Okay hi guys, and welcome to this extra special show, because today we're celebrating 7 years of the Urban Gentry channel and brand!
To commemorate this happy occasion, I reflect on the making of the channel, its past, and its future. I also highlight some of your favorite watch review intros, comedic moments, and collaborations with the lovably pompous Hugo Mountbatten-a self-appointed staple on the channel.
A massive thank you to all the good Gentry out there for sharing this RU-vid journey with me. It's been a fun, exciting, educational, and wild ride thus far, and it wouldn't have been as amazing without all of you-my fellow watch enthusiasts. Yours was the first watch channel I found.....one of two watch channels I drew and still draw inspiration from....and you have helped me quite a bit in adding watches to my channel. Congratulations on seven years! I’ve been watching the channel for years and always enjoy your thoughtful and knowledgeable reviews. While I enjoy the variety of the intros, and the occasional laugh from the Hugo ones - I’m one of the odd people that prefer your more ‘artsy’ intros. As a film buff, I love the nods to old films (such as the Dan Henry 1939/Metropolis, or Seiko/Kurosawa) and the underwater montage scenes of your dive watch intros, such as the old Feb 2017 Omega Seamaster Professional intro. Keep up the variety and good content! Onwards and upwards!

Love the channel, your enthusiasm for watches, the content, your honesty in reviews and sense of humour. I remembered loving wristwatches as a kid but it fell by the wayside and your channel has rekindled my love of watches and I’ve suddenly gone from having two watches (an Apple Watch birthday gift and a Tissot PRC200 also a birthday gift bought at the 2009 Catalunya MotoGP, Rossi’s greatest race, that watch is a keeper) to having ten watches.... keep up the good work! 50th birthday approaching so need to choose another.... I’m leaning to the Seamaster 1948 limited edition but would love to find something that references 1971 and looks timeless...

People should know...a Swiss movement...is equal too a Swiss movement! If you buy an Oris..or a Fortis...at first You need too have a feeling for a watch movement?... Like I just got a new Oris...and I need a magnifying glass... And a bit of patients...too get the movement going straight...but. what's important is too keep the movement basically at zero ( perfect time) So the movement can get used too staying at zero( perfect time??) Really no such thing for an "automatic" But these movement are ground Ed To keep time specific too the day?

Another great video TGV! Love the Pulp Fiction and Apocalypse Now clips! I noted the Apple Watch triggered your hallucination as smart watches are surely the gateway to a dark place. Smart watches may have a place during exercise but in business I believe you’re checking your dating app with every glance. Finally, Integrals of 7 are of significance in Russian culture and a few others. This is an important milestone, congrats!

I think that the colaboration with watchbox was not that bad, independence is not a good thing sometimes. You created very expensive and absolutely exclusive watches reviews. But in my perspective of view it was just a nice "episode" of the channel history. Now it is time to move on and you are absolutely right. For example I am (and propably many guys in the The Urban Gentry community) interested in more affordable watches, so it is a great way to continue your youtube work, because many of us will need a complex review of a watch we can actually afford. Watchbox rather didn't provide that kind of watches. As a matter of fact I recently bought the Casio a168W model and it is pure satisfaction. Thanks!

Wow! Amazing how the years have flown by. My thanks to your reviews and influence over some of my purchases. I have a Seiko Prospex Save the Ocean diver (turtle) and got into Seiko from your videos. I also have a Tag Heuer F1 chronograph and my plan for this Christmas is an Omega Seamaster 300 with blue dial. Thanks again TGV 👍

Completely off-topic, but I've got the exact same Rolls Royce (Silver Cloud?) die cast model that I received for a birthday about forty years ago. It's missing a mirror, the antenna is broken, but it's followed me around the world and endured countless moves, and it's one of the few toys I have left from my childhood. I should take it out of the box in which it's currently stored and return it to the place of prominence it so richly deserves. Cheers!
