Jeff Waters is perhaps the most underrated guitar player in thrash metal. Damn he’s good.

This song is about a girl who thinks she is being terrorized by an evil spirit. She asks her parents for help, but when they ignore her pleas, she slowly goes insane. The song is based on a true story about a girl in Montreal who was in the news in the early '80s. -Google

Jeff Waters (founder and guitarist of this band) and Dimebag auditioned to be Megadeth's lead guitarist before Marty Friedman ( Megadeth's classic lineup lead guitarist). They were both accepted but they ended up declining. And so the world got Annihilator and Pantera. ( And the most iconic Megadeth lineup).

Jeff Waters wrote and recorded the entire album himself. His record label hired the singer. Genius album from a genius mind. Very surprising and satisfying reaction. Thank you!

Don't know if it's official or not but I always thought that Crystal Ann was the name of Alison's doll. In any case I always listen to these songs together no matter what. Schizos are never alone!

About time you got around to this. Such an underrated band overall.

Finally! Annihilator! Hugely important Canadian thrash band. They have had a tough go of it though. I know they were basically using crowd funding to even get their albums out. Jeff deserves better. I always thought of this intro (Crystal Ann) as being very similar to the Savatage song "Silk and Steel". Annihilator often gets labelled as progressive thrash which you can kinda get from all the tempo changes. This song particular is one that seperates them from the rest of thrash pack as at that time no one else was really getting this progressive with their thrash. The songs are paired together (I think Crystal Ann is the doll?) so the alliance didn't really trick you. Its kinda like with Allegaeon's song Gray Matter Mechanics. There is an "outro" song to that called Appasionata Ex Machina. The two songs are together though as they flow in to each other. Classic song. 9.5/10

I heard annihilator first time last year when they were on tour with testament. Sure i had heard of them but never got into listening them until then and allison hell has been one of my most listened song ever since

I still have the original EP on cassette I got for $1 shipping from the back of Guitar for the Practicing Musician magazine. 30 years later, still awesome.

I love this band. Annihilator is a very underrated band in my opinion. Jeff Waters is an amazing guitar player and songwriter. He is Annihilator and he has kept the band going for thirty years and still putting out great music.

Aaah. Jeff Waters and Annihilator at it´s peak ! This and me was instant love back then, and still is. This is not a song, this a piece of musical art. Creepy as hell, nail to the head. Can´t get enough, after all these years. Good pick, they are guiding you through these timeless gems, one after one.

So cool to see someone react to this. One of my favorite combos. Someone bought me the cassette long ago and I was hooked in the first few minutes. Had never heard of them prior. These are meant to be listned to together. They tell a lot of stories with their music. You should listen to Ligea if your doing horror music. Based on Poe. Undead wife.. lots of fun. And a good song too.

Waters is from my hometown. He grew up behind The Ottawa Citizen building, our major newspaper. He isn't known like Maiden or Metallica for example, but serious metal fans know exactly who he is. The Citizen has never written one word about him. It's too bad. The guy is amazing. How good is he? He was invited by Mustaine to join Megadeth. He politely declined. But that alone tells you how good he is.

SAVATAGE - St. Patrick's A huge band that you haven't done yet, and this song would make for an incredible lyrical breakdown. Cheers V&S!

Randy Rampage, the singer in Annihilator at this album, died in august 2018, just about two months before this video.

I’m bipolar and my family members have a lot of mental illness. Generational curse possibly, the Bible talks about generational curses. Miss my grandpa, my Avu who was ill mentally and my grandmas brother and many others. I wish my grandma 👵 wasn’t so fearful and I wish I wasn’t. Probably why the first song I heard that was metal I love to this day is Welcome Home Sanitarium by Metallica. What you said Vin at the end about it being tough with people and understanding each other is so true. People this last year in my town have cut me off in from their lives. Hate it when the church gets involved and says you don’t need meds because I do. Peace ✌️

Annihilator one of fav bands of all time and also the legend that is Jeff Waters one of the best Guitars of all time. They have done some great tracks - Knight jumps queen - Torn - Epic of war - King of the kill the list goes on, you should do more of this wonderful band.
