Indeed, it is, once again, that time of year where disorganised folks all around the world have a mass panic as they attempt to find holiday gifts for their loved ones. Unlike other RU-vid channels, who have probably come out with all kinds of gift guides for gamers by now, we here at Team TripleJump prefer to keep things a bit more cryptic, so instead of spelling out what you should buy, we’re just going to tell you what you definitely shouldn’t buy, and leave you to work out the rest for yourself. I have every faith in at least four of you. Yes, it’s the holiday season once again, so we’ve searched the toxic waste dump that is the internet to find ten more awful items that you must absolutely avoid buying for that video game fan you know. I think the worst gift to get are those physical digital copies with a code instead of disc. Like it’s just a waste of a box at that point, at least a disc warrants a physical media purchase.

You can't wrap a digital purchase, so no, even those have *some* use, if only for putting something under the tree or packing into a stocking.

One way gaming books might make for a good gift is if that book contains concept art. Cuphead and Shovel Knight for example have great books about this and even have little tidbits of design info you might not anywhere else.

Excuse me? Those chop sticks are amazing to enjoy some snacks while playing (which was mentioned many times in this video) and not turn the controller into a total mess. And you can still play with gloves if you just want your hands clean but don't care for your controller

5:03 I literally had to stop my brother from buying a shirt like this for my niece. "I can't hear you, I'm gaming." plastered on it. I had to call him an old man for thinking she'd want that. I know he was only *half* considering it, but half is too much. I love video games more than anyone else I know, but even I never refer to myself as a "gamer" like it's some kind of charming identifier. Gaming is something I love, but it's not my entire personality.

You can get your own mold cheaply and some decent choco-hol and melt your own. Bonus there is you can put smashed candy bar pieces, etc.. inside 4 flavor.

Cheap gift chocolate is the worst. I was bought some novelty chocolate slabs by my mother which started from normal at one end and had increasingly more chili flakes in them the further along you went. I took a bite from the middle one later into the Christmas festivities and the chocolate was so disgusting. I merely pretended it was too spicy for me to eat without a glass of milk, set it aside, and politely binned the lot when I was sure I was in the clear.

I have one of those gaming cushion things. Helps me play for a long time without losing feeling due to my anaemia. The shape means it’s nice and steady and even - I’d actually recommend them.

I'm actually eyeing that couch cushion now for my fucked up spine. Anything that helps me keep a more natural posture helps tremendously. I can tell that nobody at Triple Jump Towers has 1) back problems or 2) been on the planet for longer than 30 years in order for their bodies to start creaking.

I only recently needed corrective prescription glasses but for 15+ years before that I used dedicated computer glasses that were UV/blue light filtering with anti-glare lenses. I could physically feel my eyes relax when I'd put them on, so that was invaluable for me as a digital illustrator parked at a computer/cintiq all day. You can get "good" ones from eyeglass stores that do prescription lenses but just purchase them without the prescription. They made my headaches disappear.

Gaming glasses are quite good actually. I use them at work as I need to stare at very rubbish TN panels 10 hours per day. Without them my eyes would have died by now.

I use the gamer blue light glasses. Some games with a lot of text (or a long day of using Excel) give me headaches when I play and I find that the blue light blocking glasses helps me avoid headaches

Yeah I mean, my wife is the only person who can buy me video games, or recommend then. Although my mother did ask about getting me a mist card (steam) one year, I said it was close enough. I do object to books being for big old needs though, I love books!

I backed the Couch Console and it's utter rubbish. The construction is so low quality, the USB pass-through for the charger is poorly done so it hardly ever works and they just never get used. I ordered 2 with my backing, and wound up with 4 because they decided to send me a whole new set of 2 rather than a replacement couple of components and now I have to find somewhere for them to gather dust... I don't even want to gift them because I know how bad they are.

I feel like those could actually be a good gift but only for a very specific type of person. 9. idk about gaming consoles but I know that most computers and smartphones these days actually have settings to allow you to reduce the amount of blue light they emit if that's a concern to you. That may be a better solution. 8. Agreed, just get a proper chair or none at all. 7. Agreed those sorts of accessories are pointless. If you know someone with a Switch or are getting someone a Switch as a gift, it would be better instead to get your recipient accessories that are actually useful like cases, grips, or extra joycons/pro controllers. 6. Agreed, they're cringe. 5. Agreed just a regular looking chocolate bar is fine. No need to complicate things by getting those novelty shaped ones. 4. Agreed like you said there's just better alternatives for those needs. Just get a basic table/desk to put stuff on or a regular pillow for comfort. 3. Agreed unless someone is a really hardcore gamer they probably wouldn't care to have those anyway. 2. Agreed unless you know your recipient has an actual interest in doing more in depth research about gaming topics those sorts of books will just go to waste. Most people would rather just play games than read about them. 1. Never played the game but I'm inclined to agree, doesn't look very good.

bucket style gaming chairs are awful, especially if you have wide shoulders because if you lean back your shoulders get pushed awkwardly forward, no if you spend alot of time at a computer you nead a really nice office chair, the kind that are too expensive to be a reasonable gift I do agree those weird rocker chairs can rot, if I want something weird between my butt and the ground I'd get a bean bag

For me it was always the £10 GAME Gift Card from my brother that I always hated getting! I don't shop in GAME, nor did I ever want anything from GAME, not least of all cuz £10 got you bugger all there! A wallet top-up for PSN or Xbox Live, but in that case, what was wrong with a £10 top-up and, if in doubt, do both! I hate Gift Cards, though, they're so restrictive! "Here's an arbitrary sum of cash that you can ONLY spend in one place and if you don't spend that EXACT amount, whatever change leftover will be lost F-O-R-E-V-E-R! Or if you wait too long to use, then it'll expire anyway and it'll be a perfectly good £10 gone completely to waste!"
