It's actually really hard to keep them on the phone too, as there is a fine line between giving them hope they can scam you and them hanging up when you waste too much of their time

They'd probably just hang up because they have no reason to keep talking to someone that they know they won't get anything out of. That's why the art of scambaiting takes a lot of skill, because you want to keep them on the line as long as possible and the only way to do that is giving them a reason to believe that that time will be worth it for them because they believe they'll get your money.
I don't think they have many alternatives these days. Credit card companies won't do business with them anymore, which is why they had to switch to gift cards.

I'm a northerner and really tried to speak like a southerner, but found it too difficult and gave up.. these programs make us wiser to scams and I've received scams on my mobile, which l block.

Then, he made a "mistake", his customer needs to make an effort to give this money back to him and he calls her names and treats Sherry this way. Where is this scammer's logic?? They don’t abide by the rules of logic lol, they do these stupid tricks and tactics to confuse people and gaslight them then start bullying and threatening and strong arming them into sending money to avoid consequences… it’s a disgusting manipulative game they play to steal from people.

sadly, any person on a bad day can get caught up in a scam, of one kind or another, it's a multi million dollar business for them, and some scammers are better than others. It's the fear of people feeling they are stupid that stops victims from talking about what's happened to them. Any person can be vulnerable on a bad day.
