This week it's time to actually start assembling our quilt as you go blocks. We'll need our sashing fabric, and a little bit of fusible interfacing to put them all together. This method keeps the bulk down so things are flat where we join the blocks.

Thank you once again for a terrific tutorial. However, I have a question. Should the sashing be 2 1/2 or 2 inches? With one extra inch of batting and backing it seems to be that a 2 inch strip of sashing would be what is needed since you lose a half inch in the seam. I could be wrong but in trying to figure it out, it just seems too wide. Thanks for your help. Lynne

2 1/2". I promise it all works out. There should be 1 1/2" of space between the edges of the blocks, then the 1/4" the sashing overlaps the block and you lose 1/2" of the sashing in what is folded under.
