Im 52 now and remember rocking in the armchair when I was about 7 years old listening to Anne Murray albums my Dad had. She is just so effortless in her singing and to me that translates to her audience by her being just so relaxing to listen to. She is smooth and her songs are always uplifting and about the beauty in the world around her. Timeless.
Does this bring back memories! I still have the original tape of this concert, personally recorded by yours truly at 12 years old, silently sitting by the television with a portable tapedeck on “record”. And it’s a miracle that tape is not broken as I played it’s many times that it easily could have.
Glad you like it, had it on the shelf for far too long! Shame it's missing the beginning. There is another video of this concert on YT, of slightly lesser quality but still.
There must have been more shows that week as the footage of this video is definitely shot on a different night. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lWF2e1YkQQ4.html And I recall different comments in between the songs and a slightly different vibe in some of the songs on the tape that I still have. I do recall the one broadcast that very same year on Dutch television showed her in the full blue dress as well (yes, it made a lasting impression on 12 year old me!) so it may have been a compilation of shows. Can’t find anywhere how many gigs she ever did in Amsterdam that year though.
She's the BEST anytime, anyday! She's still FANTASTIC,any day, anytime. She's 78 now. She has been retired for 14 years. I am rereading her autobiography.
Anne had five siblings, all of which were brothers. The man who is the backup singer is her only younger brother, Bruce, who unfortunately, passed away too soon several years ago.
Bud, I really agree with you. I think Anne is possibly the very first best female singer ever. She has no bells and whistles. No acrobatic vocals. It’s all real with her real voice. So beautiful.
