This cold process soap features a subtle ombre design and a fresh scent from Eucalyptus and Cotton Fragrance Oil. With notes of eucalytpus, peppermint, gardenia, and ylang ylang, it's reminiscent of the spa. The bars are topped with jasmine flowers and pink sea salt for a rustic look.
Because this batch contains quite a bit of titanium dioxide pigment, we used an 8% water discount to prevent glycerin rivers. The discount coupled with a slightly accelerating fragrance means you'll need to work fast. Luckily, a medium trace is perfect for creating layers and the Swirl Recipe Quick Mix helps give you more time to work.

Hello Ann Marie, I’m a subscriber and a buyer from your company, I started making cold process soaps but I need to know, when soaps are done do I have to place them in a cold or hot spot for curing??? Please advise

Hi. I didn't see an answer to your question so I thought I might chime in to help. After you have un molded and cut you soap, it may still be going through saponification. Each recipe is different. However, typically your soap should be safe to use after about three days. You don't want to use a soap that still has lye suspended in the soap. I will set my cut soaps aside for 4-6 weeks before I ever touch them. I make an index card and record the weight of the bar each week. The bars will evaporate the water and get harder in the process. You don't have to place the soap in a hot or cold spot. Just room temperature. I keep my house a a comfortable 72 degrees f. Good luck. Have fun and keep making soap.

I tried an ombre soap like this with indigo, but it didn't have the same smooth appearance as yours. For some reason my titanium dioxide stayed lumpy even after blending. Is there a certain type of TD that works best? Does having the extra large batch of TD help keep it smooth? (I was working with a very small amount.)

Not sure about type of TD but if you're not already I recommend using a lightweight oil like sweet almond to make sure your TD fully incorporates. Then don't let it sit too long or it will be unevenly distributed in the oil. Are you mixing with a milk frother because that also helps.

@@chloeinthecities perhaps I let it sit too long. It was some time ago, so I'm not sure what oil I used. I did use a little hand mixer with a little blender blade. I've thought about trying to make it again (even with spots it was my favorite) so I will try the milk frother and not leave it sitting for long! I'll make sure to use sweet almond oil too.

I just came across a Handmade Beauty Box video in my feed. Is this still happening? If not, you gotta bring it back. It was a genius idea. Maybe it was just way ahead of its time but the idea of a subscription service like that is brilliant and beautiful. I'd trade every garbage ipsy bag and their contents I ever received and pay a lot more for something like Handmade Beauty Box and so many other serial hobbyists and makers would too.💝💝💝

I thought the rule with Titanium dioxide was 2Tablespoons of TD in 1 pound of oils yet you used 6 teaspoons which is equivalent to 3 TBS in 350mils. The soap is beautiful. I'm so disappointed we soapers are no longer be able to get Bramble berry fragrances in Australia,

A tsp is 5 grams and a tbsp is 15, so she did use 2tbsp :)

Why so many oils?

Each oil has its very own specific properties. When you combine they you can "tune" your soap to react how you like it. If you want a hard bar, you might add a different oil. If you want a bar that makes big bubbles you add a different oil. If you want a very good cleaning bar, add a different oil. Hope this helps.
