I met the girl who was meant for me when I was a small boy in Japan. I was swept into a canal during a monsoon and I would have drowned but a young Japanese girl dragged me out by my collar. She sat me on a wall above the water and waited with me until the rain stopped. She was selling pencils for her school and my mother had given me pocket money so I bought all her pencils. She took me home and I thanked her and all I remember was her beautiful face and wet, black hair. She waited by the gate while I went inside. I never knew her name or where she lived. This happened so long ago and so much has happened to me but now at the end of my days I remember her and think of her and I wonder what her life was like. I do not pray and I am not a believer but I pray she had a good life and found happiness and the light of Buddhas face shone upon her. I also hope she remembers me and finds pleasure in the good deed she did so long ago.
JoachimderZweite, I recognize the lyrics! It's Rob Dylan, right? A singer/songwriter from New Zeeland! I think he was talented but unfortunately, he never hit the big time:-(
I am privileged to say that I saw Anna perform this song live at Bush Hall, London, 22/05/12. She sounds even better live than she does recorded. A fantastic performer. Long may she continue.
I used to shake and feel very emotive when I would hear this song some years ago. Now I don't feel anything special about it,. I am so happy that my heart has healed and I am no longer an energetic match to it. Thank you Anna for being with me in my hardest of times.
Ever since I was eight or nine. I've been standing on the shoreline Always waiting for something lasting Loose your hunger you loose your way get confused and you fade away Oh this town kills you when you're young Oh this town kills you when you're young. I'm not the boy I used to be This town s' got the youth of me All eyes turn hollow From the work of sorrow hmmmm hmmmm hmmmm hmmmm Standing on the paving By the office building They've got so much to do Never time for you We are shadows we're shadows shadows in the alley You die when you're young You die when you're young You die when you're young la la la lala la la lala la la la la [original by Broder Daniel]
Best thing is you can tell it's an old video. Notice how the crowd are actually standing and listening whereas if this was today everybody would be using their phones to record!!!!
Yeah, I think the bad habit of everyone filming almost constantly has ruined a lot. They only think of filming to put it on social media instead of enjoying the present. Almost as annoying as when half the people at a party are looking at their damn phones.
Excellent artistic choice - it gives me a feeling of being isolated even when people are all around, and the grainy B&W film makes it feel timeless. Thanks for posting! I didn't know about this artist before but am a fan of Annika Norlin (Safe ride/Sakert) so I guess the algorithm worked this time😊.
This looks like it was filmed on Kent Tour 19. If I remember right she did her whole support gig with her back to the audience every night. And was utterly brilliant!
You can not just ...get around it, or underestimate what it carries, as a metaphor of the core of life, as it was before it begun to die, sort of. To a generation on the westcoast in Sweden, this is an epic anthem and to those that had any sort of belonging to its story ´, its a brick. What Broder Daniel and perhaps foremost, Henrik, achieved when it just came from nowhere, that revenge and how mush of a statement and summit. It was very special how they managed. They just nailed that. Performance before tv died, how it was unreleased unheard and remained so for a long time after that appearance. Annas version might be what it was meant as. Its just massive. Ones youth compressed to a 5 minute long hallucination. Forgot how powerful it is. Anyone ever playing or asking for this song is a friend.
Ja men jag tror att Broder Daniel sjöng om när dom flyttade till Stockholm en period. När gitarristen hoppade från Västerbron i Stockholm och tog sitt eget liv.
To be honest it's all about "ever since I was eight or nine". It's about growing up in a place where you are taught certein things and you make your own mind made up. Then you are being taught that you are wrong. Then you spend 40 years trying to be OK with that.. only that you do still recognise that you were right from the start.
That looks like the Kent Tour 19 show. (Kent in a Tent.) Anna T made the hair on the back of my neck stand up every night! Electrifying! Brilliant! never wanted the show to end.
Anna sin versjon er virkelig i en annen klasse. Broder Daniel sin er en grei poplåt, Anna sin er en umiddelbar klassiker. En _helt_ annen nerve og en stemme som er knusende overlegen.
Probably, yes, they had an enormus tent they used as concerthall, so looked the same on every location the tour visited.I saw Anna Ternheim and Kent in my hometown Borlänge, this song was magic to hear from her then!!
I believe this was filmed in Gothenburg, on the Kent tour, and the second date. I was there and recognize the smile (1.26 into the video). She really is fantastic. Great musician, beautiful voice, fantastic songwriting skills and she is absolutely gorgeous. Lets hope she has the high integrity she radiates and continues to create her own music.
And Anna didn't write this song either, it's written by Henrik Berggren of Broder Daniel. And it was Henrik who asked Anna if she wanted to do a cover of this song :)
So Andreas. Where was it filmed? Or was audience and sound added behind Anna in the studio. It is amazing. The Tack så mycket at the end is a great touch. I remember my Grandmother saying it when I was young.
there are so many ways to say how cool this video is. the lyrics, the Anna, the position of the camera, was there a filter on the camera or was that added in later?
@filip4334filip Believe me. Your not alone. Every person with a little sence of musical feeling understands that this song is pure amazing...It kicks the original song from Broder Daniel in the ass...Annas voice is perfect...And she is so...so..cute..Man, I just realized that I´m in love with this woman...
