Once again, Ken Dodd (with over 40 years in his trade) performs his unique set in front of a host of celebrities gathered to show their appreciation of his enduring talent.
My mother died in January 1991 after a very long illness, she was bedridden and in a great deal of pain. On her last Christmas Day she sat up in bed in the evening to watch Ken Dodds programme, I will never forget that night, she laughed until tears ran down her face and she was totally exhausted, for a couple of hours she was transported to a happier place, it was wonderful and gave us all a smile at a very difficult time. Thanks Ken, you were amazing.
@@GingerNorseman that is so kind if you, it’s been 22 years now and has left a pleasant memory for all of us, such innocent humour looking at life in all its forms
indeed i am Syrian i cant tell u how much pain we have here losing fine young men but still can enjoy this show and hes the greatest for sure amazing man
I was on a flight back from Tenerife with Doddy..the flight was delayed for 2 hours.. He kept us all entertained whilst we were waiting..and did some more on the aircraft too..
I'm from Ireland and I remember watching ken Dodd and getting the ken Dodd and the Diddly men annual for Christmas, This genius is the most talented comedian I have ever come across his one liners are priceless,R.I.P MR KEN Dodd u were definitely one of a kind, they don't make comedians like u anymore 💪💪💪💪💪💪💪
Around twelve years ago I was sat in the dentists waiting room in Mossley Hill Liverpool waiting for my appointment, when who should come down the stairs but Doddy himself!! (He didnt live too far away in Knotty Ash) WOW - I thought I was seeing things but it WAS the great man himself who had just been treated in the upstairs surgery. I was blown away but couldnt get a word in edge ways as he kept cracking gag after gag after gag. " Are you getting them took out or put in" he asked me! ha ha ha. A lovely lovely man and a privilege to have met him RIP Doddy
What a Star. The greatest. A MATTER OF COMEDY A GENIUS OF the Word. How I miss Sir Ken Dodd. Thank you enlighting my life and thousands of children mothers and fathers. Thank you .
'Old School' just means it's funny and people laugh. Some of us had fifty years of Ken 👍 Long time ago, everybody even kids with their pocket money could see these greats on stage. Going to shows like these was a pleasure you don't forget.
KEN DODD understood one vital thing about comedy. It has to be something that makes the audience feel secure. He never used bad language or insulted people and his humour was appealing to all ages. It tapped into the human, childlike side of us, that wants to be tickled... hence the tickling stick. He was just MARVELLOUS and I am so grateful for the gift of true laughter he has given us. He will never really be gone from us..... he lives in his ability to make us cry with laughter. God bless him.
How we all miss you sir Ken Dodd you were so loved by everyone your a legend and a genius and simply thee best why you did not get your knight hood 50 years ago no one knows god bless you sir Ken Dodd and Tatty by and RIP Sir Ken you deserve it you're making everyone happy again in heaven along with Tommy Cooper
I live in Boston,USA,and this just popped-up on my tablet-I haven't laughed this hard since "Lucy", and the Carol Burnett shows. What a loss to the world, and boy,how we could use good comedy now, esp.in the age of putin, trumpf, and the trashy comedies in the u.s.a.!!! Rest in peace, mr.Dodd...
I met Ken Dodd 5 times and every time I saw him he remembered me. I saw him the year before he passed away in Scarborough and he was amazing and kind hearted. RIP Sir Ken 💜
One of my dad's biggest wish was to meet his fellow Scouser Ken Dodd. He had been a life long fan. Dad was in his eighties, Ken came to the Theatre Royal in my home town Nottingham. I managed to get two tickets on an early booking. Having done some work at the Theatre, I had a chat with guys at the stage, and told them dad would love meet Ken if at all possible. They were wonderful - and allowed us both to wait at the stage door to speak to Ken when he arrived. When Ken arrived, he was introduced to dad greeting him as a long lost friend....a fellow Scouser!! Pop was in his element!! The pair of them were cracking jokes, and laughing over anything and everything! Ken eventually had to be dragged away as he needed to get ready for the show. He was simply brilliant to my dad and made a dream come true. The show lasted nearly three hours - we were still laughing as laid at the end, as we were at the beginning! Thanks Ken! You were one of the very very best! Dad passed away 2013 at the age of 93. I am sure they will have met up again, and found a lot to laugh about! Thanks for everything dad.....and thank you again Ken .... R.I.P brothers in laughter!
I loved Ken from being about ten-years-old. The finest comedian ever for me. How did he keep going until well after midnight? He must have enjoyed what he was doing. Epic Ken Dodd!
I've seen all the great entertainers come and go: Les Dawson, Tommy Cooper, Frankie Howerd, Benny Hill, The Two Ronnies, Morecambe & Wise and others, all great losses, and it is fitting that the GREATEST of them all - KEN DODD - was the last to leave us. End of an Era. Very sad. We will never see their like again. Apologies for those I forgot to mention.
No rudeness, no sexual innuendos, just pure clean fun and laughter..... that went on and on and on until the point where some theatre managers wanted to throw him out so they could close for the night. RIP Ken
Sadly it's the first time I've seen this man, what an entertainer. I laughed so much. Recognised people in the audience that are no longer with us. He beats today's comedians hands down.
@Meep’s Music & Cover SongsI would have loved to see him live his energy is fantastic. Tax departments have got their claws into so many entertainers and actors over the years haven't they.? Cheers mate.
In 1963, when I was 5, Ken was doing a summer season in my home town of Gt Yarmouth. I was walking along Hall Quay with my mum when she spotted him coming out of a bank. She asked him if he had a signed photo and he said he didn’t. He asked if we knew anyone at the theatre and my mum said a near neighbour’s son worked as a stage hand. A couple of days later there was a knock at the door and the neighbours son handed a signed photo to my mum and said Mr Dodd asked me to give this to you.
2 words that explain Ken Dodd legend and genius. This man spent his whole life making people laugh. Wish he was, still around to make us all laugh in 2021.God bless Ken ❤️
It's a pity Ken dods gone what a genius gentleman .. a few in the audience no longer with us . Its a great shame we'll probably never see the likes of those brilliant performers ever again. RIP Ken
So many great comedians came out of the UK in the 50s and 60s. Eric Morecambe, Peter Sellers, Spike Milligan, Benny Hill, Tommy Cooper, Les Dawson and above all, Ken Dodd.
@James Henderson he's dead leave him alone everybody supports different things maybe not all those things are right but just going to have to agree to disagree on it, I didn't support or like Margaret thatcher but I still liked going to see or watch Ken
Such a treasure of a man, but looking at the audience from just 2002 really brings reality to life, Not just Ken himself, but so many of the members of this audience are with us no more. Such sadness with so much happiness.
When Comedians Actually Told Jokes & Made Us Laugh Gone Forever Shame. Our Greatest Ken Dodd…Never Forgotten..Watch His DVD’s Regularly To Cheer Us Up & Make Us Laugh Again…Good Therapy….🙏👩🦳🇬🇧. The Extended DVD Is Even Better.
Saw Ken live three times and remember dad saying 'don't you think we ought to be going now it's 12 midnight and you've got to get up for work in a few hours!' Ken was a legend and the absolute King of Laughter. God bless him, he was unique.
He wasn't just Unbelievable Jester, he had a beautiful singing voice too. He was one of a kind. Rest in Peace Ken. Knotty Ash will always Miss You. And it won't be the Same without you Ken..
My mum and dad took me to see Ken at the Coventry theatre in the 60's. I remember saying to my mum to tell him to stop as my sides were aching so much from laughing. A brilliant entertainer sorely missed.
This is comedy at its highest level today's comedy is at the lowest learn from the masters of comedy of the past as you haven't got a clue i feel sorry for future generations so sad thanks ken and all the greats which is something new comedians will never be god help us thankyou again to all the true entertainers not the idiots we've got today .i salute the past not the future 👏👏👏👏
The man was an absolute legend. I saw him live at St Helens when he was in his 80s. He came on a 7.30pm and was cracking jokes all evening about how long the show would go on for. He eventually finished at 1.30am and he'd have still gone on for longer if he could have. I met him just 3 months before he died and he was still cracking jokes as if he just couldn't help himself. A marvellous man whose like we shall never see again.
I saw him at the Theatre Royal in St Helens in the 1980’s. It was a long show then as well. He was brilliant and a very funny man and a fantastic singer as well

I was lucky, living in Blackpool, one year I went to the first night and the last night at the Opera House. The first night it finished at about 00.15 and the last at 00.30. Doddy was the greatest ever. How he kept the audience in the palm of his hand for hours on end I'll never know. He really was The Greatest.
@musiclover KiwiOkka he was 89 when I saw him. Did 3 hours with a 20 minute break. I wish I had seen him more often but at least I was privileged to have seen him that one time. R.I.P Sir Ken
@James Henderson Oh, here we go.It's you trolling the classic great comedians again with your negative comments. Is there anyone you actually do like? I bet your friends think you're an absolute riot.
He was really funny, and a lovely singer. A human encyclopaedia of jokes. I saw him twice in the 90,s. Family friendly. Truly unique, much better than today's comics. RIP Ken Dodd. X
My mother went to see Ken in Warrington. She , arrived at the theatre for 8 pm and she left the theatre at 1am . Ken , never stopped I asked her would she go and she him again . She said definately , yes.
I first listened to Ken on the radio in the 1960s. I watched him on TV and enjoyed every minute. This video was the first time I have seen his performances in over 30 years. I had to try hard not to laugh loudly as my wife had already gone to bed and I watched wearing earphones. I am delighted to have found this purely accidentally.
the great ken dodd, at his best, sadly missed by all of us, today, but will never be forgotten thanks ken for all the laughs you gave me and millions of others,RIP,
So happy I got to see Sir Ken Dodd at Wolverhampton Civic Hall. We parked up and asked the car par attendant what time the car park closed. His reply was "when ken dodd decides to go home". 5 1/2 hours later at his show and he was still going strong! 😂 What a man.😊 I will always remember him fondly❤
The first time I've seen and heard of this man. He is a genius of humor. His jokes are hilarious. He had me crying with tears of laughter. He sings and does ventriloquism as well. To bad he passed, I would of love to see more of him. It's good we have the internet to be still entertained. God bless this wonderful man.
Sorry indeed, some of us had the good fortune to grow up with his radio broadcasts, the highlight of our grey 1960s lives! And his live shows were legendary, went on & on & on & on, not a dry seat in the house! Professional? He ALWAYS started dead on time, but had to be thrown out gone midnight!! When he got done by the Inland Revenue, he told them he lived by the sea. And when the doctor found £1,900 up his backside, he said he wasn't feeling too grand. And NEVER a swear word. God up there must be begging for an intermission. RIP, the unique Ken Dodd.
a typical Ken Dodd show lasted Well into the 4 hour relm. One of his lines was "You come in during daylight and its my job to see you go home in it as well" I went to one show 7;30 start got out past Midnight!! Superb shows! Different every night!
The man new his trade and was a master, not PC but what a bang you got for your buck. You will never see a comedian make such a sacrifice to his art as Ken. He loved people and making them laugh was a bonus, Fantastic
Me and my mum went to see him in Middlesbrough town hall what a fantastic evening he said lock the doors we are stopping all night fabulous R.I.P sir Ken
On Sunday we were feeling down we have been in self isolation now for 14 days and wanted some light relief well this did the trick, I recommend Doddy and his like to everyone no matter what age you are turn off the news and let this genius do what he does best make you laugh and boy do we need it right now .Safe safe.
Saw him at Bridlington two or three years ago. He was obviously not well but it did not stophim giving a brilliant show that went on and on and on.........
Just before dementia took my mum we sat and watched this, I'd no idea of how much she loved this man until that night - I'd NEVER seen/heard her laugh as much as she did that night !. And to my surprise, I joined in !. Up until that night I'd always consudered him as a comedian of my parents time but not after this - he was quite simply brilliant and I'm eternally grateful for such a wonderful night he gave my mum and me !
