Makoto Tachibana I saw her as Belle too!!! She was spectacular. (fun fact: also when i saw it, the actor who played Lumiere was John Tartaglia aka Princeton and Rod from Avenue Q, and Johnny of Johnny and the Sprites on Playhouse Disney)
Millie Sophia Wow that's awesome!! I saw it in 2007 but I was too young to really know who played who in it and I don't have the playbill... :/ I hope it was them I saw!
I remember watching Stuck in the Suburbs and seeing this music video on Disney channel in 2004 when I’d just turned 11 years old. My 28th Birthday is the day after tomorrow. This song randomly popped into my head 17 years later. Love this song and the memories it brings back
Glad i was born in 95 now....just scrolling down reading everyone comments with a smile knowing that it's actually people out there that still remembers good shows and movies from the old Disney channel
+HermioneGranger155 i agree, honestly its because disney just never see what they have on their hands, Anneliese is pure gold, i wish she would have broken out into music like her voice
+HermioneGranger155 That's because she didn't have as many impressive connections or a stage mom pushing her. Look at who made it big from that time: Raven Symone (psycho stage mom who made her a baby model AND strong connections to the infamous rapist Bill Cosby who spoke on her behalf) Hilary Duff (crazy stage mom) Lindsey Lohan (crazy stage mom) Miley Cyrus (a little after, but still EXTREMELY FAMOUS dad) Anneliese van der Pol? a random dutch girl born in the netherlands to the director of the Physical Plant at CSU and a mother who's just a random woman from Brooklyn. She made it on her own with no help from her parents and just general support, without psychosis. Her life was simple: she liked acting, so she auditioned for productions around town and got parts. Her playing Chelsea could have been something huge, but Disney wasn't concerned with the Dutch girl with the great pipes, they assumed that since she was common, they didn't have to bother with her so they didn't tend to the real talent. Besides, they were too busy kissing ass, giving Raven Symone, the subpar actor with a decent voice as much attention and time as possible to use as a boost for their image to appear less racist after years of provocatively racist productions that included black face and stereotype characateurs of monkeys with huge lips and noses drawn out as physical slurs towards african americans. The last thing they were thinking of was giving a dutch girl a leading role in any production. Why do you think they used the only constant supporting character that was white to play a dumbass? They thought it would even the playing field if they went completely reverse and had the only white actor be treated like a pun of dumb blondes. It's unfortunate for Anneliese, because if she jumped ito the waters at any other time she'd have been the star and have a huge career right now with multiple albums around the world instead of a hidden gem remembered only as a low-key pun.
I know I still remember my family had an important dinner to go but had to cancel because I hold on the couch as hard as I could and wouldn’t let go! It was the premier of the movie so I wasn’t gonna missed it. 😂
Why did Anneliese never get her own thing? She was one of my favorite Disney girls, and her voice was an ALTO, as opposed to all the Soprano Disney girls. I LOVED her :( Such memories. I still have the CD with this song! that and Picture Perfect lol and about 10 others
I think Dove Cameron and Sofia Carson can sing really well, along with China Anne McClain. I just started watching Disney again recently, and they actually sound good. But yeah...back in the day, I felt the acting and singing were superior. The actors they hired actually had long resumes before getting hired.
I love Anneliese. I knew she sang on That's So Raven, but this shows me how super well she does it. The part where she says "How could you know that behind my eyes a sad girl cries". That part inspired me to draw something. It's cool how things could inspire someone to do something.
I was eight years old when I first heard this song! I'm almost 20 years old and I still love this song! I miss the old Disney Channel!... When the actors (in old disney shows) actually knew how to act AND sing!!!!
It's crazy because I actually haven't listened to this song in so many years. When I came to this video, I pretty much knew all the words. When the song came to an end I got teary-eyed. All dem feels bruh.
iLOVED That song lol iCan't believe i forgot about that song and video. THAT's when Disney was the shit! RIP Disney 2000-2007 :( Will never be the same
She is one of the few Disney stars that can not only sound good in a recording studio, but live too. Annelise tackled broadway and she was a flawless singer! I agree with a previous comment- she deserves to be more well known
I miss this Disney. I miss seeing this music video on my tv and getting so excited, having to sing along each time. The shows and the actors were so much better, more real, if that's how you'd put it. Only people who COULD sing, sang. Now pretty much every teen actor turns singer, whether they're good or not.
I swear most of these songs from our childhood had a deeper meaning and we didn't even realize. I think when we get nostalgic and come back to the things that brought us joy, we realize they were actually saying something.
love this movie, this movie is so underrated and are all the Disney classics. This was the one that broke barriers for high School Musical and so on to follow
I’m 25 now and I remember hearing this for the first time when it premiered on Disney Channel! Ugh I’ve been singing little lines from this song for YEARS now and I’m finally hearing it again, singing the chorus in all my tone deaf glory 💕 I loved this song so much back then I miss the original Disney so much, the nostalgia is crazy rn
I’m sad that she never got fame she deserves as a singer !!!! She was one of the best Disney stars that could sing From Hilary and raven and aly and aj and Demi and Selena and Miley !!!!
Anneliese van der Pol will have this special place in my heart. I used to be obsessed with this music video and her singing. I still am, everytime I watch it again.
2004 was the year !!!! Being 10 years old at the time was everything Spider-man 2 came out . Power rangers Dino thunder was the shit . That’s so Raven season 2 was a much watch . Then stuck in the suburbs came out ! Disney couldn’t get any better . Wait ...... this song right here alone was the icing on the cake . Miss the good old days
@@The67jeffery23 Deadass though!! These lyrics are deep af. "I'm playing the role of a happy girl but no one knows. Inside I'm alone but I will never let it show." *OKAY BUT MOOD* 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I was only 5 yrs old when the movie and the song came out. I miss the old disney channel(2004-2010) era! Brings me back so many great memories from that time period!!!
I'm having flashbacks to 2004. Chilling in my room on a Saturday morning, Disney Channel on TV and me on Xanga and AIM talking in the chat rooms. Young. Fun. Just carefree. Life was good.
That time when there was no youtube or fast internet so you patiently waited in front of the tv every day for Disney Channel to play this song and when it did you were ready to grab your phone, press the record button and be completely over the moon with your copy despite the shitty audio quality. They were such happy memories ❤️
Just finished watch Stuck in the Stuburbs after many years for nostalgia. This song placed at the end and I totally forgot about it ,I had to come bck and listen to the full song.
this song was my JAM! I remember I'd stay "really late" til 10 when I was younger and they'd play it after Stuck in the Suburbs wasn't cool enough I guess. :(
When this song came out, I loved it. I went through so much when I was younger. Even now, I cry every time I hear this song. This is one of the best disney songs.
I was 16 when this come out...I was pretty young, a teenager and I remember how awesome disney was and now..its just not the same anymore. All the good disney characters have come and gone. They will never have it like we did growing up that's for sure. I miss the old days, 90's and 2000's...you didn't grow up in them times u really missed out big time, I'm so sorry u didn't get to experience such life...it's dead now and it wont ever be the same. Everything before 2009 was perfect. Back when jessica and nick did their shows and Jenny from the block...the osbournes were on television..the Hogans, I could go on n on Hilary Duff!! The musicians even..it makes me sad but that's life at least I got to experience it...life in these days are awful I'm so sorry what everyone has to grow up in. Anyway let me know how u feel about wat I said, u can be honest. I just miss my childhood 🥺😔.
i wish the old show and the old stars would just come back it makes me so sad that everything has changed so much and we dont get to see them anymore i miss the old stuff :( the old stuff was da bomb!!!!
