Sibling harmonies are one thing. But to write a song that bittersweet and beautiful, and perform it for one of that song's inspirations and characters, at an event where she is being recognized for her life's work, a part of the narrative of the very song your playing? Holy friggin' wow! Not quite sure how they pulled off. Amazing. Talk about rising to an occasion.
@AlanHope2013
@AlanHope2013 4 года назад
Not only do they do all that, and mention her by name, they also throw in a very Emmylou trope which you can hear on the last line of the refrain, where the voice seems to falter and fade. It's also there in the verse, too. Emmylou does that very often, it's almost a signature sound of hers. So they sing a song to her, about her, like her, in her honour.

4:15 😭❤️ Just think, Emmylou also knew the other three legends they are singing about in this song. And they are all passed away now. And Emmylou knew them all very well. As well as being very humbled and touched by this song, it may also be bitter sweet for her hearing it and she probably can’t help thinking about the three friends she lost. Especially Gram Parsons, her former duet partner and very dear friend who died tragically of a drug overdose at a very young age. And all their times past. Incredible times. What a tribute these girls have given to her, to the other three legends in the song, and to the world. What a gift. Beautiful. ❤️

@soldier24023: I also have pushed into my 70's and still take great joy in discovering new talents like "First Aid Kit" who, among some notable others, put paid to the oft heard grumble by many of our contemporaries that good music ceased in the 70s. For me, their warm, close harmony brings memories of another pair of sisters who also sang warm and close harmony in the late 1950s with a similar bright innocence: "Patience & Prudence" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-W4dqfrzJPbc.html

I don't know why this always makes me cry so hard. Like waayy harder than Emmylou, who has very personal ties to the song obviously. Part of it is for the incredible country singers that passed away of course, and not just them dying as singers but also them dying as friends and family to their loved ones. I've experienced a lot of loss myself so it hits me kinda hard I guess. And it's just so beautiful.

[Verse 1: Klara Söderberg] Oh the bitter winds are coming in And I'm already missing the summer Stockholm's cold, but I've been told I was born to endure this kind of weather When it's you I find, like a ghost in my mind I am defeated and I gladly wear the crown [Chorus: Klara & Johanna Söderberg] I'll be your Emmylou and I'll be your June If you'll be my Gram and my Johnny too No, I'm not asking much of you Just sing, little darling, sing with me [Verse 2: Klara & Johanna Söderberg] Now so much I know that things just don't grow If you don't bless them with your patience And I've been there before, I held up the door For every stranger with a promise But, I'm holding back, that's the strength that I lack Every morning keeps returning up my window And it brings me to you, and I won't just pass through But I'm not asking for a storm [Chorus: Klara & Johanna Söderberg] I'll be your Emmylou and I'll be your June If you'll be my Gram and my Johnny too No, I'm not asking much of you Just sing, little darling, sing with me [Bridge: Johanna Söderberg, both] And yes, I might have lied to you But you wouldn't benefit from knowing the truth I was frightened but I held fast I need you now at long last [Chorus: Klara Söderberg] I'll be your Emmylou and I'll be your June If you'll be my Gram and my Johnny too No, I'm not asking much of you Just sing, little darling, sing with me [Chorus: Klara & Johanna Söderberg] I'll be your Emmylou and I'll be your June If you'll be my Gram and my Johnny too No, I'm not asking much of you Just sing, little darling, sing with me Just sing, little darling, sing with me

I love this video so much .. I’m 39 now and have two daughters of my own .. I was adopted by a wonderful woman named Roberta ( who was old enough to be my grandmother honestly ) and she showed me Emmy , Dolly , Doris , Johnny and so many other great musicians during my childhood .. and I’m happy to say I’ve shared them all with my daughters who, actually very much resemble these two wonderful lady’s on stage .. we’ve been First Aid fans since they released a Fleet Foxes tribute years ago! Wish my mother was alive to see this performance and my lovely daughters growing up .. I hope she knows how much she’s a part of them, even tho she’s not here with us anymore 🖤 I love you mom, and I still see you everywhere I go 💔
