Because Erik Von Detten was the Chad Michael Murray of the 90's that's why, and tbh I think he's more attractive lol. Erik quit acting and that's when Chad got to be in the spotlight and be the new heartthrob.
Fun fact, Mia falling on the bleachers wasn't scripted, Anne Hathaway really did fall there, but they thought it was in character for Mia so they left it in.
Honestly, the wig was pretty as it is I thought... They just kept referring to it as ugly for some reason, trying to brush it while dry... I'm like..?!? I thought it was nice 😅
Eric Von Detten (Josh) is peak late 90's Disney heartthrob. I'm surprised you've never heard of him. He was in some iconic made for Disney shows and movies (So Weird, Brink). He was also the voice of Sid in Toy Story. He's perfect for this role. Chad Michael Murray basically took over the "teen heartthrob" in the 00's when Eric stopped acting, but this was Eric's time to shine. Also, Heather Matarazzo was a pretty prominent child actress. She's shifted to scriptwriting I think now, but she still does some acting work here and there. You should start looking backwards in your actor research, a lot of these people may surprise you.
Harmonica Boy, played by Robert Schwartzman is the lead singer of the band Rooney who put out the song "When Did Your Heart Go Missing." He is also the son of Talia Shire who played Connie Corleone in The Godfather.
My grandma took me to see this in theaters when I was a kid. Our relationship was/is very much like the characters so this has been a favorite of mine ever since. Joe and Fat Louie are the best. 💕
I feel like the Lily haters constantly overlook her development. She admits to needing an attitude adjustment, explains why she acted the way she did, and encouraged Mia to become a princess. I think she's a really good friend. Not the best I will admit but she's someone who acknowledges her faults and apologizes and owns up to them.
48:50 You should definitely watch Bruce Almighty soon! There are none of those pompous, grandiose types you can't stand.....but there IS Jennifer Aniston, our old friend from Friends. And she's wonderful. Fun fact : Fat Louis was Anne Hathaway's actual pet cat. (I could sense their chemistry.)
Their house is a refurbished firehouse FYI that's why she has that pole lol And the Wearing black too long is because she has been the grieving Queen ever since the King (her husband before her son became king) died and he has been her security through all that I think 🤷♀
Yaaaaaassssss 😍🥰😍 Thank you so much for doing this, Joe! 🙏 I've seen The Princess Diaries movies like a gazillion times, especially the second one (sometimes I skip the first one, because the second one, for me, is far superior) but I love them both! ❤
Great reaction 😂 I laughed throughout, super entertaining. I grew up on Princess Diaries, it was one of my favorite movies as a kid and a teenager I've watched it countless times
I'm not the biggest Lily fan but To be fair if you hadn't started ranting over Lily she did also turn the attention away from Mia's hair and Mia said thank you so you talked over that friendship moment lol
Still waiting to see you react to princess diaries too and your reaction to Chris Pine, also Lily gets a little bit better in the second one and she does explain why she acted the way she did in this film at the end of the film, she's an interesting character where she gets really jealous she's a good friend but she has a really messed up way of Where it's hard to showing it showing it and it's hard to explain, but with Lily you either love her or you hate her.
I'm still in the middle of watching, so I'm not sure if you looked him up yet, but Eric Von Detten (Josh) is peak 90's Disney heartthrob.
This movie is my personal favorite. I cannot tell you how many times I've watched this. The cool guy that's super annoying upon rewatching as an adult, is Erik Von Detten and the girles of my time were very much in love with him. He was THE guy for a lot of us who loved Disney Channel.
I think this was the first film of her I saw. My name is Mia but it wasn't a popular name when I was a kid and I really hated that about it. People would make fun of me in school for it (in my country we didn't have that many international names back then), and I was set on changing my name when I turn 18. Then I saw this film and it was the first time I was proud of my name. I was a huge tomboy growing up, and it wasn't about her being a princess that I liked, I just liked that she was pretty, nice and had the same name. And I've liked Anne Hathaway since then.
Ive aways disliked Lilly. Super bad friend 😤 guess you could chalk it up to immaturity but Mia is a bit childish but is considerate to others. Lilly is just pure selfish most of the movie, if she didnt have that half turnaround she wouldve been the true villain 🤨
The fountain seen you were talking about could either be the one at the end of the first film or the one in the second film when her and Chris Pine fallen and get all wet.
Lily is a 🗑️ friend. I did not understand why they didn’t make her more likable. It wouldn’t have taken away from the film 🤷🏻♀️ Also, she was driving a standard up the hill which was why she crashed. She’s a 🗑️ driver
Lily is one of the worst movie best friends I’ve ever seen 💀 like other than Mia sorta going off on her that one time she never gets confronted about how awful she is and then she just carries on being her best friend throughout the films like what? 😂
Anne’s MINSICULE role was Not Oscar worthy 😂 man the Oscar’s is a Joke bro I saw the film after seeing the rave reviews about Anne performance and was shocked they even gave her an Oscar Nomination😂😂😂 The film was great actually but Anne wasn’t on screen long enough for me to care about her performance totally and tbh by the end forgot about her until the finale scene
Random, but is the top right pic on your wall Rina Sawayama?? Also this was Anne Hathaways FIRST film so it's not a shock it was the first thing you saw her in lol. Last but not least, YES Erik Von Detten was HOT and I still like him lol. Most girls loved him back then, so he was DEFINITELY the hunk of the film, though I'm sad they made him a jerk. I fell in love with him as a kid when he was in the movie Brink! Oh, and at 26:44 she tells the drunk guy "Easy on the schnapps." which is a type of alcohol.
