We always keep wanting Mr. Darcy without realizing that what we truly need is actually Captain Wentworth...!

What makes this film so good, is the vulnerability the actress that plays Anne shows in the scenes. Some actresses wouldn't have been able to pull this off so sincerely as she did. She demonstrates how regretful she is in not choosing him and he still loves her despite it all. I LOVE THIS MOVIE.

I also love this version. It took Anne eight years to mature and Stand up to her father who was an idiot. And her captain came back. What a wonderful story.

The best and truest version of Persuasion out there, lets just forget the insult that is the 2022 version....which has the cheeck to call itself Persuasion. I LOVE this movie, it is pure Austin. And i think what Jane so wanted to happen to her own story of love and rejection. This IS the most sensitive and true to the novel version as can be . Off course Rupert Perry Jones is awesome, my knees grow weak looking at the man. Sally Hawkins is exactly as Jane Austin wrote her. Magnificent performance. I also acknowledge the screenplay writer and Director who pulled off a movie that just grows on you and wants you to watch it over and over again, as you suddenly spy something you didnt even notice before. Bravo!💖💖💖💖💖

This movie had a low budget but damnnnn alongside P&P movie and bbc drama + sense and sensibility, this movie understands jane austen atmosphere and characters!!!

I truly fell for this version of Persuasion. I'm a fan of Jane Austen's novels and can only say Rupert and Sally were the perfect cast for Captain Wentworth and Anne Elliot. Great chemistry there, such intensity in their looks, the sweetness of their voices... 8 years passed and still feelings were there but stronger and wiser. How difficult to know one's own mind when you're young, firmness of character is not so easily gained then. Luckily, time helps.These 8 years were perhaps necessary. For me, this is the best adaptation of the novel, the lead cast and the acting are just perfect. Great edit here. Thank you !

This is the best version of Persuasion.The regreat,the longing,the patience,the tension...I loved the main characters in this version.

I was a teenager when this story found me. A teenager who believed she was grieving the loss of a "what could ha e been". I saw pieces of myself in Anne, in her longing and in Frederick's, and while their story wasn't mine, nor does it remind me of mine, I remember I found a lot of comfort in their happy ending. I didn't read the book until my sophomore year of college, about 3 years ago, and I'll always be thankful for the comfort it continues to bring me. It's my favorite Austen, and I love this film adaptation. I seem to be the only one excited for the new one 😅 Happy to see the story get more recognition ♥️

This, in my opinion, is the best movie adaptation of a Austen book! Proves that words need not be spoken to show true love and care for another. Absolutely a masterpiece! ❤

I love this version of persuasion.

Of all the movies, I love this the most. It feels like a poetry reading where you feel each word in you heart.. The sadness, the longing, the frustration at the persuasion and the relief when Anne chooses her happiness regardless of other's opinion.. It's in their looks, their acting, Sally Hawkins is amazing! I find it very insulting that they are doing a remake with "modern touches".. The story itself already HAS everything to be perfect, but anyway, I'm not watching it.. This is the only Persuasion movie there is for me (even the first one of 1995/96, I'm not sure which year, was lacking of the sentiment that the 2007 gives)

Persuasion is my favourite Jane Austen novel. I love the character of Anne. She learnt to overcome her fears and fight for what she wanted and needed!

Not only the best version of Persuasion, but for being a short film and not a 4 to 6 hour miniseries, it's one of the best Austen adaptations, and in my personal estimation of my favorite films of all time. The characters are brought to life so remarkably, the sorrow and vexation Anne experiences on account of her nauseating family, and the tension culminating throughout the film between herself and Wentworth. Truly captivating. Men of sense don't want silly wives, regardless of outward appearance. They desire above all else a sweetness of disposition, loyalty and true character, like Anne demonstrates. Beautiful story. And beautiful film.

I''ve watched it many-many times =) I like that 2007 Anne is so modest, reasonable, vulnerable and full of pain and regret (which they completely changed in 2022)

I've never seen this but it looks right up my street . A true romantic, and isnt he handsome I will have to read this book.

Persuasion is probably my favorite Austen's book, the atmosphere and emotions it evokes are quite different from her other works. Unfortunately, I haven't been fully satisfied with its adaptations so far. I hope one day they'll make a short tv series in which they'll give justice to this beautiful story, by respecting the source material while also adding more to explore in depth the characters and relationships between them.

She was determined that after all that they had been through, NOTHING was going to keep them apart. social conventions be damned. There was 3 versions of this movie. This was my favorite of them all. And he is gorgeous. Jane Austen only wrote 6 novels and I read and watched them all. Sense and Sensibilities was another favorite. Took her 16 years to write it. "Read her Bio". One of my favorite Romance novelist. There was 4 others but can't recall the titles right now. If you liked this one you will enjoy the others. She also wrote one about her own life.

I love your video! It's my favorite Austen book. I started with Pride and prejudice, and loved it., but this one stole my heart. Also I love this film version . Many doesn't like it, but this book is hard to adapt. And this version isn't perfect but gives back the same feelings as the book. So I like it. But I hope that we will get a better version of this book.
