totally right, also opinions about what fits and what's not, what is beauty and what is not, etc. Even though i was t expecting a better night dress for the Gala for Miranda.. and it was a bit disappointing.. just a black dress with a low open neckline...it was a Meh to me!
@@acho1975 think it was perfect for her character, as in, it’s clearly something Miranda would wear; but I actually agree! It could’ve been a moment of pure awe in the room, but it felt a little rushed and underwhelming. Wished they’d put more emphasis on how Andy admired Miranda fashion wise. The scene overall was just very bland, all of her other outfits somehow made that specific one look really bland.
That Calvin Klein olive/fatigue green dress was among the best for me. Along with Andy's outfit (that skirt was 🔥) during the betrayal scene in the near end
If I am going to be honest my personal favorite coat is the green coat with leopard print trim on the sleeve cuffs and collar. The coat looks like something Jackie Kennedy would have worn; but it looks just as good on Anne Hathaway as it would have looked on Jackie Kennedy. From what I have observed; "The Devil Wears Prada" managed to do so much for the four principal cast members of the film: 1.) Anne Hathaway proved that her acting skills far exceeded films such as "The Princess Diaries" and that she could take on more mature film roles. 2.) Emily Blunt established herself as an actress and the film ultimately introduced her to John Krasinski; the man who would go on to be her husband and the father of her children. 3.) Meryl Streep earned a record setting fourteenth Oscar nomination. Now that is acting! 4.) Stanley Tucci wound up meeting Emily's sister Felicity at Emily and John's wedding and ultimately married her; meaning he and Emily are in-laws. Stanley was initially hesitant to start dating Felicity because at the time they first met; it had only been a few months after his first wife Kate had died from breast cancer; so he was still in an emotionally vulnerable state. Ultimately his decision to date and subsequently marry Felicity was because he realized that Kate wouldn't have wanted him to spend the rest of his life mourning her loss.
Here's the thing though, the tank over the denim was a thing for a reason...as "absurd" as it was...it did look good on the right chic! And I think anyone who dared to wear it, ROCKED IT and that's why it worked...for that tiny moment 😗
Thanks for your support! I'd say that my abstract analysis comes from an understanding of aesthetics, the visual nature of things. I look at the colors, combinations, clashes, fabrics, layers, and general environment and try to come to a conclusion from there.
Great looks but calling the fashion excentrique or bizarre only shows the narrators lack of understanding of fashion design….the best looks are fresh twists on classics from the 1920s to the film date
Personal favorites: The coats, just...all of them. And the Least Favorite: The stupid HATS. This movie aged remarkably well, except I hate every single instant of 'cabby' hat to exist in anything ever. I pray and beg (or at least I would but I'll stop caring after writing this) that Gen Z does not blindly bring back every single Y2K trend cause that's a true 'doomed to repeat history' moment to me
I think it depends on their quality..I used to have a cheap ugly one and I realized how stupid it looked once it was photographed..b/c I prob saw good quality ones in magazines and on film..butttt I was young and just wanted to be what I saw and liked..
