I'm a huge Disney fan, but can't help but feel they've really lost their way lately. It seems to be all about catering to the wealthy and to their shareholders (who I hope are reading these comments), and forgetting the fans and cast members who made/make them a success. People commenting about the dystopian vibes in this video aren't wrong either. Whoever is in charge of their promotional videos is really missing the mark lately. Did you see the promo video for their Galactic Starcruiser before they pulled it off RU-vid? Hopefully Starcruiser is far better than what they showed, because $6,000 for 2 nights of that might turn off even the very rich clients they are targeting. Yikes! On a positive note, my family and I love Disney, and really hope they read our comments and turn this ship around. Be safe, happy and well, everyone!

Hey, I’m a Disney shareholder/fan. Let me say, every time they make an announcement like this, their stock drops. They need to realize their company became big because they appealed to EVERYBODY, not just the rich. Genie Plus is awful, and this looks really dumb. Decision after decision to boost their net revenue and in the long term it WON’T WORK. The problem is that they don’t realize how time dead they are becoming. Walt would be disappointed. I hope they replace the executives responsible for these terrible and short-sighted decisions.

I dont normally comment, but Disney did this before with Celebration in florida and one of the rules was that they could legally take your pets without warning if they decided they were a "nuisance". There were a bunch of other issues too, but it was essentially the worlds most evil HOA. You couldnt pay me to live somewhere where they can just steal your dog off your porch with zero repercussions because they felt like it was barking too loud.
@moukidelmar
@moukidelmar 2 года назад
Celebration didn't work mostly because if people live in a town, the legally get a say in how it's managed, and if the town is part of the park, they get a say in the management of the park. That's why WDW no longer has any permanent residents

I sympathise with the animal. If it is barking, it's likely lonely or neglected or at the least has been poorly trained by its master. THAT'S on the owner. I intensely dislike irresponsible, lazy and undisciplined dog owners, having lived in apartments most of my short adult life and have dealt with idiots whose dogs bark non-stop, lung at fellow tenants or are just TOO BIG, too numerous, or again, too aggressive for apartment living. That being said, what kind of agreement would you have to sign that allows theft-removal of nuisances? "Hey, that dog at that house over there is barking. Let's take him without the owner's express approval now because he or she signed some legally dubious agreement when they moved in." It seems to me that you ought not to be able to legally require anyone to sign off on approval of such chicaneries nor can you legally give approval for the same? HOA means HomeOwner's Association, right? I thought the whole point of owning a home in The States was that within the limits of the law, you were "King-or Queen-of your Castle"? Serious question, I'm French and have lived in apartments mostly, though I grew up in my parents' house, and tenants' rights are pretty strong over here. Just because you sign the HOA Agreement, just "disappearing" the dog doesn't seem right. Can they put in a clause that says they'll break into your house when you go on vacation and live there while you're gone? "It's in the HOA Agreement!"

As much as I LOVE Disney, communities owned by a huge corporation is not a good thing. Soon we'll have Universal, AT&T, Apple etc follow. It makes me wonder if this is why the housing market is so absurd right now. These big corporations are buying up everything because they have the ability of offer $100K over the asking price, in cash. I know many many people are getting priced out of the housing market. And this could be why, a community owned by a corporation means you will never own your home or have the right to stay in your home even if you have paid it off. They, huge corporations, want us rent everything for the rest of our lives, and because of that we can have everything taken away from us.
@FLABrowncoat
@FLABrowncoat 2 года назад
I can agree with 75-80% of what you said. I think a more plausible -- but absolutely not a more morally sound -- motive is the devaluation of fiat currency. We've been slowly building up to this since we broke from the gold standard and began the inflation spiral. It's only natural for corporations both here and abroad to rush to park their funds in something that won't lose it's value as rapidly as the USD, like real estate. That's why making an offer on an ordinary house in Canada is inevitably beaten out by Chinese investors. It's still really scummy, of course, but it makes sense.

Probably another huge price tag pricing out most middle class. Disney is no longer in sync with most Americans. Parks are in need of fixing networks, WiFi, rides, higher more staff, improve customer service and restore the restaurants, entertainment, and services cut. We all notice it. People may try coming once for the Anniversary but many are jumping ship to Universal. Fix what is broken in the current world of Disney, including issues with Websites, DVC Member Services etc…. Disney customer service is lacking. We have high expectations of Disney Customer service due to past experiences and Disney is failing miserably. The cash grabs are not helping your situation. I have made many trips over the years often times with large groups. We can’t do that anymore due to the high price points.

I'm not sure I like this path Disney is going down. It used to be feasible for a regular middle class family to visit a Disney resort with some savings. But over the last decade the parks experience has become so expensive (and time-consuming, what with the essentially mandatory pre-planning required to get a satisfactory experience). They're no longer concerned with increasing park attendance, but rather getting more money out of the existing steady stream of guests. Now they're moving on to figuring out how to get even more of those rich folks' money by building them houses outside Palm Springs. Just feels like the whole Disney Parks experience is becoming more and more a thing that is only for upper-middle-class families and above.

Technically you are buying into one of there houses on there land. And Disney is infamous for always having to have 100% control over everything. So , if they don’t want you flowers in your garden to be yellow only black? Then you better do so or else you will risk getting fined or evicted 😅 over all, paying $1.5M for just the house and another half a Mill yearly for membership services? And paying disney prices for just about everything? Even if I had all the money I’m the word, this just sounds like a nightmare if you ask me 😅 so I say hard pass on this idea lol Invest I’m making moves and improving your theme parks . also pay the castmemebrs MORE. This has been tried before and it prices out everyone except the 1%. If Disney really wants to bring the magic, how about master planned Disney communities with affordable housing, priced for the middle class (whatever that means these days)? Sure, the demand would be overwhelming, so perhaps a lottery, administered fairly, would need to occur. But the success could breed additional communities. If anyone could do something like this for the working families who love Disney, it could be Disney. I realize the likelihood is small, but a wish is a dream your heart makes, so....

Think of a new Detroit, bombed out neighborhoods in Philly or Baltimore remade. Make a better tomorrow. It would create jobs, clean up our neighborhoods and cities, and make Disney money.
