This year we are doing something a lot of you have been asking for, Quilt as You Go! We know it can be daunting to quilt a large quilt on a domestic sewing machine, so we are going to break it down by block. We've worked on coming up with a way to connect the blocks that we love and we are excited to share it with you.
If you are new to free motion quilting, or just want to learn a new technique, get ready to join us all year as we quilt 12 blocks and construct a beautiful quilt that is done as soon as it's all pieced together! This week we are sharing how to make the block. Sew up one a month, or sew all 12 now. We'll start quilting them the 2nd Wednesday in January and show how to quilt a new quilting plan each month after that.
Any questions, make sure to visit the blog post for all the details (including important things like fabric requirements) and email us if there's anything else.
We are excited to quilt along with you all year and can't wait to see you again in January!

This sounds like a great project. I’m always looking for ways to improve my free motion quilting, I’m a beginner, so not very good at it yet. I’m also looking forward to learning something new when you show us how to join the blocks together. What a fun way to kick off the new year.

2023 Quilt as You Go - Making the Block I printed cutting instructions a few weeks ago and cut fabric out. Now I go back on line to begin piecing. I see different measurements listed. the 5 1/2" and 4" pieces were 1 -1/2" wide now they are by 2" wide. What gives.

Love your qals I cut my white fabric and started sewing my corner blocks and I think your cutting instructions are wrong . it says to cut 48 1 1/2 x 4 and 48 1 1/2x 5 1/2 rectangles. Oops ,I guess I should have paid more attention to your whole video. ❤.
@OnWilliamsStreet

Those should be 2 x 4 and 2 x 5 1/2, not 1 1/2"! I'm sorry. I'll go fix it now.

What size are the flying geese supposed to be before you sew them together? Are they trimmed at all?
@OnWilliamsStreet
@OnWilliamsStreet Год назад
They are going to be 3 x 5 1/2" before we sew them together (leaving a 5 1/2" square after they are sewn together). We won't be trimming them.

Dear Friends: I think the written directions for cutting is different than the video directions. The background fabric for making one block: is it 1.5"x 5.5" OR 2 x 5.5"...likewise is it 1.5" x 4" OR 2 x 4"???? I am happy to use my collection of mustard yellow fabrics I have been collecting.

OMG!! I’ve already cut all my stuff out and used the 1.5” measurement. I hope they answer soon before I start sewing!!

Oh no! I'm sorry, the video is write, the block post is wrong. They should be 2", not 1 1/2".
@OnWilliamsStreet

They should be the 2"! The video is correct. I'm fixing it now.
