice voice that was dubbed for Edmund Purdom.

Ann is still alive at 93.A marveleus soprano .I.prefer her over Kathryn Grayson and Fernando Lamas was a marveleus baritone

Si, cantaba, y como! Desde la juventud en Nueva York, ella estudiaba como cantar y hasta hoy tiene una voz bien linda! Fernando comenzó cantando en su país natal, Argentina. Ellos cantan aun mas bella en "Indian Love Call." Nada mas que escriba los nombres y Indian Love Call, OK? Mil gracias por escribir! Por favor, perdoname mi pessimo Espanol!
